MORE THE PITT X TLW!!
Okay so, this is a modern au, where the long walk never happened and Harkness and Curly are Dennis and Robby's kids.
At first I was thinking that harkness(first born) was the product of a Dennis and Ronny one night stand, maybe afterwards, Robby sort of distanced himself for the sake of Dennis's future, but Dennis later found out he was expecting. Eventually, Robby and Dennis started talking again, because he wanted to be a part of his baby's life and not be a deadbeat dad. In the end, Dennis and Robby do fall in love for real and stay together.
Because Dennis and Robby can't get off of each other and Robby is constantly jumping Dennis' bones, they end up having another child when Harkness is only 4. That child is Curly.
At that point in time, Dennis had already graduated med school and is now doing his residency. At the same time, Robby is kind of streas out, because he now has 2 kids under 10 and he's already pushing 50(I aged him down a bit) to Dennis's 30.
When Harkness was younger, he looked a lot like Robby, but the older he got, the more he startes to look more like Dennis, he still has traces of robby lol. While Curly came out looking like Dennis straight from the womb, to the point where people confuse him with is dad.
Okay. So are here's what I came up with for the "origins" of Harkness
Before Robby leaves for his sabbatical, everyone in the day shift takes him out to a bar somewhere for an impromptu farewell party, because God knows they all need it after the shift they had.
Meanwhile, Dennis has spent the whole day working up the nerve to tell Robby how he feels before he leaves, because according to him, “if I do it now and Robby doesn't feel the same way, I'll have 3 months to get over it and move on.” The problem is the telling part.
So after being hyped up (and eventually pushed towards the corner Robby's standing in) by Trinity and 3 shots of tequila to loosen his inhibitions, Dennis goes over to make the moves on Robby.
When Dennis essentially suggests that they hook up, a slightly tipsy Robby figures, “Why the hell not?”, and they spend the night together.
In the morning, when they’re much more sober, Robby apologizes to Dennis, telling him that they never should have done that and that they could never work. Heartbroken, Dennis realizes that Robby had turned him down before he could actually get his feelings off his chest and he agrees with him, leaving them to go their separate ways for 3 months.
2 weeks after Robby's departure, Dennis wakes up feeling the sickest he's ever felt in his life.
