Oops, my wrist hurts now from holding books for so long.

I watch When Harry Met Sally every year for New Years but I’ve only seen the other Nora Ephron movies once or twice. I rewatched Sleepless in Seattle last night because the book I’m reading today, First-Time Caller, is inspired by it like the other book in the series is inspired by When Harry Met Sally (They aren’t the same characters or plots, but there is some clear inspiration and references). Sorry but Sleepless in Seattle isn’t very good tbh, and one reason I was annoyed with it last night is that David Hyde Pierce is in it for no real reason. A waste of comedic talent. I think there could have been funnier sibling stuff for him and Meg Ryan to do because they’re both funny. Anyway, First-Time Caller is infinitely better AND there’s a character in it that I’m imagining as David Hyde Pierce and it’s very funny. He’s the platonic love of her life that I mentioned earlier. I’m having such a fun time reading this!

I’m just loving the characters in the Heartstrings series SO MUCH because they always need to park in the same parking spot at work every day, prefer to follow routines, like to learn how things work because it calms them down, have a platonic love of their life, ahare clothes, say awkward things and then hate it, are feeling burnt out at work, or are feeling tired of having to deal with societal things that don’t make sense to them, etc.

Oh I forgot to say that yesterday we saw huge dragonflies and there were a lot of them. That was the first thing I noticed when we got there, that there were dragonflies and one butterfly zooming around.

We went on a trip today to be near the ocean and go to a science center. It was beautiful at the park there. We only got to see a little part of it but hopefully we’ll go back to see more. I felt bad that I was grumpy at first because tbh it was kind of confusing to know where to go and confusion makes me grumpy/anxious. But it was so nice to be near water without a lot of crowds and we got to see little creatures too. The exhibits were just ok and I felt a little rushed but the tanks were really cool. It was actually nice to see small tanks about reefs and see all the details up close. I didn’t take any pictures because I just wanted to be present and not think about anything else like taking a good photo.

I just realized that reading romance novels is similar to reading fantasy to take a break from my actual life because romance will never be a part of my life since I’m aroace lol.

I miss writing something long and posting updates about my progress. But lately I can’t even write a short story because I’m too tired. But this time off doing a lot of reading is making me want to write again. I do have an idea it’s just taking forever to get to the actual writing part.
