Of a Good Story

Some things to know before following:

- I do not ship Kataang, largely because I feel it hurt his development in Book 3

- I will not be discussing other ships on here unless I feel the need to do so (might play a game of ‘how many posts can Kite make without mentioning other ships’ lol). On the rare chance I do talk about ships, it’ll mainly be about the Gaang Holy Trinity of ships (Sukka, Zutara, and Taang) and how it affects Aang’s character. 

- I do get salty about Aang’s character, and I tag as such. That being said, I don’t wish to excessively hate on Aang. He’s a lovely character, but his story did not have the strong finish he deserved.

- Everything here is to talk about Aang, and in my more grumpy of moods, going after Kataang. I will not discuss LoK’s failings on this blog unless it is directly tied to Aang. 

- I don’t wish to talk much about the creators and writers, except for how they wrote Aang and Kataang. What the creators have done has already been discussed to death, so unless a newbie comes in and needs a quick history lesson, I don’t plan on talking about them beyond the narrative choices concerning Aang.

DNI:

- no bigotry (you know the drill, so I won’t rehash it on a sideblog), and yes, I will block TERFs/SWERFs. yes, i will check. 

because they're the originator of the homophobic katara headcanon (just to ensure that zutara never got together and to prop up zukka)

like i'm still pissed that the writers decided to pit cultural preservation with disability access when 1) the northern air temple episode was very goofy in its depiction of knocking down a wall for a bathhouse when they could've just looked for a bathhouse and renovated it???? like why are you implying that the air nomads didn't bathe lol and 2) for all people yelling at parts of the fandom for dismissing the air nomad genocide (which they don't), i don't see quite enough people go 'hey the northern air temple episode was very messed up in its depiction'

they were the ones who spearheaded the homophobic katara headcanon during the pandemic lockdown (aka when everyone was terminally online lol), so in my book, i don't like them. they propped up the ship with her brother because colonizer x colonized ships are bad unless it's gay. it was a giant mess of misogyny, racism, and radfeminism in that 'oh, katara has to defend herself 24/7 from zuko's evil but her brother doesn't need to do that because i subscribe to patriarchal thinking'

ck aren't like. harassing levels of afp because they didn't try to block evade like he does as far as i remember, but i personally just don't care for someone who has headcanons like that, especially for one of my fave characters.
