The bad takes on iwtv twitter are driving me insane. "Paul wouldn't say that!" "Why is Lestat in heaven but Claudia is in hell" etc - right so crucially all of that was happening in Lestat's head as he was injured. That was not "real" in the way these people are reading it. I would actually argue with the idea that it was specifically him imagining heaven at all - magnus is there, along with various people who are still alive, all giving input on lestat. They are representing Lestat's own ideas of these people and himself - my view is that this is all absolutely consistent with Lestat as self hating ego-maniac who struggles to reconcile his own abuse into his grandiose self image. Every time Gabriella and Magnus were equated in some way during that scene I clapped like a seal.
