Non verbal wiw who only has certain words he feels comfortable saying out loud, one of them being Mike’s name. But, he still has trouble pronouncing it, and keeps saying mikey instead of Mike (don’t know if it’s a good example but sort of like wall-e mispronouncing eve).
A bit of time goes by and Will starts being way more verbal and learning how to pronounce words correctly, he starts calling mike by his actual name. And at first Mike is all shocked and sad, and he doesn’t even understand why because, this is a good thing, Will is managing to speak out loud and speak in full sentences…But he can’t shake this feeling of loss as Will stops referring to him by the nickname, which he’ll only realise later was because it made him feel special and important to Will.
