Buck cries the first and last time and Eddie brushes the tears away and presses his lips to Bucks forehead both times.

Even after he'd become too weak to physically teach Eddie how to cook a little bit of everything, he had still tried. Sitting on the counter and enjoying the way he could boss Eddie around the kitchen.

Buck would have been gone in an instant, leaving only memories in his wake.

He didn't know how to watch Buck fade away, becoming a memory in real time, didn't know how to handle the knowledge that he'd be gone, not in a day, and not in a week, but eventually.
