what can one say about eunjoo? she's a bit aloof and distant and can seem like a bitch and that's because...well she kind of is? can you even blame her? her parents and older family all treated her like a pariah and secret to be kept hidden away at the back of the estate and there aren't even plans to marry her off because who would even want her according to them??

in terms of her illness it's a bit made up and a hodgepodge of symptoms i pulled from different illnesses. a little bit of tuberculosis that has her always pale, frail, a lack of appetite, a persistent cough after exertion, fevers and bouts of flare ups that become worse and cause her to vanish for weeks at a time, especially when younger. but also muscle and joint pain and a limp that was caused by having her leg cut open because muscles atrophied and contracted and had to be cut away so she could regain mobility. the limp is noticeable and she always has her cane present when walking the grounds. at official events or for things more political and to show power, she'll often have a lady in waiting or someone to lean on as her parents don't like her cane or people seeing her use it.

like i said, she's a bit antisocial but it wasn't by choice. her parents had her shut in the back and all she had was books and siblings so she doesn't have great people skills and can seem blunt, direct, or even rude. she's doing her best, please help her. tell her people don't enjoy being spoken to in that fashion, especially since she obviously didn't learn kindness from her parents.

now that she's twenty five, she's got it in her head that it's time to do something, probably a dumb idea she got from a heroine in a book. she needs to leave the estate and grow and have experiences and break free from the oppressive grip of her family and their expectations.

maybe letting her read was a really bad idea because she's getting all sorts of ideas about how things should be and how they shouldn't and it really isn't endearing her to her family very much. hmm.

maybe a little revolt for lunch? breaking of chains for tea time? could happen, y'know!

she's very prickly and hard to like at the moment but please don't let that scare you. it's because all she's known is being a disappointment.

how would we feel about some found family? maybe someone who accepts her for who she is and doesn't see any of it as a flaw or reason to be ashamed?

who wants to plan a revolution or engage in shenanigans to throw off the status quo? do you need an inside source? a spy of high status that could get gossip, talk to those you can't reach, or spread rumors in your favor? eunjoo's your girl.

girlie has never had romance or a crush (on her or her on others) but i'd love for her to have a first love type of relationship. it doesn't have to be end game or serious, though it could be. just something where eunjoo feels wanted and safe and protected for once would be nice for her.

a rival/enemy royalty? maybe they're antagonistic to her about how her family sees her as a shame and so the two verbally spare and throw dagger stares and it's a constant tit for tat but behind the guise of courtly behavior?

someone who gets her out of the estate and treats her like a human deserving of human experiences? someone who doesn't treat her like a kang or as if she's about to break.

speaking of about to break, maybe someone who means well but is always hovering and worried about her health and so it's very uncomfortable for both because they both know her health isn't good at all but also eunjoo hates to be pitied or coddled and wants them to leave her alone!!!

someone who found her out at the wishing well or lost cabin and is confused why a kang family member would even be somewhere like this?? it must be a mistake?? but wouldn't you know it, she's here again. what's going on?

maybe your character has a crush on eunjoo but she's so scared or suspicious that it crashes and burns spectacularly and we enjoy writing the fallout of it all lmao

headcanons.

elias  is  a  very  outdoors  person.  he  loves  to  get  dirty  and  use  his  hands  for  literally  everything.  a  lot  of  the  time  he  can  be  found  wandering  the  forests  if  he  needs  a  breather  or  tending  to  his  crops  and  animals.

he's  a  big  physical  touch  person.  hugging,  holding  hands,  hand  on  your  shoulder  when  you're  in  need  of  comfort  or  just  a  friendly  greeting.

has  a  great  dane  named  daisy,  she  is  the  sweetest  thing  despite  her  size  and  he  brings  her  literally  everywhere  with  him  ( because  he  loves  her  and  because  she  follows  him  everywhere ).  she's  very,  very  protective,  so  anyone  coming  near  his  house  needs  her  approval.

is  quite  picky  about  things  being  done  a  certain  way,  does  mean  he  can  be  a  little  controlling.  definitely  a  perfectionist.

likes  to  read,  but  isn't  the  best  reader.  his  mother  and  grandmother  didn't  provide  the  best  education  for  him  when  he  left  town,  so  he's  a  little  on  the  slow  side,  but  does  try  his  best.

along  those  lines,  he's  not  the  smartest  guy  on  the  block.  book  smart  at  least, he's  proficient  to  what  we'd  know  as  high  school  level,  a  very  low  high  school  level.  however  lack  in  book  smarts  make  up  for  in  street  smarts.

wanted plots.

would  love  to  see  someone  he's  close  to,  akin  to  a  best  friend,  but  they  still  don't  know  everything  about  him.  he'd  like  to  tell  them  one  day,  but  still  fears  his  demise.  despite  that,  he  adores  them  and  they  are  extremely  close  to  one  another  and  always  go  to  each  other  if  they  need  something.

childhood  friend.  this  would  be  someone  he  knew  when  he  was  younger,  when  his  name  was  hayoon,  before  his  mother  packed  them  up  and  left.  they  could  be  a  bit  younger  or  same  age.  preferably  no  one  older  because  i  liked  the  thought  of  elias  doting  on  them.  they  wouldn't  know  who  he  is,  but  there  would  definitely  be  a  "oh,  you  look  familiar"  type  vibe.

a  crush  🥲  probably  endgame  if  it's  requited.  elias  isn't  very  versed  in  the  field  of  love,  but  he  loves  love  and  has  always  wanted  to  fall  in  love  and  something  about  your  muse  has  completely  captivated  him.

or  maybe  someone  who  has  a  crush  on  him  ?

customers  !  people  that  visit  the  food  stall  very  often  and  he  always  goes  out  of  his  way  to  get  them  the  super  fresh  stuff  and  even  throws  in  free  stuff  here  and  there.  

perhaps  someone  that  has  offered  to  help  on  the  farm,  could  be  someone  looking  for  some  work  or  maybe  time  away  from  their  busy  schedule  and  he's  been  reluctant  to  say  yes,  but  ultimately  has  and  they're  currently  learning  the  ropes.

perhaps  someone  who  gets  him  out  of  his  house  a  little  bit  more  and  socialized  with  the  cooler  crowd.

maybe  someone  he  doesn't  get  along  with.  it's  quite  rare,  but  they  could  just  get  under  his  skin  in  the  worst  way  or  perhaps  your  muse  doesn't  like  him.

he  loves  taking  care  of  people,  so  perhaps  someone  he  can  dote  on  and  look  after  and  always  make  sure  to  bring  them  fresh  fruit  and  veggies  or  even  home  cooked  meals  and  desserts.

maybe  a  fling  ?  this  would  be  a  really  strange  for  him,  but  he  is  a  man  with  needs.

BASICS !

jeong siwoo, thirty years old, a widow of three years now and the famous owner of eternity.

he is someone who knows and is well aware of his growing entrepreneurship and wealth amongst society. needless to say, he doesn't fear the main three house but that doesn't mean he wants to fuck around with them. he draws a professional line with the three houses (or basically anyone per say) and does not have any interpersonal relationships with anyone from those household, mainly because it saves him the headache of any unwarranted drama. he does however enjoy tea ceremonies hosted by yeon and is well aware of who is behind yeon but doesn't snitch due to their mutual business relationships (siwoo enjoys teas and tea ceremonies but offers no gossips. yeon gets to host his ceremonies at eternity's private room in exchange).

tw / death. he was in an arranged marriage with his now deceased wife when they were both twenty four and twenty five respectively. despite it being arranged, they were both very much in love. his belated wife passed away just roughly two years into their marriage from being medically poisoned. she was also in her fifth month term of pregnancy.

in present time, he's being pressured to remarry so that there's an heir to inherit eternity but siwoo has no plans to remarry anyone due to his deep infatuation and remorse over his belated wife. instead, he's secretly seeking for adoption of a possible heir or to bring in a mentee whom he will name as an heir. (wanted connection!)

backgrounds on eternity: siwoo was in his late seventeen when he inherited the no name hotel from his late father, leaving him an orphan as well. the no name hotel is then revamped by seventeen year old siwoo who then renamed it to be [eternity]. it's a miracle how eternity managed to get its fame that there were rumors that siwoo had been associated to shamans, people who practice dark magic/supernatural beings, or even that he lured people to his property. others have said that when a nearby prince who had been undercover/traveling to beonhwa had fallen sick, it was whatever is going on at eternity that the royalty recuperated well. no one truly had known how eternity had got its fame especially after the change in reign, and siwoo refuses to budge when prompted or asked to comment on the rumors. what matters now is that the reservation list will always be occupied and unless you know siwoo personally, one may have to wait even over a year to be able to stay at eternity for even just a day.

INTERACTIONS !

siwoo can be found in formal events amongst the main houses, or even cultural/private events that is hosted by the orchid opera houses. he hates attending formal events but has to 'show his face' out of courtesy when required, whereas he enjoys the later since his late wife was fond of performances, particularly involving traditional korean instruments. it would be nice to write a plot where he gets called out on attending formal events where he shows his disdain as much as he hides it, or alternatively if y our muse and him would somehow always be seatmates for shows at the opera house!

honorable guests at eternity. while he owns it, it doesn't necessarily mean he's there 24/7; trusting his management and staff well for things to be in control. finding him there is a sort of an honor which your muse is bestowed? casual conversation, or even attempts of flirts (for muses above twenty seven) ensues? alternatively: he gets mistaken as a guest in his own busi and your muse thinks he's a tourist, hence an impromptu travel guide around beonhwa

someone who looks up to him and wants him to be a mentor or sort (without the naming of heir part)

down the line, a possible fling or someone he has fwb with (for muses that are 27-30), will have to work on trust and chemistry for this

alternative take, your muse having a harmless crush on him that's definitely one-sided and won't be reciprocated by siwoo if you want to sign your muse up for some angst

someone he has business-to-societal benefits with. your muse who makes an appearance with him as his plus one to boost their own name/social standing while he gets insight on the main family/things that could boost eternity's standing and profit.

someone who constantly sees him by the beach alone, wondering why he comes here so often to stare at the scenery before leaving without doing anything in particular) a rather personal angst plot which involves talks of death

someone who thinks of him as a friend? and alternatively, a take where they no longer are friends especially after his late wife passed.

maybe someone who visually resembles his wife a lot and that makes him delirious in a way? (don't particularly need to be a romance connection) but will def go for the angst route

his mother was an opera singer, renowned for her talent and beauty. daewon idolizes his mother quite a bit. there were whispers that she was killed because she was a noble's mistress, yet his mentality is 'don't care it was the man's fault mom did nothing wrong' ( he has no clue what went on but there will be no im hyejin slander ).

he does not know shit about his father. he could be dead in a ditch, daewon would have no idea. he blames all of his bad traits on him.

for the first six years and some odd months of his life, he was raised by his mother in the beonhwa outskirts. his mother tragically passed in a house fire, leaving him to stay with the neighbor who rescued him until his eventual adoption by the house of magnolia at age 7.

magnolia's third in line ; he has no drive to rise any further in the ranks.

he's been busting his ass for his house since he was young to both rise up to the third spot, and now to maintain his position. he has a weird sense of obligation to the house for doing the bare minimum.

*˖ ⠀personality.

so very smart, but so very dumb. he's just a silly goofy lad.

tries his absolute best to be someone that's kind and approachable. though sometimes when he opens his mouth he's too critical or insensitive that he accidentally comes off as an asshole. (good intentions, terrible execution)

goes through periods of being very high energy and very low energy.. he's never in the middle.

he deals with a lot of conflicting feelings regarding his adoption — he's grateful for his basic needs being met but the amount of expectations that come along with being a child of one of the three houses weighs him down. he misses the freedom of just being daewon, the opera singer's son and not being im daewon, magnolia's third in line.

big on masking, both his mental health and feelings. his public persona is that of someone fairly easy-going, on the chattier side, could be perceived as fun but in a calm way, someone focused heavily on his pursuit for knowledge / those who see who he really is in private are used to dealing with both sides of him. one of being a bit quieter, not feeling like he has to engage as much as he does in public. they're used to him being more impulsive, freely making jokes and letting his feelings slip more often than not.

(for older muses) people that knew his mother ; he would love to hear stories about her.

(again, implied for older muses) someone that recognizes him for the stressed out child he is and has that underlying urge to baby him, bonus points if they too, are just a stressed out child.

someone that sees daewon sneaking out on a regular and is wondering why he's always vaulting over the fence of the magnolia residence like he's some anime protag late for school.

moon tavern regulars!! he's there occasionally when he wishes to unwind. the lively atmosphere makes him feel right at home.

fellow animal lovers, daewon is a stray feeder, overly attached to animals that aren't his. he would listen to someone talk about their pet for hours — he's also this post for sure.

when daewon was younger, he was saved by one of his neighbors from a house fire. this same neighbor let him stay with his family until he was adopted by the house of magnolia. so any family to this neighbor, or for an older muse, the neighbor himself.

someone that points out to daewon that he shouldn't feel so obligated that he was given basic necessities, maybe they have a darker view of how house of magnolia takes in these children and how exploitative it can be.

As the second born of the House of Gladiolus, Yujin had a pretty good life, being raised by loving parents and grandparents and having a great relationship with his older brother. He was spoiled, even. No one could resist his charming smile, from a young age.

But then, everything changed as he turned eight and Yeonsu was kidnapped. The youngest was understandably heartbroken and overwhelmed, since he always looked up to his brother. Now, he was the sole heir, or so, everyone seemed to believe. And with that, he had to take on a lot more responsibility and be prepared for the task at hand. He barely had time to grieve before being put on special training.

His days of wandering the fields of Beonhwa and exploring alone were over, now everywhere he went, he was guarded by at least three knights. Not that with time, he didn't learn how to evade them but that's another story.

He went through knight training and passed after three years, but in that time, it became evident to Yujin that he wasn't fit to be a knight. He doesn't like fighting, at all. Would rather use his natural charm and diplomatic skills to solve problems

Deep down, he never lost hope that Yeonsu would eventually be found, and so, taking his place never felt right to him

Personality wise, he's: Optimistic, stubborn, charming, lazy if he's forced to do things he doesn't like, determined, loyal.

Even though he didn't do as well as expected on his knight training, Yujin was at the top of his classes on the academy on most subjects. Now, if only that mattered to his family members

Some older members of the Gladiolus House think he's being too selfish for not meeting his expected duties as a knight, while others praise him for his great analytical, strategic and diplomatic skills. Going as far as saying he might be better suited to lead the house one day, even with his brother coming back.

But he's not interested in the position, and would never try to take it. Like it's mentioned before.

Now that Yeonsu's back, the two are still trying to get used to each other again, catch up on the 15 years apart

Yujin has an artistic side to him, he really likes music and can play piano really well. One of his favorite spots in Beonhwa is the Orchid Opera House

From being shielded from the rest of the world, as much as possible, by his family since they couldn't afford to lose him as well, his views on Beonhwa are biased. He thinks things are great the way they are and shouldn't change

Once you're into his inner circle, Yujin will always have your back. He's fiercely loyal and protective of the ones he loves

basics!

raised as the 3rd child (and currently) the only male among siblings, there's a certain expectations that his father holds on him even if he isn't the heir apparent. his upbringing is a little more strict, since he can't be married off as easily as they do with daughters for political gains or for the benefits of families, so his parents decides that juyeon should learn as much as he could.

he started picking the gayageum when he was four; a genius they would call him. his father's men would predict him being a traditional music instructor down the line. but as juyeon grows up, sure he enjoyed the gayageum but his interest lays elsewhere just as his fear continues to impede on him as he grows older.

young juyeon has a fear for disappointing his father, as much as he hates being compared to his older and younger siblings. there's this line of being in the middle as well as (currently) being the only son that makes it hard to appease his father in living up the house of mugunghwa's name and honor.

in present time, juyeon attends beonhwa academy on alternate weekdays. no one knows why someone of his age is still learning when he's good enough to teach in the academy itself, but studying has always been what juyeon knows best ever since a child. what better way to keep learning than to be in the academy he has rights to. knowledge is vast to him regardless.

however on certain weekends, you may find him at the orchid opera house as a performer. something he's been doing since a child though when he was younger where he used to perform once every two months. now it's more biweekly in comparison due to his flexibility in performance now that he's older and more skilled in his crafts. if you're lucky enough to attend a session by the honored member of the house of mugunghwa, you may find juyeon showing his crafts in gayageum, daegeum or in modern piano. mostly in solo acts rather than in groups unless performed with his siblings. being able to witness his performance is considered a high honor of invitation or wealth indication.

because knowledge is power to him, he ends up being addicted to info exchanging. a fancy term he uses for gossiping. perhaps addiction is an understatement. it's a form of payment he receives as 'yeon', the anonymous tea ceremony host who is known to wear a traditional korean mask that changes every week and every client. he doesn't speak much in these sessions to maintain his anonymity, often only brewing the finest tea one could savor and using the tea as a form of a 'yes' and 'no' indication. you cannot physically purchase a session with yeon no matter how much you can pay for as he only seeks you out if there is any valuable information amongst the houses if one can provide. likewise, if one wishes to seek information that he has then they will need to exchange another information of their own to him. in such case where a deal is struck, he will write the information on a paper in hanja only.

there's a lot more to unravel about juyeon and his relationship with his family as well as himself but it will be developed eventually as he gets more interaction!

things i would like to write!

fellow beonhwa academy attenders. whether they share the same class and what not!!!

a regular of juyeon's performance attender??? maybe someone who is interested in him (musicality wise, wants him to perform in their own banquet or whatever??) or like a crush on him???

people he could exchange vital information on houses for the tea ceremony he hosts. whether he sends you out information or that your muse is desperate to know of.

someone who feeds him the info that a family member WITHIN the house of mugunghwa (marigold) is not holding alliance to the house name. (this is more so for the development of his letent rose canon) can be done discretely, or in his tea ceremony session.

a possible betrothed ??? for political stance/for the benefit of the family, so both families could be richer and what not???? they don't have to necessary be romantically acquainted. could be a pact, maybe they plan a divorce down the 2-3 years of marriage?? slow burn even??? (applicable for muses aged '99-'03 liners, family in different houses/upcoming merchants/rich business owners)

fake friends or whoever just want to be acquainted to the house of mugunghwa. i would say juyeons a loser. doesnt have much friends so i could see some people try to take advantage of that eventho he may?? will??? reject their advances.

at some point maybe one person who discovers he's yeon. tries to either blackmail him, or for their own benefit. get info out of him.

heir apparent of house gladiolus

twenty-seven old man (weeping for older fcs)

was born to the yi family of gladiolus

as a young child growing up, yeonsu was very naturally talented at everything he learned and picked up from academics to physical training! he also had great relations with his parents and grandparents

wasn't exactly doted on but was regarded with as much respect as the growing heir apparent could get so that he would understand his role from a young age versus being treated as a usual child would be

at 12, yeonsu was kidnapped during a large town celebration hosted by the villagers after the house of gladiolus supported them against an issue with the nobility. it was clear that families of the nobility were behind the kidnapping however there wasn't any concrete evidence to pinpoint which families were responsible for hiring kidnappers

a ransom was demanded for yeonsu's life along with certain demands to accommodate the nobility. however, the yi family came to odds against each other between deciding how to save yeonsu and what was the right thing to do for the people as a whole

during this time, yeonsu was able to escape from his kidnappers after finding a moment of opportunity. he was chased to a town far from beonhwa where he found refuge within a poor town - collapsing in front of a small farmer family that took him in.

yeonsu's escape was kept secret from the yi family as the kidnappers continued to hunt him down. he was only able to survive after being hidden in a home full of sick villagers where he then fell ill with pneumonia from being exposed to the sick along with all the distress his body and mind were under.

eventually, the kidnappers stopped looking for yeonsu and it was reported to the yi family that yeonsu was killed due to their inability to pay the ransom or accommodate the nobles.

for his safety, his adoptive mother encouraged yeonsu to assume a new identity as one of their children until someone from his family came to retrieve him - unaware of his true background. from a poor farming family in a town barely able to sustain itself, there was no one that would be able to truly protect yeonsu or provide him safe passage back to beonhwa.

thus, yeonsu became chae dohwan. as the years passed by with no one from the yi family ever coming to search for yeonsu, he slowly let go of the hope that he would ever be found and truly began assimilating into his life as dohwan.

after 15 years, yeonsu was finally pulled back to his past and true identity when his true birth mother suddenly showed up after hearing about yeonsu through many attempts of contact from his adoptive mother.

with his true identity confirmed and restored, yeonsu was immediately whisked back to beonhwa to return to his rightful place as the heir apparent of the gladiolus house.

personality

yeonsu is going through A LOT of internal conflict and strife!! it's only been about three months since he's returned. short enough of a time to still feel out of place, but long enough to have a routine established.

kind of feels like impostor syndrome but? he's the real deal hello! how do you deal with that?! aka he's feeling suffocated on top of all the other negative feelings!

he's in an odd place of reassimilating into the lifestyle of those in beonhwa

for one, he misses his family dearly and is struggling with trying to reconnect with his original family after finding out the truth all these years that they had believed he was dead this entire time

from the fifteen years he's lived as a poor farmer, there are a lot of things about politics, luxury, power, and the people of beonhwa that yeonsu is having a hard time accepting with ease

but wait! underneath all the commotion dotion yeonsu is actually a heckin great guy! smart, strong, talented! and super control of his emotions actually which is why he hasn't lashed out or anything. he just needs to catch a break!

a huge feast is being held at the house of gladiolus officially celebrating yeonsu’s return. it’s too much though and yeonsu wishes he was anywhere but there. while muse sneaks around the estate to secretly find a quite place, yeonsu follows to join them.

muse doesn’t know that know or realize that yeonsu is the newly returned heir apparent of the gladiolus house. they catch him on the street interacting with non-nobles and start treating him like one of them ! (could be a positive or negative interaction!)

beonhwa's self-proclaimed it girl

super bright, sweet, and cheerful......overall nice to everyone she comes across

but she can also come off as super ditzy and spoiled

spends almost all her free time at the establishments on flora lane (so if you're ever looking for her that's probably the first place to look after the mugunghwa estate)

overall she just sees the best in people and really does just try her hardest to be kind since she knows how lucky she was to have been brought up in such a privileged household

however, her home life has never been as easy as her public persona makes it seem

as the youngest child, she didn't bear much responsibility as her elder siblings, but she was engaged at a young age for political purposes

because of this, she was raised under direct supervision by her mother who expected nothing less than perfection from her daughter

her strict upbringing made dasom v quiet at home as she was afraid that the slightest mistake might upset her mother

she was often kept from her siblings to focus on her personal lessons despite desperately wanting to spend time playing with them growing up

now days, she wants to fall in love and become her own person with interests not dictated by her mother

however, she is still at her mother's beck and call, and will cower and give in at any command she's given
