so I’ve got this headcanon that Guardians of the Galaxy is really the Avengers playing a table top roleplaying game, where Bucky’s the DM who suffers through heaps and loads of trolling

Thor who needed a lot of help building his character and decided on a couple easy to remember traits (Strong, honor, doesn’t get metaphors)

It wasn’t often that she took her daughter into the Forever Fall, but she did sometimes if she had the day off. Her daughter was a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed little thing, for better or worse… She watched her daughter eye the grasshopper- she half-expected a hand to swing the stick that her daughter was holding into the bug- but she did not expect her to lunge with an open mouth, capturing the insect in her mouth.

The sight left Christina so in shock that she didn’t even react for a solid five seconds- in which time the little one chewed and swallowed. “No point in making her spit it back up, she just ate lunch…” As she dug a water bottle out of her pack, it came to mind that her father had told her that ‘Anything is edible if you’re hungry.’

She knew he was probably observing from a distance, as he was wont to do- at least he wasn’t in immediate eyesight… So she took a deep breath-

Eventually, they were found and he approaches the two of them. Their child, little Sable, eyed at him particularly, her tail swaying side to side as the blue-gray orbs blinked at her dad’s gold and gray. At first, he might have thought Chrissy might have been overreacting and though Silas abandoned them or something. He does remember how she isn’t particularly the sharpest with cardinal directions. 

“She ate a grasshopper...” Christina’s voice was exasperated, her eyes focusing on his. “Wasn’t it you that always said that you could eat anything if you were hungry? I’m not mad, I just figured we’d have established a rule as to what “hungry” entailed...” She broke from his gaze, her tail swishing back and forth as she gripped Sable’s jaw- a small noise of protest came from the ten-year-old as she pinched the “twig”, pulling it free of Sable’s mouth and holding it up.

A smile tugged at her lips- she couldn’t help but feel a bit dumb for saying that… There was a noticable gash in her side. Definitely not a scratch… “Yeah that was d-dumb-” Her eyes focused slowly on Shanyin for a moment before sitting down heavily.

Shanyin looked over the wound carefully before pulling out a few bottles from his first aid kit. “Well, it’s pretty deep, so you’ll probably need stitches when we get back to the infirmary. But for now, I’m just gonna clean it up and try to stop the bleeding.”

Her eyes focused on Shanyin’s without a reply- in the light the blue irises seemed to take a more electric tone, her arm coming to rest behind her head as she laid down on her opposite side in front of him. If they didn’t know better, it’d look like she was posing… Not that she was in a very laughing mood.

“Please be gentle… I’m actually pretty surprised you have all this stuff on you. I usually don’t.” Christina’s voice stalled out for a moment, her tail swaying momentarily in the air before returning to being limp again.

“… My name is Christina, but my friends usually call me Chris. Figure since you’re stitching me up, you should at least know my name.”

“Well, I’m my team’s medic, so I gotta come prepared for just about anything. Anyway, I’m gonna start by flushing the wound out with some saline, okay? This might sting a bit.” Shanyin said as he unscrewed the top of one of the bottles and pouring the contents on the wound to wash out blood and debris.

“Fair enough, I’ve sorta fallen in as our…” She paused for a moment, trying to figure out just where in her team she fell… they didn’t even have a proper team name anymore, and there were only three of them, so-

Her train of thought was interrupted by the sudden application of the saline- which she hadn’t even registered him mentioning. A tiny squeak came out of her mouth, and her eyebrows furrowed- that stung far more than she expected, although it wasn’t bad.

“I was hunting.” The answer was short and blunt, her tail lazily swishing against the grass underneath her- she didn’t seem worse for wear, if you ignore her pale skin and the light bit of sweat on her face. “I made a mistake and used too much of my Aura... Things seem to be better now-” 

Christina held her hand out, and the telltale shimmer of her Aura flashed across her, electric blue shot through with hints of white. “... Or not. Still can’t use my semblance properly. I just used too much for my semblance and dropped the shielding, so to speak. I’m fast enough to not really need to worry, but... Well, another reminder that’s a load of crap right?” Her lips curled upward into a smile, although it hurt.

If you notice, there’s a small bit of leeway there. 

Honestly, I personally don’t think full-auto guns should be regulated beyond normal, for a variety of reasons, mostly because if someone wants a full-auto gun, they can modify many semi-auto guns at home and get one that way, or just make a Sten. 

I also think making NICS checks more available and cheap will significantly cut down on the ability of criminals to access these (and other guns), especially with the responsibility of the crime possibly falling on the head of the seller. Nobody but a fool would take that liability. 

The definition of firearm specifically excludes explosives, as they do not propel a projectile in a controlled, directable manner. They are at best “directional.”

Though, this definition of firearm still technically includes many anti-tank missiles (dependent on method of delivery), but it specifically excludes area of effect weapons such as antipersonnel grenades, HE grenades, claymores, and other bombs or explosives.

I intend to work out some legislature regulating explosives as well; the plan is to allow hobbyist organizations to manage local/state use of them similar to how the FCC uses HAM radio to manage local use of radio. This would allow someone to receive a sort of “Explosives Tech” license to enable them to purchase/use explosives for industrial/construction/hollywood/personal purposes. 

I understand the concern, to be absolutely sure and the scenario is a nightmare one, but the truth is, the same could be said for an individual with the same gun in semi-auto configuration, using a bump-fire stock or merely walking the trigger (or using any variety of homemade or commercially available means).

Honestly a worse nightmare scenario would be someone with a remote-controlled gun firing into a populated area via indirect fire. Then it would be pointless if the gun was auto or not, because the trigger mechanism could be actuated by a hand drill and a bit of wood. 

Or, hell, a bunch of pipe-shotguns rigged up in a similar way to fire into a crowd. It’s not impossible to make a shrapnel mortar using things you can buy at local hardware stores, or to make a VBIED, or a chemical gas bomb. And the scariest part is some of these are incredibly cheap. 

There’s a lot of scary possibilities out there that could result in a lot of suffering; and while guns are effective tools to do harm, on large scales, other things are significantly more effective. 

Everyone, at all times, lives with the sword of Damocles over their head. At any time, someone with a significant amount of anger at you or people around you, can act in a way that could permanently injure you or end your life, or the lives of your loved ones. Not just individual people, but police, government, hell, mother nature herself, are all capable of turning your life into a nightmare for absolutely no reason.

We tend to ignore it, unless it’s something that we conceive as being likely, or particularly unsettling; but it’s always there, only one broken hair from crashing down on us.
