I am made of memories

Scylla was originally a Oceanaid residing with the others under the sea. Glaucus, a fisherman turned deity, happened to fall in love with her. He then asked the witch Circe to brew a love potion that would make her fall in love with him. Circe, however was enraged by this, seeing as she herself was in love with the minor god. Unsatisfied with the turn of events, she brewed a potion and poured it into Scylla's bath water, which then turned her into six-headed fiend monsters and men grew to fear. Scylla fled to a narrow water channel and took up residence on one side, the other inhabited by the monster Charybdis. It's said that when a ship passed through the channel, each of the snake like heads whips down and snatches a sailor from the deck. Ships cursed with a slow pace would sometimes have double the amount of lives taken. Scylla is mentioned in Homer's epic poem The Odyssey which tells the story of Trojan War hero Odysseus as he struggles to return to his homeland of Ithaca. At one point, Odysseus and his men came upon Circe's Island (seeing as she had been exiled to solitude after her crime.) She advised him to sail closer to Scylla than Charybdis, seeing as she would cause less damage than the latter. Heeding her advice, Odysseus only looses six men and is able to continue onward through the channel.
