Rolin hates Louis. All of TVL writers do. Likely to varying levels, but it’s clear that Rolin hates Louis and resents anyone who made him a great character, S1&2 writers, Jacob, and co. I mean, damn even his hairstylist caught a stray with the nappy headed insult!

The season made fun of his “I own the night”, they made fun of his ability to protect himself via beheadings, they hated how central being black was to his character, they hated his relationship with Claudia, they hated Jacob’s feminine inspirations, they considered him the monster of all monsters and made his entire arc about atoning for his existence.

Like Rolin really hates Louis. And it is so sinister how badly he was supposedly fighting to keep Jacob on for TVL. “You don’t get off that easy.” Jacob was right to not want to come back. It’s obvious now that they only asked him to because they felt Loucob was too loved and too successful, and hated it. Based on Jacob’s overall vibe in pre-season and mid-season promo, I’d really be surprised if he were to come back if, somehow, TVL gets renewed for another season. Being contractually stuck would likely be his only reason. It certainly wouldn’t be for Rolin.

The way so much of this season was about humbling and degrading Louis and seemingly trying to make viewers devalue him but they failed at that too because Louis is just too damn likeable. People love him more than ever. Literally the titular vampire always and forever
