In her letter to Mike, El says maybe the painting is for a girl. El has not seen the painting and these letters are CODE. Will is the builder. Maybe Will built the False Hydra for the MF and made it a coded love confession for Mike as well.
Will says that El told him what to draw. What if we could interpret this as the MF told him what to draw. Mike's coat of arms is a heart (on the nose), and that's what holds this whole party together. In context of the painting, without heart, the party falls apart and succumbs to the False Hydra.
On the nose also means "to a person's sense of smell". You can smell if the party is held together or not.
I know that "the smell" can be explained by other things, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

This. makes. no. goddamn. sense. Idk about y'all but I feel extremely liable to madness.
"It must consume 120 creatures to accumulate 7 heads" The false hydra in the painting has 3 heads, which means 8 people were consumed.
"The false hydra sings a discordant song. All creatures within 5 miles are charmed by the false hydra until the song ends"
But it's a Never Ending Story. The song doesn't really end, in fact it's still going.
A discordant song -> a song of chaos.
The abyss is pure chaos. Tharizdun is the father of the abyss. A warning:
"During a long rest, a charmed creature makes a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw. If a creature's saving throw is successful, their subconscious mind will reach out to them in an attempt to warn them of the false hydra's presence, possibly in the form of a note scrawled as they slept, or by some other means at the DM's discretion".
Dustin has a tone. A Discordant Song could be like a tone. We could also consider that the painting is an attempt to warn Mike of the false hydra.
"The song ends if the false hydra makes a bite attack"
Dustin bites this dude when he's attacked at the cemetery. If people are charmed while the song plays, then this would stop the charm.
Dustin is also friendly with Jake the Snake, and Hydra's are serpents. Also the tank is in red lighting.
"...they take root in communities as a result of rampant falsehood" It is well known that the characters cannot stop lying to each other in S5.
"...especially the sense that someone is watching you" Insert literally any camera or 4th wall break from S4 and S5.
"Friend's faces seems subtly deformed" Stuntgate.
Overall the evidence is pretty weak, and could be explained better by other things. But, I thought I would give it a go.
