interesting how nolan’s odyssey says a culture can’t survive a betrayal of its core values. when the sacred conventions of a community - hospitality, freely giving, fairness to all - are distorted and abused, it loses itself. and the guilt you feel for committing / letting this betrayal happen is useless.
