Title: It’s Fan Behavior ✧
Song: Fan behavior - Issac Dunbar
- Charlie/Vincent fic
- (the title is inspired by the song but the fic is NOT :3>c)
Word count: 1,650
TW: mild swearing, Emetophobia (vomit)
Summary: Charlie’s favorite celebrity is the new student at his school and he just can't stop fumbling over his everything
Notes: I’ve had this concept already planned out for a long time with Tara, but it was merely a joke concept as to how they met, but it's cute so I thought it would make a nice fic. I apologize for any grammar/writing mistakes. I only wrote this for my enjoyment so it doesn't matter to me if it's written “correctly”. Also this is a highschool au fic that does not take place in the present time.

It was pretty close to midnight, but Charlie didn’t notice, he barely even looked at the clock. He was too busy flipping through the latest copy of his subscription magazine ‘FACES’. FACES was one of, if not the, most famous model magazines out there, and Charlie had a premium subscription. Why, you may ask? Because the model of this magazine was gorgeous.
His name was Vincent Honey, and Charlie (along with over 100,000 other people) thought he was the most beautiful angel on earth. Charlie had edition after edition after edition of FACES magazines and he looked through them almost daily fawning over this celebrity and his unfairly pretty brown eyes.
The ‘zine he was holding in his hands, however, was a special edition. Only sent to people who had been long time subscribers and had exclusive photos that wouldn't even be officially posted online. Charlie has already looked through it upwards of 13 times now and he wasn’t getting tired anytime soon; tracing the shape of Vincent's face with his eyes so much that Charlie basically had it memorized.
When he finally looked up he realized how late it was, 12:25. Shit…he had school tomorrow. Charlie reluctantly put his magazine away and laid down in bed looking at his ceiling. What he would give to see Vincent in person.
In the morning Charlie was woken up by his older brother, Woody, knocking on his doorframe.
“Yo Crab-boy. You gonna get up any time soon?”
He sat up with a long, unnecessarily drawn out groan. Man, he barely got any sleep last night. Charlie waved dismissively at Woody while yawning.
“Yea yea….im comin’....”
After Woody shut the door with a ‘sure buddy’ the younger man sat in place for about 5 more minutes before forcing himself to slide out of bed and get dressed. He went downstairs lugging his backpack, grabbed the singular limp waffle that was dutifully heated up in the microwave for him, and walked out the door. Even on the bus ride to school Charlie could feel himself falling asleep, oh boy, today was going to be hard.
First block, history, Charlie sat alone at his table in the back, propping his head up with his hand. He could barely keep his eyes open. Mr. Hades was going through his usual announcements when he mentions there’s a new student joining class today. Charlie’s interest is slightly piqued, but he’s too tired to do anything more than glance up as the new student entered. His jaw dropped and he sat up a little straighter, he knew that face... and those eyes; he’d looked at them last night. There’s no way the new student was Vincent Honey of all people. Charlie was definitely awake now, and it was definitely him.
Vincent looked a little nervous, how could he? He's one of the biggest faces in media right now. Charlie stared at him, in disbelief that the person he was most infatuated with was in his class. He had to have been dreaming.
The entire time Vincent was introducing himself he didn't mention a singular thing about his fame or career. “Oh wow he's pretty and humble” Charlie thought to himself.
“Alright well, thank you for introducing yourself Mr. Honey, you can go ahead and find yourself a seat.” As soon as the words left Mr. Hades’s mouth at least five purses were moved off of empty adjacent chairs. Charlie looked back down at his textbook, there's no way Vincent would sit in the empty seat by him. He'd probably pick one of the popular pretty girls instead.
In his peripheral vision he could see Vincent make his way down the middle of the desks but he wasn't stopping at any of them, in fact he kept going until he was right next to Charlie's table.
Charlie glanced up from his book, up at the face he didn't need to see to know what it looked like. Vincent had a shy smile on his face and he pointed at the empty seat next to him.
“Can I uh….can I sit here?”
It was a simple question, however, for some reason all cognitive thinking left Charlie's brain. Because what he wanted to say was: yes of course you can, but what came out of his mouth was…
“No you can't actually.” He immediately wanted to die.
“What?”
“YES! I meant….yes you can- sorry I..I don't know why I said that…” Charlie dragged his eyes back down to his book. He could feel his face getting hotter. Oh my gosh what the fuck was his problem? His life was over, this was it. He could hear all the other students whispering and laughing at him. But all Vincent did, after pausing for a few seconds, was chuckle a little and sit down, he didn't even seem remotely upset.
Charlie was confused, surely someone like Vincent would be mad at him for that, but no. At most he just seemed amused. He hoped it wasn't obvious how red his face was.
Three days later, during lunch period he sat alone as usual and ate the same lunch he had every day. He barely remembered what it was, he hadn't bothered to memorize it. As he was throwing his empty tray away he was stopped by Vincent. He was saying something to Charlie, but Charlie couldn't hear it over the sound of his head pounding. He was getting really dizzy and he felt awful- shit…Charlie doubled over.
Vincent took a step back mostly out of shock. He wasn't really expecting his classmate to throw up, he had just wanted to talk to him. Vincent looked back up at Charlie who was covering his mouth and honestly looked like he wanted to cry.
“Hey…are you oka-”
Before he could finish, the other boy was already running off and Vincent was being crowded by his “friend” group. They weren't really his friends, as he had figured out pretty quickly, they only liked him for his popularity and even now they were only making sure he didn't get dirty. But Vincent kept his eyes on the doors that Charlie ran out of.
Charlie had spent the entire day hiding in the school bathroom. He felt awful, not just because he had thrown up but mostly because he had basically thrown up on Vincent Honey. If he wasn't mad from three days ago he was certainly mad now. Charlie heard the last bell ring and he shakily stood up from the floor and left the bathroom. He decided to go out the back doors because there was a smaller chance of someone seeing him.
“Ah- Hey Charlie, wait!”
Charlie paused and turned to look, Vincent was walking (at a semi quick pace) towards him. Charlie panicked and started walking away but was stopped by Vincent grabbing his wrist. The force of him being jolted caused one of the magazines Charlie was holding in his stack of papers to slip out into the sidewalk. The same magazine he had gotten from being a long time subscriber. Great, now not only does Vincent probably know he has a subscription at all, but that he's had it for a while. This week was going fantastically.
“Oh my gosh I'm so sorry! I- I didn't mean to- I just…” Charlie fumbled around for words, his face was definitely getting redder the more he spoke, he gave up attempting a coherent sentence and just looked down. Vincent bent down to pick up the pamphlet and handed it back to Charlie.
“It's fine really, I'm not mad I promise…I just wanted to make sure you were okay.” He paused for a moment before continuing, “So uhm…you have a subscription?”
Charlie panics, uh fuck shit what does he say? Does he say yes? Does he just straight up lie? Would Vincent even believe him if he did?
“No…it's uh….for a….friend..?” He hoped the lie wasn't obvious but the soft smile on Vincent's face told him it was.
“Well,” Vincent starts, raising his eyebrow with a knowing look, “ would your ‘friend’ like me to sign it?”
If at all possible, Charlie's face got even more red than it already was, he could tell what Vincent was doing. He holds the magazine back out. “Uh yea…I- uh she would…..like that…”
Okay so maybe today wasn't so bad after all. Charlie walked home with a big smile on his face that he just couldn't help. Vincent wasn't mad at him at all and he got a signature out of it. Charlie had no idea what Vincent even wrote. As soon as he got home he raced up the stairs and shut his door, flopping onto his bed and reading what was written in his magazine.
Right under where Vincent had written his name in the usual curving font he had put his phone number. To say Charlie's jaw dropped would be an understatement. He slammed the page shut and tentatively opened it again. Yep it definitely was his phone number.
Charlie glanced around his room before grabbing his phone so fast his elbow popped. He added the number to his contacts silently praying it wasn't just a cruel prank and it wasn't a fake number. He opened his messages and pressed the button to make a new chat and sent a short text (after freaking himself out too much and not sending it then working himself up again to actually send it).
‘hi its charlie :D’
He tossed the phone to the end of his bed and shoved his face into his pillow. Only just a couple seconds later, when he started overthinking the message, he gets a notification and scrambles to grab his phone to check. He had to cover his mouth to keep from screaming too loud, but sure enough, it was a reply from Vincent.
‘hey :)’

‘hey :)’
