for those wondering, here is the current state of the ryan gosling universe in my mind
ryland, colt, and court - ryland and colt are twins with court being the older brother. the twins have few memories of their older brother due to a mix of being young/repression of abuse from their father. despite this colt and ryland are close and rykand often visits set/gets colt to come and visit his classes. court is their step-brother while ryland and colt share the last name grace (seavers is a stage name).
Seb and Dan - Dan is a younger cousin to the aforementioned lot. when grace got kicked out of the scientific community, inspired grace to be a teacher. Seb is Dan's father and they aren't on great terms (because of Dan's addiction). seb is a middle child with older sisters and younger brother (holland)
driver and luke - siblings. luke is older and closer to Courts age while driver is the youngest of the cousins. they had a fairly rough childhood but their dad or a parental figure in their life worked at an autoshop so they both spent time there and gained an interest in motor vechicles
Holland - uncle to Dan, ryland, colt, and court. Holly and court were of similar ages so they would hang out. Still, Holly was older than all of them so between that and the stuff Holland let her do, she was always the cool cousin. not very close with any of his siblings except the twins and courts mother. who he also doesn't see very often but who is more forgiving of his lifestyle
k and Ken - K is a fictional character that colt stuntmanned for and Ken is a hallucination from when ryland was in the coma

cant stop thinking about this. in this scene jud is going out of his way to be kind in a way benoit wouldn't even have THOUGHT to be. thats what this face says to me. jud has a dying woman in his arms and his first thought is to get her to forgive grace and to let her hatred go. he's sending her to death by absolving her of her life long hatred. he's gentle but firm about it, this is important, not just for martha, but for grace too. for jud too. this is his first time performing last rites and he does it through forgiveness. benoit having grown up as catholic would know what last rites are and how the other priests usually do them and know that jud is unique in this too. the look on his face is so tender. he genuinely thinks highly of jud
I feel like Wake Up Dead Man is the first time I've seen Blanc squash down a part of himself. Its a little moment, its so small, but when Jud gets in the car, and the musical song starts playing, he immediately turns it off. We get from this movie the implication that he grew up in a religious household, we know he's queer, he explicity has problem with the misogynistic and homophobic nature of religion. So when a priest gets in his car and a musical theatre song starts playing, it potentially gives something away to a man who could see wrong in Blanc for something he loves. And maybe I'm reading too much into it, but even though Jud has shown nothing but kindness and gentleness, we (and Blanc) had not seen his reaction to queer people. It is perfectly reasonable to worry about the reaction of a priest to something that could get you labelled as queer.

I do NOT care for Stanley Forbes.
Jack Brunswick? Yeah he deserves sympathy.
David Knight? Well we don’t know much of that phase so maybe.
Stanley Forbes? Nah✌🏼
I’m not saying he deserved to die, but it’s so annoying seeing the fandom, and even the show itself, infantilize and woobify the guy as if he didn’t use his journalism career to spew his racist ideologies to turn a town against an Indian family and ruin their life for 5 years.
Yes I know that Stanley formally apologized to the Singh family, but it still doesn’t change that he’s racist.
YES I UNDERSTAND that the reason why Stanley defamed Sal in the first place his because he was self-projecting his own dad onto Sal and thought that Sal was just like his dad —even though Sal’s crimes were ALLEGED and bro didn’t even do it.
And to that I say……..
THE DT KILLER WAS RIGHT THERE.
In the first book, Stanley literally compared Sal to the DT Killer and clearly claimed that Sal, an Indian boy who ALLEGEDLY killed his girlfriend, was worse than the DT Killer, a LITERAL serial killer who has killed 5 women plus other crimes. Why? Because he’s racist.
Look, I’m not saying that Stanley is entirely bad and that his death was deserved. Yes, he had a tragic childhood as Jack Brunswick with his father. His whole character arc was that he was better than his father. And while he was, he was also incredibly flawed. He had a chance to reform his identity as Stanley Forbes, and he used that identity to be a corrupt, racist journalist. He’s morally grey, and I’m sick of the fandom acting like he(and other characters in this book) are “100% pure angel baby beans🥺”.
Show Stanley though, oh yeah he deserves sympathy. Only because they felt the need to woobify him in the show because the fandom can’t handle morally complex characters.
I’ll make a brief part two on the Charlie Greene and Stanley Forbes conflict as well. I just wanted to get this out real quick.

Ironfox and Starstruck
Ok It been brought to my attention that there Is another crack ship for my boy Grace, and It unlocked so many possibility for me.
For those who don't know, I'm talking about Ryland Grace/Tony Stark aka Ironfox. Witch Is a pretty solid ship but all I could think about Is the similarities with another crack ship - Starstuck aka Ryland Grace/Tom Ryder.
Like Tony and Tom are famous and infamous for being big duchbags, they are both celebrities well known by everybody in they're worlds. And (in this case) they are both in love with a dorky science teacher and brilliant molecular biologist.
And now I can't not think about what if It happend in the same universe?
Ok think about Ironfox and Starstuck as past releshionships, maybe one was a thing in college and the other was before he became a teacher or something.. The important part Is that they happend before Project Hail Mary.
Like immagine the crew at the bar or something and they spiral by talking about past releshionships or something; and when It's Grace turn he drop not one but two bombs.
Everyone Is like, okey he's joking, because there's just no way that HE was with them.
But then he takes his phone and there are still picture, and everyone LOSES they're minds. Becouse what do you mean that the dorky ace colligue was with a MOVIE STAR and a SUPER HERO at some point in his life, like WHAT.
Do you see the vision, tell me that somene sees the vision. I don't know if I explain well the idea.
