Asking for trigger warnings for something that is actually in a fic or art 👍. Asking for trigger warnings because you don't like the versions of the characters the person is writing or drawing 👎. I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand maybe someone doesn't want to tag suicide on their art of a happily married gay couple hugging or whatever.
I am begging you or anyone else to point out WHERE I and OP have asked to tag "suicide" on anybody's art.
Where. Does. This. Come. From.
We are asking you to tag a picture of a spider "spider". We are asking you to tag a picture of maggots "maggots". We are asking you to tag anything related to NG with his name. We are asking you to tag asanthony "asanthony". In short, we are not pushing on you a scenario of our own to win some sort of war you made up in your own mind : we are asking you to tag a content for what it is so we can exclude it from our searches and lessen the risks of suddenly hyperventilating while crying for an hour straight.
Why would you kindly accept to tag anything likely to trigger a panic attack to someone, except for this one specific thing? Why are you prioritising a fight we don't even know or care about, over people struggling for 2 months straight with ptsd? Are you trying to frame us as the baddies to bully us righteously out of your fandom spaces? No but really, what's the plan here? What is even happening?
Last time I saw someone accusing me of demanding you to tag your GO3 posts with anything related to self-harm, I politely corrected them, and they just blocked me. Is this an urban legend some ill-intended person made up to frame us as harassers? Or is there an actual ill-intended person who asked for this somewhere, and you guys are lumping us all grievers with them? We could all use some clarifications here. Explain away.

could you explain the post about shoelaces and presidents? it would be greatly appreciated thank you
Sure! Do you mean this post?
So, it started in a post in 2012 (or earlier, I don’t know the exact date). As the Urban Dictionary entry explains, you would say “I like your shoelaces” in public as a sort of secret code if you suspect there’s another Tumblr user there. And if there is another Tumblr user, they would reply “Thanks, I stole them from the president” to let you know they understood the message and are, in fact, a Tumblr user.
I don’t think people do this anymore, and if they ever did, it probably wasn’t a very common thing to do. Maybe they did back in 2012 when the post was recent and Tumblr wasn’t as popular as it is now.
I also don’t think there’s any deeper meaning to the phrases. “I like your shoelaces” seems like a pretty common and nice thing to say, and if it turns out the person you thought was a Tumblr user doesn’t recognise the ‘secret message’, nothing would happen. But then “Thanks, I stole them from the president” seems weird and specific enough that you would know they understood the ‘secret message’, unlike if they just replied “Thank you”.
Then other posts appeared making references to the shoelaces and president posts:
I'm desperately looking for a ticket for the TIC 7, and someone willing to sell theirs, so I can go in August as a friend is going and I unfortunately couldn't get a ticket when the website opened. It doesn't matter if it's just one day or both, with or without accommodation
So far I've missed all the emails from the website informing that a ticket is available again and I'm quite desperate
If you're thinking of reselling your ticket through the website, could you contact me so we can exchange with the TIC?
I can also refund you the potential fees the TIC team asks
BookAziraphael would have let Crowley die in a ditch, SeriesAziraphael cares about Crowley a bit more.
I beg to differ
Book Aziraphale might give bastard-ish vibes, he is still an angel, and he still cares about his (best)friend/unofficial husband
Best exemple I have right now is this moment in the book :
At some point Warlock gets a hold of a gun and Aziraphale's first reaction is to perform a last minute miracle to turns the gun into a harmless water gun
And the water hits Crowley. Warlock was aiming the gun at Crowley, who was distracted with looking for the hellhound.
And then Az is hit by a cream pie
He wasn't even paying attention to his own surroundings, because he had to make sure Crowley didn’t get discorporated FIRST
This is probably the most obvious instinctively attentive and caring thing that Aziraphale did for Crowley in the book
i'm not thinking about crowley falling asleep with his glasses on and aziraphale gently, tenderly taking them off of his face and folding them away safely. i am not thinkign about that

On the matter of tags: an earnest attempt to communicate
As a random member of the Good Omens fandom community, I’d just like to toss my hat into the ring and attempt to clear up some misunderstandings. I also want to encourage some honest, good-faith dialogue in a severely fractured fandom.
This is not an attempt to convince anyone to interpret the finale a specific way. This is a practical conversation about how we discuss the finale in fan spaces.
For the purposes of this discussion, I will be focusing on tags as they are used on social media platforms like Tumblr, Twitter, Bluesky, and Instagram. AO3 tagging is considerable more complex and warrants a whole convo in its own right, so I won't focus on that here.
THIS POST INCLUDES DISCUSSION OF SUICIDE.
So, tags. Tags have become a thorny issue in the Good Omens fandom. I suspect this issue is so pertinent now, two months after the finale aired, because most of us have dropped “GO3 spoilers” tags, which people would have been filtering out if they did not wish to see anything from the finale. The finale is no longer a fresh commodity, so we are all trying to determine for ourselves what the next phase of our engagement with fandom will look like.
In fandom spaces, tags are a courtesy. No one can force anyone to use tags, of course. But tagging is a long-running standard of fandom etiquette across multiple online platforms. Tags are tools that help us find or filter out specific content. But what happens when we disagree on what tags should even be used in the first place? When tags themselves are a battleground?
I have seen assumptions that finale dislikers are demanding that all content with Asa Fell and Professor Anthony Crowley be tagged with “suicide.” It's possible that I’ve missed some significant conversations, but as someone on the disliker side, I have not seen anyone demand that Asanthony shippers use a "suicide" tag on all their posts featuring Asanthony. If anyone has asked that, I agree that it would be unreasonable! But I strongly suspect this perception comes from a game of fandom telephone in which different conversations are being conflated.
What IS being asked:
All content featuring Asa and Anthony should be tagged with their names or their ship name, Asanthony.
The "ineffable husbands" ship name should not be used for Asanthony.
Content warnings are strongly encouraged when sharing visuals of the scene where God grants Crowley and Aziraphale’s request to be removed from existence, specifically the moments as they disintegrate, as this decision is interpreted by many fans as a suicide.
Let’s address that first point now.
Tagging Asanthony as "Asanthony" makes sense. I think most people are already doing this. If you’re not doing this, well… I strongly advise you to reconsider. Tags aren’t just for those filtering out content, but for those seeking it. Someone who doesn’t want to see Asanthony can use this tool to avoid them, and someone who is specifically seeking out Asanthony content can use the tag to find them and share some appreciation.
Where we have some disagreement is the second point listed above: whether Asanthony deserve to be tagged with the general “ineffable husbands” ship name as well. I don’t think we’re ever going to agree on this one. Some people do see them as the same ship, and others do not. Personally I’m someone who does not see Asanthony as "ineffable," but I am okay to concede on someone using the general ship tag for them, as it really does boil down to one's own interpretation. In my view, so long as "Asanthony" is also used, tag them as you see fit.
Now for the third point. This is where I'll be talking about suicide.
Suicide is obviously an incredibly sensitive and distressing subject, one that is highly likely to carry a personal resonance for many fans on all sides of the GO3 debate. I understand why people are upset to have to bring this subject up in their tags when they do not see the final scene that way.
But if you do find it upsetting to even consider using that tag... that means you agree that this topic is distressing, yes? The ineffables' decision was genuinely genuinely distressing for people who interpreted their choice as a suicide. I am pleading with you to understand this: there are members of our community who struggle with suicide ideation, and that scene genuinely triggered some of these people.
You don’t like to see this tag imposed. Well, others don’t like to suddenly come across visuals that in their view shows a suicide. Not seeing Crowley and Aziraphale's decision as a suicide is just as much an interpretation as seeing it as a suicide is.
We will never agree on our interpretations of Crowley and Aziraphale's final request to God and how it played out. The fact remains that the scene where they make this choice and it is granted is triggering to a significant portion of the fandom. This is not a niche opinion.
We won't be able to reconcile our views on this. But we do have to share fandom spaces together. Blocking others who have a different approach to discussing this scene is always an option. But maybe we can also attempt to reach a middle ground in the form of a tag.
I have chatted with others about this, and an idea I have seen discussed is for the fandom to come up with a neutral term for the scene where God grants Crowley and Aziraphale's request, akin to how we settled on “the Final Fifteen” for the last fifteen minutes of season 2. This term should not favour one interpretation over another.
Some suggestions:
The Final Half Hour (or… the Final Twenty? How long is this scene? Anyone clocked it?)
The Decision
We’ve Come to a Decision (WCTOAD? Well, I do like toads)
Please chime in if you have other suggestions!
Like I said at the top, no one can force anyone to use tags. This is ultimately down to one's own discretion.
But I think it's fair to say that our fandom is currently in crisis. The community has fractured — or perhaps it is simply going through some very nasty growing pains. Maybe we can grow with it.
We will never be in a place where we all agree on GO3’s choices. Right now, we are all figuring out how we want to navigate this story and fandom we have all come to love. However we feel about the finale, we are all trying to find new ways forward.
We can argue about who’s right. We can block as we see fit. We can tag or not tag according to our own interpretation to make a point.
We can also decide to make productive choices that will help us all navigate our fandom spaces moving forward. Above all else, we can choose to be kind.
If you've read this far, thank you for hearing me out.
The worst thing about the finale is that for the majority of it, you couldn't even feel the love between Aziraphale and Crowley. Or at least, not like it was in season 1 and season 2 (Not faulting the acting btw, it's much more about how it was written).
I fell in love with GO because of the soft love radiating from Aziraphale, his stubborn joy and Crowley's helpless adoration of him (almost despite himself).
They went through so much and their love never wavered.
I refuse to believe what GO3 tried to tell us. That Crowley fell out of love with Aziraphale (and found the world unredeemable).
And that Aziraphale's hope was stupid and he should be shamed into admitting that he was wrong.
Idk where people are getting this "Good Omens iS sUpPoSEd tO bE a CoMeDY!!!" thing. No it isn't. No one ever said that.
The fact that a story is funny does not make it a comedy. Good Omens the novel has a horror ending for Aziraphale and Crowley (a fact everyone seems to conveniently ignore), and the motifs and themes of the novel are 100% cosmic horror. The show lays out cosmic horror allusions, motifs, and world mechanics from the very 1st episode. It's written by a horror writer. No plot points or story outcomes were revealed after S1 .
"Good Omens is a comedy!" is a bullshit idea the fandom made up instead of paying attention to the material in the novel or the show, and now people are melting down bc reality didn't conform to their baseless belief.
I expected more reasoned responses and a much higher degree of literacy from fans of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Watching the fandom shit itself with entirely unjustified outrage has for me been the most shocking and painful part of Good Omens 3 by far.
Not only did we not make it up, but here’s what I assume is enough proof (although there are many, many other instances of everyone calling it a comedy) since it’s apparently needed:
Good Omens is a fantasy comedy television series - Wikipedia
IMDb (owned by Amazon) classifies it as both “buddy comedy” and “dark comedy”, among other things.
It won an award from comedy.co.uk for Best TV Comedy Drama and Best Comedy of the Year in 2019 and the former again in 2023. That ^ link is from TP’s website.
It was nominated for a GLAAD award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2024.
David Tennant was nominated for a BAFTA TV award for Male Performance in a Comedy in 2024.
David and Michael were both nominated for an Astra award for Best Actor in a Streaming Comedy Series in 2024.
People on tumblr created at least two polls asking if it was a comedy after season 2 aired and NG (🤬) confirmed it was a comedy. CW: there’s a video of NG accepting the award at the top of the post linked above ^^ There are screenshots below the cut for anyone who wants to see the relevant parts without his face. They still show two extremely short (6 words or fewer) posts from NG.
I will miss you forever.
I will never be okay that you had your happy ending stolen.
Even if I refuse to accept it, even if I can't accept it, you would think that would make it hurt less but it doesn't, and it never will.
I will mourn this forever, because I loved you so much, I just wanted to see you smile and dance away into the light of a bright future.
You deserved so so so so much better, and I will keep you the way you were - safe, whole and loved - in my heart forever.
It will never be over for me no matter what they say, not until the day I die.
I love you, I'll see you in my dreams.

I have been seeing people urging Finale Haters to go see therapists and try to think positively. I appreciate the thought, and I am sure many of us are doing so. I just want to say something that I feel should be taken into account:
Not all therapists are good at dealing with fandom issues. And not all of them have suitable methods. Sometimes, you are unfortunate and have a therapist who doesn't really understand. Fandom things are often taken lightly by non-fandom people. I think a therapist is advised but not always the best option.
Also, another thing: People deal with feelings differently.
You see, not everyone responds well with "think positive." Some people, like me, as I have learned recently from GO3 discourse, deal with this grief better by talking to people who think the same, reading posts from other people with the same view and just... hear a friend say, "Yeah! That was bad!"
People who tried to tell me to think positive or started getting concerned over me end up making me feel worse unintentionally. So I believe that we are allowed to be able to discuss our own feelings and criticise this show together in public where people like me can see and feel like they are not alone.
As long as Haters and Enjoyers don't go into each other's spaces to argue about who is right or wrong, both sides should be allowed to discuss publicly how they feel.
It is sad that the whole "go find a new fandom if it upset you so much" happened. We don't want to leave. We are mad at the Finale because we love Good Omens so much. I am sure both sides love Good Omens, in our own ways.
Let's try to respect each other, please.
If a Hater use Temuverse in their own space and with their own friends, it is not a personal attack against you. It is how we deal with this, making jokes and discussing problems we see.
If an Enjoyer think it's so beautiful about an ending, in their own space, I hope fellow Haters leave them alone like I do. I only engage if I see a civil discussion space or if I see mistreatment toward someone (regardless of side).
Honestly, as I have said on Bluesky, I don't see the point of asking for Asanthony to be not tagged Ineffable Husbands anymore. Keep asking for it, no matter how civil we are, is easily spun into us being gatekeeping when we just want better tagging and filter. I just hope that if you care about fans who don't like them, be mindful of tagging to make sure the mute tag option work well.
I still think cw for the decision scene is good etiquette. Maybe if you don't see it as suicide, you can tag it as cw: the decision or something concrete that people can mute.
That's all I am suggesting. I hope we get through this tough time.
Sending this as myself cause no point in going anon as I have said some of these things publicly already. Thanks for reading.
We all talk about Asa having Aziraphale 's memory in dreams or visions
!Reverse that!
Aziraphale having memory of Asa randomly and it pisses him off because:
- The hair
- Asa actually sells the books
- WITH DISCOUNT?
- Metatron owns the bookshop
I just came across someone's take here on Tumblr saying that people who create Asa/Anthony content don't have to tag it in the same way we tag anti-GO3 content, because Asa/Anthony is canon, and according to "Tumblr etiquette rules," adding trigger warnings/tags for something that is canon is apparently stupid 😃😃
They say: "You claim that the ending is negative. I disagree. Therefore, I don't need to tag things based on your own interpretation." (For context, they were saying that Aziracrow being dead is just our interpretation, and that maybe they're still alive in that damn snow globe or something like that, even though one of the people responsible for the finale has confirmed that the snow globe has no narrative significance.)
I'm not going to say who this person is because I don't want to start any drama, but this take absolutely sent me in every possible way.
They also keep saying that "sad ≠ bad", that we're only angry because the ending didn't meet our expectations and because it wasn't written the way we personally would've written it. And they also said that the fact that it completely ignored the conventions of the comedy genre is actually proof that it's some fucking masterpiece of high art, that the finale doesn't have to fit within the boundaries of the genre😃
I don't know what to say. I guess I'll only say that apparently expecting characters not to act OOC and expecting the plot not to be full of holes is too much to ask.
And by that logic, we also don't have to tag our posts as anti-GO3. After all, we don't agree that the ending is happy, so why should we respect other people's comfort? Wonderful logic.
Sure, a sad story does not equal a bad story. A sad story can be very powerful. Sometimes a sad ending that upends audience expectations is a brilliant and moving choice.
So, to be clear, the Good Omens Finale was bad.
One of the ways it was bad was because of its tasteless, sudden, entirely unnecessary sad ending. (And I mean INTERNALLY unnecessary. There were so many other options than that flat-out stupid final decision.)
It was also bad because of plot holes, mischaracterization, a complete abandonment of the established themes, and a deeply tone-deaf treatment of the queer characters. Probably more that I'm not thinking of right now.
It.
Was.
Garbage.
I flat-out do not understand how so many people can claim to like it. However, I will continue to tag my posts #anti go3 because I don't want those fans to have to have their feelings hurt while they're just looking for some fun fan art or something. I sincerely hope that they make an effort to do similar tagging for us, as a basic courtesy.
It's two months since they hurt my angel. With a story that makes no sense to me. Full of storylines that lead nowhere and are completely unsatisfying.
This angel who left his home and tried his best to avoid a terrible eternity for his loved one and all humans, received nothing in turn but insults and shaming from everyone.
And then the story ends with him gone because his universe is said to be unfixable. I'll never believe that. I don't want to give up. He never wanted to give up either. Why did they do this to him?
He deserved retirement and peace and love and safety.
And angels and demons deserved to be freed from pointless Heaven/Hell system too.
It's a big universe! They don't even really exist in it. They could have gone off to do whatever, wherever.
Nobody would mind if there was a village in South Downs with perpetually nicer weather than anywhere else.

And what if I never needed their souls to be 'intertwined by fate'? What if all that I needed is for them to love each other because they have known and understood and shaped each other for so long? And what if I never cared about them ‘finding each other in every universe?’ What if all that I wanted is for them, in this universe where the odds were so stacked against them, to choose each other?
