This wasn't the kindest version of herself. Atlas knew she was being blunt with the other elf but she never knew when Caia would disappear or when they would see each other again. The joking helpd but Atlas knew she struck a nerve.
Atlas thought Caia had owed it to her every time but they held their tongue. "You did," Atlas agreed. Her head tilted, not understanding what her head might have to do with it and their brow furrowed, gently brushing her fingers against her temple. It didn't really matter, not anymore. As much as she wanted to hold that grudge, the young elf hated to see the sadness in Caia's eyes. Her hand went from her temple to Caia's cheek before brushing back the hair from their eyes. "Thank you for letting me say goodbye. I already miss you."
Caia's eyes darted around Atlas' face as the elf brushed the hair from their eyes. This was as close to intimacy as they had ever gotten, which wasn't much, but it still caused something to stir in Caia's chest.
"There's no need for thanks," they said with a small nod before Caia leaned in to press a soft kiss to the corner of Atlas' mouth. "Goodbye, Atlas."
