bio
Cecilia Bae grew up most of her life knowing she was a demigod. It wasnât something her father kept from her for long, at least not after she was old enough to understand it. In a quiet suburb of northern Houston, after a brief, unexpected and delicate love affair, the goddess Circe presented her father with a baby girl shortly before explaining who she was, who their daughter was, and why she would have to leave them forever.
Cece would always wonder what the goddess was like, if only to wonder what a mother in her life might have been like. She and her father were never very close. He provided for her and made sure that she was safe, but never really made her feel like a family. She thinks he probably was just never the type of man who knew how to have one or had ever expected to have a child. But itâs mostly fine (itâs not, she deserved a parent who showed they loved her), and she treats her dad like a distant friend, checking in every once in a while, secretly cherishing the quiet days back home, where the two would sit in silence and paint-- the one thing he did pass on to her.
Probably because she didnât get much of a home life, she grew up seeking friendship and wisdom from the world around her, turning into a kind, selfless, bright girl by the grace of the community she grew up in that sort of took her under their wings in different waysâ from teachers who supported her, to neighborhood kids who taught her friendship and adventure, and even something as simple as the local florist whoâd always give her extra flowers for free just because âshe seemed like good peopleâ.
When powers started to manifest at age nine, short spurts of small magic that barely did anything, Cece and her dad had their first serious conversation, debating politely at the dinner table whether or not she ought to move to an establishment heâd been told of that was supposed to keep her safe. Some odd part of her that believed someday theyâd actually become a real family, had refused the offer, thinking sheâd need to be home so they could still keep this family alive. So theyâd agreed sheâd stay, and Cece barely practiced magic anyway, her power only showing up every now and then in harmless little accidents.
At around age fourteen, her magic specialty started to kick in. She didnât even realize thatâs what was happening, nor would she figure it out until a few years into joining NL, but every so often when her magic did show up, it started getting... bigger. Her magic would bubble and at times erupt, and those harmless little accidents started becoming explosive accidentsâ sudden burst of a water pipe, a lightbulb exploding, rushes of wind that turn an entire room into a disaster.
Cece was mostly lucky for a while, being able to cover up her messes or quickly fix what sheâd done wrong before anyone other than her dad noticed. He grew concerned, but didnât fight when she promised she was practicing to minimize mistakes. Finally, when an unexpected outburst of magic caused an explosion in the backyard shed, there was no denying how dangerous her unchecked magic really was. Displaying the first instance of fatherly care, concerned heâd lose her for good if she wasnât able to safely figure out her powers, Ceceâs father decided she had to move to that safe-haven after all for her best interests.
As soon as she stepped into Nemean Lion, she knew in her heart she should have been there from the start. This was where she was truly meant to belong. It was exactly everything she needed, resources to learn about who she was and how to control her powers, a community bustling with a world that finally made sense to her, and most importantly, a home with people she wanted to support, to go on adventures with, to be good to in return. She loves the people there, and has definitely been spending a good part of her years at NL making as many friends as she can.
Since then, sheâs been steadily getting a grip on her magic, working hard to learn how to invoke it properly, and learned that the reason she kept having those large spurts of uncontrolled magic was because she had a specialization in amplification. Along with regular classes to continue schooling, she also trained in combat, feeling a stronger sense of confidence and security the more capable she felt in protecting herself.
Cece is way more in tune with her demigod side now, and the life NL has made possible for her is so much more of who she truly wants to be, which is why after, finishing college through the campus, she decided that-- despite the sometimes frightening nature of the job-- sheâd train to be a hero, and give the world more of the good sheâd felt so lucky to have received.

connections
Jake Garityâ her best friend, they met on his first day at the campus, she showed him around, and theyâve just connected ever since; the person she trusts most in her life
Charla Leeâ technically, Charlaâs her niece, but she honestly sees her as more of an older sister figure, and Cece looks up to her a lot, wanting to emulate her
Ezra Stokesâ her boyfriend! she met him through mutual friends of Jake and Oliver, and originally didnât like his gruff and grumpy personality, but after bumping into each other in the art studio a couple times, sheâs actually found she likes him quite a lot and theyâve been dating for several months now
Oliver Armstrongâ also a good friend! they run in the same circles and she really enjoys his soft and friendly presence
Ginny Danielsâ roommate and good friend! the two get along pretty well, well enough to share a living space, and she loves being around her
wanted
any type of friendsâ Ceceâs very personable and trusting, with a good attitude most of the time, so I imagine she tries to make friends with mostly everyone who also has a good attitude!
not-friendsâ not enemies per se, but if you have a bad attitude, she definitely does not vibe bc she simply thinks people should do their best to be good people
training/hero buddiesâ sheâs very excited to be in hero training, but sheâs also probably not the greatest at it yet and i bet itâs fun to have another buddy who also going through the same thing
mentorâ along the same vein, could be a graduated hero whoâs helping to show her the ropes, or honestly anyone whoâs cool and capable and willing to look out for Cece
exes on good or bad termsâ Cece isnât super experienced in the romantic department, but I also donât think sheâs a novice, sheâs probably had some varying versions of relationships. she really is very kind, so it makes sense that sheâd stay friends with an amicable ex, but if you broke up on bad terms then yeesh it must be bad bad!
iâm so bad at coming up with connections template BUT i love making connections so iâm down for literally anything pls im so excited and ready!!
hmu on discord for anything!
