Jean would probably have the crashout of the century if he found out Andrew, Neil, and Kevin were dating he would think Kevin had no problem dating a guy it was just him he didn’t want he would see the way Kevin looked at them the same way he’s been looking at Kevin for years as for Neil his misplaced forever partner he was already robbed years with him and the brief time he had him he had to give him back to Andrew when he so so desperately wanted him to stay what did Andrew do to deserve them what makes him so special

the thing is that childhood doesn't just end when you turn 18 or when you turn 21. it's going to end dozens of times over. your childhood pet will die. actors you loved in movies you watched as a kid will die. your grandparents will die, and then your parents will die. it's going to end dozens and dozens of times and all you can do is let it. all you can do is stand in the middle of the grocery store and stare at freezers full of microwave pizza because you've suddenly been seized by the memory of what it felt like to have a pizza party on the last day of school before summer break. which is another ending in and of itself

I hate when people hc kevin as being some kind of bigot bc yeah he has tried to warn his friends about breaking away from the heteronormative but he didn't do it out of bigotry but very real fear and care for the danger and difficulties it would bring. Also, mind you, he has been openly vocal about his admiration and respect for Jeremy (an openly gay player) and the Trojans (which has a large number of out queer players). Kevin might tell Neil it's easier to be straight or have tried to warn Jean about how the media and people treat queer players (mind you the nest was an extremely homophobic environment, esp riko and kevin was trying to PROTECT jean) but he would 100% stand by them and support them and argue that exy is for everyone

it really pisses me off when adults sit there and drill it into kids’ heads that their youth is fleeting and tell them things like “enjoy your childhood while it lasts because this is the best it’s gonna get”. why are you telling children that adulthood is the worst thing they can experience? seriously what the fuck is wrong with you, why are you trying to make them feel like growing up is a fate worse than death? trying to convince them their life is over before it even begins? i’m tired of that shit. because tell my why my 12 year old cousin told me when she turns 30 she’ll be so depressed she’s just gonna cry all the time. what the fuck. kids don’t need to hear that their already stressful and overwhelming lives are never going to get better, that the abuse and lack of autonomy they face is apparently the highlight of their lives. they need to hear about adults who are happy to be alive and happy to have made it to their age. they need to know that growing up rules, it’s a gift and life does not have to suck for them, that they have a future that’s worth sticking around for. this rhetoric is so damaging mentally and i’m about to start hitting the adults who parrot it. i’m sorry you hate your life but you don’t get to dump your issues on these kids. don’t piss me off and leave these babies alone!

the funniest parts of aftg are Andrew unapologetically playing favourites because he's always trying so hard not to care but his only moral is "Kevin and Neil can do whatever they want without any consequences and if anyone tries to impose consequences on them they have to get through me first" while no one except Kevin and Neil themselves wants to get through him
