yeonsu admittedly hasn’t found many places in beonhwa that he’s fond of. although he favors the fields past the outskirts of beonhwa, it’s not exactly a place that he can always escape to at a moment’s notice. that realization was something that he had come across fairly soon in his search for finding time alone without anyone to accompany him to a new place or extra supervision to keep track of his whereabouts. 

so he looked for the next closest thing he could find that could offer him somewhat- privacy and space in the same way the fields did.

“beonhwa’s library is a great place to go when you’re hiding from people,” yeonsu cracks a small smile. “i don’t love the reading i have to do but you know, i’ll take that any day. besides, having someone like you- who isn’t constantly breathing down my back, it’s not too bad.”

wishful thinking had never been something rivers was known for. being wishful at all, in fact. he was a realist down to the cold marrow in his bones. a horrible cynic and pessimist, but a true realist amidst all the other distasteful layers of perception.

but there’s no denying that the romantic artist in him longs sometimes. it’s an empty longing that occasionally stirs in him every now and then. and he tastes it on the tip of his tongue with each herbal smoke that he finishes - each one less satisfying than the one before. it keeps him steady enough though without having to break the damning promise he made to the dead (wholly regretting ever making it).

with a deep sigh, rivers figures that if anything, it should be a practical one in thought and slight honor of the one who cared for him, “i wish tobacco wouldn’t stink so fucking much so that i wouldn’t have to smoke this flower shit.”
