So really, how often should you be cleaning your towels then?
With all the creams, oils, and lotions that we use, the truth is an unclean bath towel can really be a great place for a catalyst of acne. No matter if you are using your towel on your face, body or both, dirty towels can be a breeding ground for acne, fungus, viruses and bacteria. I know, this sounds serious, but a clean towel can be very vital to clear and healthy skin.
Every three to six days a good rule of thumb for washing towels, and face towels, every other day. Also what is very important is how you store you towels. Making sure your towel dries probably, especially since bathrooms can be humid (great for acne-causing bacteria) it is important that your towels get dry.
Heres some tips on keeping all types of towels clean.

Your bed, Your Pillows and Your Skin, especially your face.
Can our beds be a source to blame for tough acne?
Pillowcases can house dirt and oil for starters, being a cause of acne mechanics or any type of acne that is the result of material or objects touching your face. Washing your sheets more often get rid of this build up.
And not everyone’s skin is equal or the same. Not everyone’s skin is effected by the same thing, so it’s important to know what effects it. Clean bedsheets may be important since we spend so much time there.
But these are some steps we can take.
1. Wash your face every night.
2. Sleep on a pillowcase made out of natural fabrics.
3. Launder your pillowcases every two to three days.

Is exfoliating for you?
Depending on your skin type, exfoliating can actually do more harm than good according to the American Academy of Dermatology.
According to Dr. Mary Lupo, MD, FAAD, clinical professor of dermatology of dermatology, Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, Individuals that may benefit from exfoliation include those who experienced premature aging due to sun exposure and those with noninflammatory acne or acne with blackheads and whiteheads only. But individuals with inflammatory acne such as cysts and pustules should speak with their dermatologist before picking their exfoliation method. Aggressive exfoliation treatments could make their acne worse. This goes for people with with rosacea, as many forms of exfoliation many increase facial redness. More aggressive forms of exfoliation may result in postinflamamtory hyper pigmentation, or the appearance of dark spots on the skin, which particularly effects those of color.
So Dr. Lupo’s exfoliation advice goes as follows,
Consider your skin type-If you have dry sensitive skin, stick withe milder chemical exfoliation options. Only those with oily, thicker skin may be able to use stronger chemical treatments.
Get the timing right-Your skin type and the strength of your treatment method determines how often you should exfoliate. Oily, thicker skin may need to exfoliate once a day, and dry, sensitive may need to limit it to once a week.
Be care what you buy-There are a wide variety of exfoliation products available in stores and online, but not all of them are safe and effective. Make sure to do your homework to make sure you are making a purchase from a recognized and reputable company. Dr. Lupo ask recommends products with a low acid concentration-no higher than 10% glycolic acid or 2% salicylic acid.
See a dermatologist-They can help you pick a product and perform a variety of exfoliation procedures in office.
Quick Tips on Exfoliating.
1. Focus on the dry, rough patches of skin. Take time to examine your skin. Get to know what going, and make stop only exfoliate in the areas where your skin is dull and flaky.
2. Gently exfoliate in upward, circular motions. Twice a week morning or night, splash warm water onto your skin and scrub. A little goes a long way and don’t be heavy handed. Never over-treat your skin.
3. Use a hydrating moisturizer after exfoliating. Wash your face off with warm water and pat it dry gently with a towel. Lock it all in with a cream or moisturizer.
Moisturize anytime with our white chocolate, lavender chamomile, mango or lemon creme body butter. Perfect for your face and body.

What’s the best way to clean your make up brushes?
In an interview with makeup artist Bobbi Brown, some of the most serious makeup brush hygiene tips were broken down.
Makeup brushes with heavier make up such concealer or foundation should be cleaned at least once a week. Brushes used around the eye and all other brushes can be cleaned once a month. But since it all coming in contact with your face, the cleaner the better.
The best way to wash your brushes with is only with water, gentle soap and a brush cleaner if needed. Try one part baby shampoo and four parts water, wet the bristles with lukewarm water, place your one part baby shampoo into your hand and gentle massage the bristles of the brush in the palm of your hand. Keep the base of the brush head away from soap and water as the bristles are glued to the base and water and detergent can cause glue to disintegrate and bristles to come loose and shed.
When the bristles start to fray, shed, or lose their shape, its time to let that brush go. Bobbi Brown emphasizes that the right tools are as important in getting the look you want as the actual makeup itself so if the brushes become too pinched or squashed, then they simply will not do the job.

So how do you wash your face really?
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, you could be washing your wash wrong..
We all know how important washing our face and the key to beautiful skin, is taking care of it.
Here are the proper six steps:
Use a gentle, non-abrasive cleanser that does not contain alcohol.
Wet your face with lukewarm water and use your fingertips to apply cleanser. Using a washcloth, mesh sponge, or anything other than your fingertips can irritate your skin.
Resist the temptation to scrub your skin because scrubbing irritates the skin.
Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a soft towel.
Apply moisturizer if your skin is dry or itchy. Be gentle when applying any cream around your eyes so you do not pull too hard on this delicate skin.
Limit washing to twice a day and after sweating. Wash your face once in the morning and once at night, as well as after sweating heavily. Perspiration, especially when wearing a hat or helmet, irritates the skin. Wash your skin as soon as possible after sweating.
One of the best moisturizers is our Clean Bath Body Butter. It is amazing for your face and skin, always bring out your best glowing skin. Try White Chocolate, Mango, Lavender Chamomile or Lemon Creme, whatever floats your boat. :D
