The way Ocean and Ricky look at each other during the "no one can measure how hard we try" in Its Just a Ride never fails to make me emotional. First off, the movements there remind me of how young they are and that's just ough my babies. And they both look so elated and overjoyed to be saying it, like a weight has been lifted off their shoulders.

But also. It feels like such a nice completion for Ocean's arc. This might be my love of Ricky talking (my bias as a disabled nerd is showing lol), but I always saw him as bit of a foil to her. Like his speech about the world being a random collection of moments versus her intense need for her life to have meaning, his inability to be seen for anything he does versus her need to be seen for everything she does, his rather quick acceptance of his death versus her arc over the musical of her struggling to do the same, etc etc.
So to see them agree that what other people's opinions of them don't matter (something all of them struggled with but these two especially) warms my heart. It's like they're telling each other "You don't need to worry about what anyone thinks of you. Your life has worth regardless."

one of the worst opinions about ride the cyclone i've ever seen is someing saying that ricky conceding is "ableist" because it implied that being disabled means life isn't worth living ??
in most of the scripts, ricky was already pretty much dying. he probably knew that he wouldn't live much longer anyway.
idk as a disabled person whose physical disability could potentially kill me, the script change pisses me off (although i don't see many productions actually do the change)
