I know I gripe a lot about how people are ignorant despite all the free available studies that are out there
But also at the same time I can't blame them too much because it is a good thing to not believe what you're told just because it came from an authority or someone sent you a few links in a reply
Because it's no secret that those in power have been known to lie to the public throughout all of human history and it's also reasonable to not believe the first like three links someone sends you in a reply because it's incredibly easy for someone to cherry pick what information they share with you to make themselves look right even if there's a bunch more information that proves them wrong
So I encourage not believing what you're told immediately just because it's what you're told , critical thinking is important
But there comes a time when people need to ask themselves if they're actually thinking critically or if they're just disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing . Are they actually disagreeing because they've done their own research and they've combined it with experience and observation and have genuine reason to stand their ground, or are they disagreeing because they know they're wrong and they can't really prove themselves right but their ego is hurt so it's better to die on the hill with what they think is dignity?
