There’s a popular post going around that’s like “well tone indicators are helpful for people for anxiety because some people need stuff like “ /nm (not mad)” or “ /nbh (nobody here)” and I absolutely get it because I have an anxiety disorder but like. You can very much add that on the text of a message itself and it will be way more clear and accessible than expecting them to memorize this whole new fabricated code.
Which one do you think will be clearer, faster to understand, and more direct to the point:
“oh my god someone is pissing me off /nbh”
“oh my god someone (not from this server, don’t worry) is pissing me off”
or
“have you done the dishes? /nm
“have you done the dishes? don’t worry, im not mad, just wondering”
You can be mindful of someone else’s needs and talk to them in a way that is respectful and understanding of those needs. The key is communication. Expecting people to memorize a lot of abbreviations is like the contrary of accessible.

Those were 2.20 minutes well spent!
the real houdini
Here’s a thing that happened to one of my friends. I was there.
Basically, we were walking down the sidewalk, talking about something meaningless. I think it had to do with a movie. Then this bus screeches up, stops next to us, and a bunch of people with “Down with Cis” shirts climbed out and started beating him up. I was punched and kicked a bit too, but I managed to avoid brutalization by going for their faces. After figuring out what’s happening, I started attacking them back, getting them off of him. He was quite injured but I called 911 and he made a full recovery at the hospital. I was fine, with only a cut on my arm that they patched up.

Jesus, after coming back from the dead: hey guys it’s me Jesus, just look at the scars on my hands

gay ppl who inject the concept of homophobia into the social structures of their magical fantasy worlds bc they want to use their own work as an outlet to talk and vent a little about their personal experiences:
straight ppl who inject the concept of homophobia into the social structures of their magical fantasy worlds bc the concept of gay ppl being happy and accepted is too “unrealistic” and they have absolutely nothing to actually say about the issue and just included it for the sake of watching us suffer:
OBSESSED with the fact that there’s a redditor out there who calls themselves “PISS BOT” but carries themselves with the unflappable politeness of a confused Victorian gentleman.
wtf uma musume is an isekai for dead racehorses????
imagine peacing out at the glue factory and then you miraculously wake up and look like this
Maybe I should use my powers for evil just a tiny bit.
A little villainy here and there.
As a treat
court jester sucking the king silly right there on his throne, in full view of the guards
His stupid little hat jingling away
the king develops a pavlovian response to jingling bells
This is the reason why I'm still in this post apocalyptic site, nowhere else we have this level of unhinged, unmarketable interaction. No corps, no social celebs, only pure chaos.

Lots of names started out as “son of [x]” or “the guy who makes [y]” and I for one think that should mean you can pick your own last name any time you like but it has to be literally accurate.
the concept and idea of “you can always start trying to be a better person” is extremely important to me both in media and irl and i continue to be deeply deeply disturbed by the trend on this site pushing that these ideas in media are bad writing or even morally reprehensible
because theyd rather someone stay terrible or just straight up die than become a better person
from a compassionate point of view it’s deeply distressing and from a pragmatic point of view it’s outright frustrating
it’s fucked up.
What is the most important step a man can take?
The next.
I think part of the pushback about this is the idea that, to “redeem” bad people, their victims must first forgive them for unforgivable acts.
This is false. No one is obligated to forgive you. You can learn from your mistakes and become the best, kindest person on earth, and the people you’ve hurt still won’t forgive you, and you’ll have to accept that. And that doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to grow. Because we aren’t just “pure” or “sinful”, we’re complex.
