There’s no mobility aids in the game so I just gave him a pet cane
This is painful. John Blanche has passed on.
Games Workshop and Warhammer would be nothing, and I do mean NOTHING, without him.
He was the beating heart of GW's worlds, made theses little toy games feel like they had a whole universe behind them.
His body of work is STAGGERING, and the amount detail he packed into each piece truly dwarfed the game itself.
One of the Lords.
Farewell.

This one in particular moved me. THIS is what I wanted my Tyranid army to look like. There was no way it could, but when playing that silly tabletop game, this is what I liked to imagine.
i dont know how people handle the world without looking at pictures of little tiny mice sitting on wheat

People will be like "omg The Sinister Chaser is such an incredible character and so haunting and evil and nuanced and rabid I'm so obsessed with him" and you look up The Sinister Chaser and it's the default Roblox model with a scary texture
The term "gay sex" implies the existence of other kinds of sex. But that is of course liberal propaganda
Been thinking about sea wolves. Prints.

I wish I had what they have...
More pieces from the Vinita Cultural Center from last year's basketry exhibit
#the museum i worked at had a collection of these baskets!!!#they are like #idk its hard to describe them #they dont look quite like regular baskets they look like so beautiful #anyways check out the Mountain Heritage Center's exhibit on cherokee/rivercane baskets to learn more
Yes, for some reason I don't think they had any Rivercane baskets at this exhibit, the Vinita cultural center is a bit small so maybe that had to do with it? But traditionally Rivercane baskets look like this:
(credit to Lizzie "Nannie" Youngblood and Rowana Bradley, artist unknown for the Chief's Heart shoppers basket)
The basket pictured in the post is likely commercial round reed (with some flat reed), the commercial form of the materials we would use such as Honeysuckle, Buckbrush, or Trumpet Vine. Many Western Cherokee picked up round reed basketry due to lack of supply of Rivercane after the forced removal to Oklahoma.
I'm not exactly sure what you're referring to in regards to this post but I am a tribal member who is posting this and these were taken at our own museum within our own territory in Oklahoma. This information provided is provided by our knowledge keepers and elders.
I am one of these people you talk about being alive, sharing my culture 🙂
I strongly dislike how "some museums have unethical practices, and repatriation of stolen goods should be a high priority when applicable" has morphed into "all museums are evil, and museums are an unethical and untrustworthy source of information by nature."
Also: where the hell do you think culture is shared? Do you think that you can just... show up to some Indigenous elder's house and go "pls teach me about baskets, thank you?"
Boy, if only there was some kind of centralized location that was open to the public where you could go to learn about things! Maybe a location that has storage space for lots of items and displays to help people understand those items so that you're not constantly asking artisans to do the intellectual labor of explanation! Maybe a location that has room for artists in residency so that they can show you the things they do, or a location that has space to bring in guest speakers. Oh, and it definitely needs to have centralized digital infrastructure to store records based about items so that we're not making a bunch of scattered artisans write stuff down and keep it in boxes in their closet or something.
I wonder what an institution like that would be called.

The mere concept of a resident evil male nude mod is so funny to me. Boy put that boaner away lest a sloppy little critter grabs hold of it
"it's not a monkey it's an ape" is so funny because. apes are monkeys. and then you'll hear someone like "i know phylogenetically yes but thats not how it's colloquially used." but like. clearly it is. someone just used it.
People are offering a lot of theories as to why people care, but I think it's important not to leave out that the historical and christian perspective on biology is that life is organized in a hierarchy with humans at the top and everything else ranked by proximity to humans. Apes are closer to humans than other monkeys are; thus, they are "higher" on the "pyramid of life" than all other monkeys.
This philosophy is still one a lot of people have in the modern day; fish and insects, which are distant from humans, are treated as "lesser" animals, sometimes not even animals at all, while mammals and birds are valued over reptiles and amphibians. In this philosophy, the idea that apes are monkeys is perceived as a slight; to call an ape a monkey is to treat it as "lesser" (see: every talking cartoon chimp ever), and also, implicitly, an insult to humans (because we connect with the ape and consider it "greater" because it's close to us).
but also to the original point. when you "correct" someone that an ape "is not a monkey"... on what authority are you doing it? like there's no scientific information being conveyed, you only have old linguistic perscriptivism to fall back on. your pedantry is hollow.
