okay ‘tis the season, newsies halloween costumes let’s gooooo
jack — cowboy. all the elements are thrifted, including his vintage boots and leather hat (it was his daddy’s) and a hand-woven belt from mexico. he Commits. it’s the one night a year he gets to be as embarrassing as he wants without worrying about his image.
david — something low-stakes and unobtrusive, made out of clothes he already has. maybe a detective or librarian. once or twice he’s gone as something a bit more heady — one of those pub costumes — and regretted it so bad when he had to keep explaining his costume to people.
katherine — a fairy, or perhaps a medieval fantasy princess. she goes All Out for costumes, including makeup. she loves an excuse to wear glitter, and loves to do her hair up in fun styles. she’d kill a sabrina carpenter costume. she has also totally gone as a cowgirl or one of the rdr2 girls before to match with jack.
crutchie — something considerably lazy. he is not willing to sacrifice comfort for a costume. more than once he’s just worn an animal onesie and called it a day, but i feel like he’d have fun as a pirate or something especially horror-y just so he can try to scare people all night. it usually does not work, but at least he gets to be annoying.
oscar — is deeply embarrassed to love halloween as much as he does. he’ll do a vampire (has absolutely done remmick from sinners), carmy from the bear, usually just something vaguely pop culture that doesn’t take Too much effort but does get him attention.
morris — his costumes vary a lot depending on how he’s feeling. he’s done a vampire before to match with oscar, but he commits more to the historical and goth elements. he’s gone as mimikyu before in a big hoodie, gone as buster keaton or various classic silent film roles, gone as someone from the lost boys, victor from corpse bride.
mush — he has gone as male poison ivy more than once, wrapped in those plastic vines. he also loves his pun costumes, and he is So glad to explain them to anyone who asks.
blink — once went as male harley quinn to match mush, specifically that masc design of her suicide squad look. he deeply resents being told he should dress as a pirate just because of his eye patch, so adamantly refuses to. he does love a fantasy look though, the loose flowy shirts and tight high-waisted pants. he gets accused of being a pirate and ends up sulking.
racetrack — the dumbest stuff imaginable. fred durst from limp bizkit, pitbull, the “you was at the club” guy. he’s gone as a formula 1 driver once or twice, “because racetrack!”, and as a jockey with a hobby horse.
sarah — hand makes her costumes and absolutely commits. little red riding hood, dorothy, pearl from x/pearl, lydia from beetlejuice. she’s done historical looks a few times, just for the fun and to challenge herself — she takes a flapper costume Very seriously, no fringe or bodycon dresses in sight. she and kath sometimes match.
spot — their costumes are completely unpredictable, but pretty consistently lazy. she dresses as whatever strikes her fancy day of, which can vary wildly depending on where the gender’s at. sometimes it’s freddy krueger, sometimes it’s a lazy witch, sometimes it’s one of those “this is my costume” hoodies.
skittery — he is not wearing a costume. you’re lucky if he’s even coming to the party.
