This is called DARVO which stands for deny, attack, reverse the role of victim and offender. This tactic very often results in creating a situation where it’s impossible for the surrounding community to determine who is “the Abuser” and who is “the Victim” It often results in the “believe victims no matter what” crowd unwittingly supporting abusers and furthering that abuser’s abuse by destroying the victims entire livelihood…and completely striping them of all humanity. There’s an expression that when an abuser can no longer control you, they move to control how others see you. There are a few frameworks people have worked hard to create in order to more effectively support communities through abuse, but unfortunately those are FAR too often not implemented as intended and have earned a bad reputation as a result.
