Gender transition is broadly socially acceptable and medically supported in Jovia, though political attitudes on it vary. The common conservative attitude is that there are three genders: male, unisex, and female; and the only legitimate goal of gender transition is complete surgical sex reassignment. Working reproductive organs can be grown with an individual's DNA, and the most normative way to transition is "match" your sex organs with your chosen gender. Obviously it gets more complicated than that in practice, though, because not everyone is interested in "matching," nor can everyone who transitions take on the risk of major abdominal surgery. There is also an overall perception that the older you are when you decide to transition (or god forbid if you transition more than once) the more undignified it is, and the more inconvenient it is for the other people in your life. So Gillie had a very normative transgender experience for Jovian culture, except for her surgery aversion; while Mel had a very normative medical transition but had to deal with a lot more social friction.

Venting I guess
Sorry the. Stuff with my therapist has been getting to me a lot recently. I feel stupid I kept going but it’s weird realizing. I would say facts about my life and she would actively ignore them or tell me something else. (Stuff like. Oh I’m scared my job isn’t training me. And she’d be like omg no ur a competent engineer!)
And I guess. Ughhhhj realizing how little support I have compared to orher people. The rebound of that is hitting really badly. And that someone I trusted saw my situation and began saying i was. Stupid. For having issues. And would tell me I was wrong when I’d try to talk about stuff.
I guess I feel stupid I kept going but. It was nice to imagine like oh here’s an old adult who would care if something happened.
