in plainest words put simply- he isn’t.
yeonsu isn’t looking forward to the holiday season whatsoever. a part of him feels captive to the lifestyle he’s been drawn into, and it’s become harder and harder every single day to maintain the emotions festering underneath where he has no outlet.
with all eyes on him, advisors and educators breathing down his back, and the leaders of the knights all surrounding him- there’s no where for him to turn to even breathe a sigh of relief. sleep at night barely seems to offer any refuge with the lasting effect of burning gazes ingrained into the outer layer of his skin.
but there’s a look— a hopeful gleam in yujin’s eyes as yeonsu’s gaze dances from their parents to his, and yeonsu finds that he can’t bring himself to say anything that might hurt the younger.
“the snow,” yeonsu answers with a halfhearted smile. “i’ve heard some of the knights talking about how sightly the snow looks in beonhwa during crocus.”
it’s half a lie. because the knights he heard talking about the snow dreaded crocus season the most with it’s fierce and biting cold they had to endure during training. and the other half? the snow was the same wherever you went, and maybe that was why he chose it in his last second decision as he thought of the snow in the fields back at home.
