You know what’s a trend that I hate? When people go back and retouch photos of celebs from like the 90’s and 2000’s and give them the current “Instagram Face™️” complete with makeup. Like maybe it’s bc I’m geriatric and actually lived through the 2000’s and remember the aesthetics but I always find it particularly jarring seeing them superimpose today’s look over an old photo. I can immediately clock the makeup as anachronistic (like the brows weren’t arched the same nor as thick as they are now, or like the Kim K contour and highlight combo wasn’t really the look back then, the ridiculously long and full drag lashes etc. My 90’s girlies know what I mean) and also???? I know what those ladies used to look like bc I grew up seeing those faces (like many of us saw how so many celebs before had interesting and unique faces before these cookie cutter fox brow + lip filler + cheek filler + buccal removal etc look. Now obviously the girlies had surgery back then but I feel like there was more variety with faces vs now where there absolutely is specific aesthetic many celebs and influencers are chasing).
Like okay I saw this photo of Angelina Jolie from the 2000’s floating around and everyone in the comments were like “😍 she looks perfect”.
Who is this??? Like I remember when she was younger that is not what she looked like?? And I see this all the time like people going back and retouching vintage or slightly older photos of celebs and giving them basic Instagram Baddie™️ face.
