things I wish someone had told me about grief
It doesnât go away.
It will creep up on you when you least expect it. Â Itâll be years later and youâll see, hear, or smell something that crushes you.
Youâll remember the good times. Â Eventually.
Everyone experiences grief, but no one experiences it the same way.
The five stages of grief are bullshit. Â Or, at the very least, not linear. Â You will fall back to different stages at different times.
Youâll never be the person you were before you lost them. Â Sometimes youâll hate the person you are. Â Sometimes youâll hate that theyâre not with you to see who you are now.
Youâll find strength in you that you didnât know you had.
It doesnât get better, but you learn how to carry it.
