I want other young people to understand that if the extent of your radical action is posting “eat the rich!” on social media and waiting for somebody to tell you a revolution has started, nothing will change and you’ll get arrested in the Third Red Scare and that’ll be it
What’s the plan?
Join a local trade union and the IWW. Join or start a local tenant’s union. Volunteer with Food Not Bombs and do other mutual aid in your community. Support your local solidarity economy and maker community. Build, fix, and grow stuff. Use free, open-source software and stop letting companies sell your data. Pirate stuff. Break unjust laws. Attend local actions
And most importantly, join radical groups in your area. Strength is found in numbers and none of us can change the world alone. If you need help finding your local movement, DM me and I’ll look around for you so you can start getting stuff done
If you’re younger and can’t join unions or go to protests, you can still do some of the above.
Like as stated above for example, use open source software. Switch from chrome to firefox. Read the terms and conditions.
Shop at antique/thrift/pawn stores and stop buying everything new.
Barter. Exchange services, items, or skills with your peers. Are you 16 and able to drive your friends around? Carpool, and ask that your friends pay you back with food sometime, or teach you a skill that they have. Maybe that band kid is really good at knitting. Learn how to do that.
Never think that your contribution is useless. An ocean is just a multitude of drops.
also give money to homeless people

Hi! I like your blog but was wondering if you could give me an ELI5 version of the difference between communism, socialism, and marxism. I'm a scientist and have absolutely no background in these things.
Yeah, sure!
Communism = “a stateless, classless, moneyless society.” There are tons of different kinds of communists, and communism has existed for thousands of years. Communes themselves have existed in many different forms throughout human history. One of the most popular forms of communist analysis in the modern world is Marxism, which is based on the writings of 19th century German intellectual Karl Marx and his long line of intellectual descendants. Marxism posits that “all hitherto existing history is a history of class struggle,” and due to this dialectic of materially different groups clashing with one another over time (dialectical materialism), communism will either inevitably spring out of the contradictions apparent within capitalism, or capitalism will destroy everything. Marxism is just one kind of communism, and there are many others, including religious communism (that’s me!), anarcho-communism (also me!), utopian communism, etc.
Socialism = “workers own the means of production.” This is a much newer idea than communism, since it basically requires capitalism or something similar to exist for the material conditions to even be right for socialism to intellectually develop. Socialism says that instead of workplaces being owned and managed by absentee business owners, they should instead be managed by the workers directly, for their own benefit. Socialism is normally conceived as a step towards communism (particularly within Marxism), and so almost all socialists are necessarily also communists.
Sometimes all of these terms are confused with something else, normally called Social Democracy, which is basically just the idea that “there should be a massive welfare state.” Almost all socialists and communists support social democratic reforms (like tax-payer funded healthcare, tax-payer funded public transportation, etc.) because they materially benefit workers, but a welfare state by itself is neither socialism or communism. Even if the government “runs everything,” that is neither socialism nor communism.
Hopefully that helps!
theres no way in hell you can guess how this video ends
Word
Literally though this is SO ignored, even that book “The Knowledge” which is supposed to be all about how to accelerate the reboot process if civilisation collapses, the entire subject of clothing production from fibre sources to weaving is given less than six pages (of 288), and pretty much all it has to say (less than a page) on the vital matter of spinning is “did u kno spinning wheels are a thing; Da Vinci invented the spinning flyer and it’s really cool it’s so cool and Da Vinci is cool; you can make rope”
Like ok buddy, good luck with that. Spinning wheels have a lot of parts and break easily, and spinning on a wheel is actually a specialist skill that has to be learned & practiced, so even if you do miraculously find one laying around in full working order after the apocalypse, good luck figuring out how to use and maintain it. Good luck figuring out which whorls and bobbins to use and when and why. Good luck figuring out how to adjust the band or lace the flyer to control tension and gauge. Good luck with your shitty unset, unplied, uneven yarn that you can’t even use because you ignored knitting and crochet. Good luck weaving your unset, unblocked handspun. Good luck with your weak, shitty rope. Sure glad you used that pagespace to tell us how the spinning flyer was one of the few of Da Vinci’s inventions that were implemented during his lifetime, instead of explaining how to set & block spun fibre to make it usable. That’ll keep you warm. Godspeed you naked dumbass.
Never forget the episode of Naked & Afraid where the girl knew how to weave grass into a hat and outfit and the man just got horrible sunburns all over his body.
LISTEN the best fucking resource I have EVER gotten (and I got it on accident when my grandma was gonna hand it off to the thrift shop) is Reader’s Digest: Back to Basics. It not only boasts detailed instructions on how to twist yarn and weave on a loom, it covers basically everything else too. Building houses, raising animals and growing vegetables, canning/preservation, various handcrafts, even recreation. Basically everything you’d need to know for long-term survival, which is something a LOT of people overlook.

Reading about Congress bills can be dry, so here’s a quick thread on the eight bills (among 2,000 - according to Al Jazeera English) introduced since Trump took office in January.
I will update this post with a link explaining each bill - which has far-reaching and devastating consequences for Americans, especially low-income Americans - in a very short bit.

oh we can get even more specific than just a list of billionaires:
here are all of the scum who control oil, coal, and natural gas
here are the ones who run the factories
and here are the ones who extract the raw resources that the others need to make it all work
23,000 people are reblogging a hit list
