1. Race is scared af of fish, so when he's being annoying, spot will dangle him off the harbour over the water to "let the fish get him," and he freaks out every time ( I think I might have read this somewhere else now that I think of it so credit to whoever published it first!)

2. When Jack is annoying tf out of davey, he will grab his suspenders, pull them, and let go so they smack him (if u get what I'm trying to say 😭)

3. Races lucky card is the 8th of diamonds and he carries it around in his pocket

4. Mush CONSTANTLY steals Blinks hat off his head and runs away with it, thinking it's the funniest thing ever

5. Crutchie and race are constantly getting told off by kloppman because once its lights out, they get the giggles and can't stop😭

6. Mush the typa guy to find EVERYTHING funny, like he is so easily amused and easy to make laugh

7. Skittery is really unpredictable, like he'll be like "Guys watch this," and just jump into the splits or something 😭

8. Because spot has a common dog name, race always makes fun of it by throwing a stick for him and calling him "Good boy," and he gets SO mad

9. Skittery deffo twists every word ever said it to him to make the person look bad. Somebody would be like "omg this apple is huge." And he's be like "did u just say I'm huge?" When he heard them FINE 😭

10. When spot has someone he doesn't like join his crew he gives them a horrible nickname like "spunk" or something 😭

spot acting like a mafia boss and all of brooklyn treating him as so. jack just treating him normally and being very confused by the mafia stuff

davey absolutely ROASTING everyone with his #superior intelligence /j

the newsies throughout the seasons (how they act around holidays, playing in leaf piles, etc)

accurate and varied depictions of panic attacks: SPECIFICALLY with race, albert, and kathy

davey going to school part time and selling newspapers part time

medda at her theater, rehearsing and recruiting som kids to help with the set

sarah singing while davey plays piano??

crutchie being an unbothered diva and laughing at everything stupid that race does

like come on

1. Mush is literally the CLINGIEST person EVER, like if he likes you, that's it,he is physically latched onto you whenever you're around.

2. When race goes to see spot in his lodging house (he has to climb to up to a window so nobody sees), he always calls spot a princess in a tower and it drives him INSAINE.

3. Skittery is the typa guy to just randomly start laughing and giggling hysterically out of nowhere, and everybody just kinda stares at him (he's a little insaine, but that's okay)

4. Davey was on the debate team when he was at school, but his speeches were always too long, and he got frustrated when he couldn't get his point across fast enough ao he quit (that happened to me)

5. After almost every race, Race goes down and tries to convince the owner to let him go pet the horses,they only said yes once and he won't let it go

6. In Brooklyn, if somebody is refusing to get out of bed in the morning spot will literally just pick them up and throw them off the docs into the water outside 😭

7. Davey and his dad have the most unbreakable bond ever.

8. Jack picks up on 'fancy' words davey uses and then uses them incorrectly when talking.

9. Crutchie is the WORST sleep talker ever. He just babbles in his sleep but doesn't say anything that makes sense

because everything we know about spot conlon before we meet him is that he's scary. he's a brute. he's the king. none of the other borroughs will do shit until they hear spot's on board. and the brooklyn newsboys are a rough bunch when we meet them. they're intimidating and goonish and they all take their orders from spot conlon.

but he's just a BOY. he may be the king of brooklyn. he may have an attitude and an ego bigger than his own size. but he's just a BOY who is so excited to see his picture in the paper and it's a reality check for the audience because they're all just boys.

they all have dreams and their dreams aren't even that big. "a porcelain tub with boiling water" THAT'S what spot wants. that's his line in "king of new york" -- it's such a simple wish and such a small comfort that he does not have despite being dubbed "the king of brooklyn" and all the power and respect that comes with it.

like it turns my brain inside out because you have to think what a life this kid must be living -- what life this kid must have lived before being a newsie -- that he's yearning off into the distance dreaming about taking a bath in a tub of hot water. that he's so excited to see his name and his photo in the paper that he's near-giddy looking for it over jack's shoulder.
