I think the issue surrounding the Gen Z stare is a confusion between "deer in headlights" reaction and the real Gen Z stare.

Some of peoples issues with the "Gen Z stare" is that they dont know how to socialise, they just stare at you when you try to talk to them. This may be the real Gen Z stare but a lot of the time it is just them freezing up not knowing what to say to you.

The real Gen Z stare is a reaction of disbelief; I don't know what to say to this, with a little judgment. This happens when you say something not it or stupid, Gen Z just doesn't know how to respond to that so they just stare.

Both of these reactions are very similar. While the problem of socialisation is an issue with Gen Z, it should be mistaken for the Gen Z stare.
