I absolutely LOVE Who Framed Roger Rabbit because it's such a fucking bizarre movie.
It's a parody of Noir films but takes itself DEADLY seriously.
There's cartoon racism. Like. Literally. Racism towards cartoons.
There's a baby that's actually a 50 year old man.
The inciting incident is that a detectibe reveals to a cartoon that his wife cheated on him wITH THE PRESIDENT OR CEO OF THEIR HOMELAND--
THEN LATER WHEN SAID CEO OR PRESIDENT IS FOUND FUCKING M U R D E R E D, THEY BELIEVE THE RABBIT DID IT IN AN ACT OG JEALOUS RAGE--
Jessica Rabbit our diva our queen and our icon.
The main character's brother was killed BECAUSE A CARTOON DROPPED A FUCKING PIANO ON HIS HEAD FROM 50 STORIES--
There's a sublot revolving around the detective and his ex-girlfriend getting back together because the detective is making progress on his mental health and drinking, all thanks to the cartoon that was framed for MURDER--
The Judge™️
It's the only film in history where Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse are on screen together at the same time.
Daffy Duck and Donald Duck have a piano duet.
There's a taxi that is alive.
There is a CHEMICAL that has been discovered is THE ONLY THING that can kill a cartoon, and The Judge ™️ uses that to try and MURDER ALL THE CARTOONS. SO THAT HE CAN BUILD A F R E E W A Y
YES THE VILLAIN'S MAIN MOTIVATION IS THAT HE WANTS TO GENOCIDE THE CARTOONS AND MAKE A FREEWAY IN THEIR PLACE.
THEN IT TURNS OUT THAT THE JUDGE IS SECRETELY A CARTOON HIMSELF AND HE'S THE ONE WHO KILLED THE DETECTIVE'S BROTHER ALL THOSE YEARS AGO.
It's implied that goofy was once accused of being a spy
It's special effects and the way they incorporated both live-action and animation is still TO THIS DAY one of the BEST attempts at doing so.
Just... what a fucking bizarre movie. Who came up with this. 10 stars, idk if it won any oscars but if it did it deserved every last one. Fucking amazing.
