It's a Tuesday in November of the year 2025, and Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein has us all in its clutches. The Creature in particular has really captured your collective imaginations as we all relive our love for a 207-year-old tale—and thankfully, the artists on Tumblr have our best interests at heart. Not defending David corenswet’s stance that we don’t know, but I want to offer another perspective:
David’s been cast as this new face of the DCU, and people say his high up boss is a Zionist. What’s to say speaking up in support of Palestine won’t cost David his job? Yes, there are people speaking up bravely, but it takes a lot to do that. And if there’s some legal issue with David being the new face of DCU, that’s not an easy spot to be in. A lot of us are in jobs where sharing politics costs us our livelihoods, and due to certain circumstances, it’s not easy to publicly take a stance. What we do with our private time and spaces is ours. David is from a rich white family and he may not fall into the same trouble some of us would if we spoke up. But we don’t know if or what kind of trouble he may even find. If there’s legal repercussions he could find himself in, that’s not a place a newly mainstream actor can afford.
And yes, he could still be on the wrong side of things, but I’m offering another pov since I don’t share all my political views at work ever. I wish everyone at a place of work shared the same opinions as me, because I’d feel safer around them, but it’s not possible to expect that at every workplace.
Ps. The thing with his wife’s opinions, my parents believe people with diff political views can be married, which I call bs on, esp if they involve extreme views, but idk the nuances of relationships like that. Not saying David knew of all her views like he prob does now, or if he sides with it. Yes, he could side with it and be a scumbag, anything has chance here. But when even James Gunn, his boss, isn’t saying what the movie could mean about openly, with its on the nose messaging, I don’t see how an employee can share something as the face of their new venture.
I was revisiting some older Hindi songs, and my Superman brainrot took over. Clark Kent would eat up the 2000’s Shah Rukh Khan love songs and the movies. The yearning in the songs, the lyrics, coupled with the dramatic plots with the healthier masculinity SRK portrayed and the family dynamics, oh Clark’s nosy ass would be invested and crying to them all. He would so vibe with the yearning in these songs omg, that man was reading Shakespeare for fun; when he discovers the beauty in poetry in other languages, he would be EATING them up. Oh Clark Kent, you would’ve loved beautiful Hindi and Urdu poetry 🤧
PS. every other language has better poetry out there than English and you’re in denial if you think otherwise
stop stop the thoughts you’ve put in my head right now…..
you know those TikToks filming non desi friends reactions to Kal Ho Naa Ho. I am now picturing that with Clark and my heart HURTS so bad
That’s ONE of the things that made me think of this 😭 it reminded me of how my non-desi friends eat up Om shanti Om, and I’d love to show Clark Kent the yearning. And my revisit of the songs fully sent me on the spiral

Real talk, how does Clark afford his fancy Metropolis high rise apartment with his journalist salary? What does his pay look like? I know he’s sending half his paycheck to Ma and Pa Kent, so how is he covering his expenses?
Can I put him in my pocket 😍😍
Loml fr, where is he 😭

James talks about Clark's loneliness and his lack of belonging 💙❤️
MAY YOU NEVER LOSE YOUR HYPERFIXATION
Can I say something that might be a controversial take here? I’ve been reading Clark Kent fics and there’s many where Clark apologizes for not being around, and promises to do better. And in some, he says he’d give up being Superman if the partner wants it. And that seems very OOC to me. I maybe wrong, so correct me. But Clark Kent seems to take his abilities as a gift he can use for good. Even if he didn’t have powers, he’d help others out. That’s who he is. Yes he’s also a lover boy and is down bad for his partner, and he can promise to be better and be more attentive, but saying he’d give up being Superman does not seem very him to me.
Taking other superheroes into consideration, Spider-Man also deals with some of the same issues and he continues on being Spider-Man even if his partners leave him. Because he takes the responsibility that came with his powers very seriously. And I think Clark and Superman are similar that way. What made superheroes super all that time ago was their willingness to do good at the cost of their own safety. They shouldn’t hurt others in this quest for doing good, but if they unknowingly did, they’d try to do better while balancing it all, and not abandon what they can do.
This is no way shade to any of the authors, I love the work everyone puts out. I wanted to point out what seemed off to me, if it changes anyone’s opinion on how they write him or perceive him.

Lex announces to the world Superman has a harem and it immediately backfires by everyone thirst posting about wanting to be his queen and bare his children so Lex retaliates by saying some shit about Superman being a bad lay, which again immediately backfires because how exactly does he know that

clark 100% is the one cooking in his relationship with lois. i mean the breakfast for dinner scene?? but also ma kent would NEVER have let him go out into the world without being able to whip up an entire homecooked meal fit for a family. clark can COOK and he fully intends to use it to feed the ones he loves.
also lois seems like the kind of person who figured out how to eat cheaply and on the go in college and never turned back. late night at the office? yeah she's eating dry cereal again from the emergency box she stores under her desk. that is until she gets herself a malewife like clark who makes sure she has plenty of packed meals to take to work with her
why I have 47 unfinished drafts and counting (it's not commitment issues, it's INSPIRATION) ✨
okay listen. LISTEN. before you come for me in the replies about "finishing what you start" and "discipline" and whatever other capitalist propaganda they're teaching in writing workshops these days, let me explain something.
those 47 unfinished drafts? they're not failures. they're not evidence that i can't commit to anything (though my dating history might suggest otherwise but that's IRRELEVANT). they are pure, crystallized inspiration caught in digital amber.
here's the thing about inspiration that nobody talks about: it's not supposed to be monogamous.
you know that feeling when you're three chapters deep into your current WIP and suddenly—SUDDENLY—your brain goes "but what if there was a world where music was illegal and the protagonist was a black market violinist" and your fingers are already opening a new google doc before your rational mind can intervene?
that's not ADHD (okay it might be a little ADHD). that's your creative brain doing exactly what it's supposed to do: making connections, building worlds, birthing stories that NEED to exist.
and yeah, sure, i could force myself to ignore that violinist story. i could be "disciplined" and stick to my current fantasy about the girl who talks to shadows. but here's what happens when you ignore inspiration: it dies. it shrivels up like a raisin and takes a little piece of your creative soul with it.
so instead, i honor it. i give it 2,000 words and a basic character sketch. i let it live in its own little document where it can breathe and exist and maybe—MAYBE—become something beautiful later.
because.. the secret: those 47 drafts aren't separate projects. they're all connected. the magic system from draft #12 might be perfect for the world in draft #31. the character voice i developed in that werewolf story i abandoned last month? she's exactly what my current protagonist needed.
it's like having a massive creative compost pile. everything breaks down and feeds everything else and eventually you get this rich, fertile ground where your REAL stories can grow.
also can we talk about how arbitrary "finishing" is? like, who decided that stories need endings? some of my favorite pieces of writing are fragments. half-thoughts. the literary equivalent of a really good tweet that makes you feel something indefinable.
my 47 drafts are love letters to possibility. they're proof that my brain is CONSTANTLY creating, constantly reaching for something new and exciting and weird. they're evidence that i haven't been beaten down by the publishing industry's obsession with "marketable" and "complete."
and honestly? having 47 unfinished drafts means i never run out of things to work on. writer's block who? i don't know her. i've got a cyberpunk fairy tale, a cozy mystery with necromancers, and a romance between a time traveler and someone who's stuck in a time loop just WAITING for me.
commitment issues would be giving up entirely. this? this is commitment to the craft itself.
(draft #48 is already calling my name but i'm trying to finish this blog post first. see? growth.)
