i’m accepting asks for everyone in la familia except Camilo. he’s got enough love already, and i’ve yet to see something for Isa or Mirabel that was so good, it had me simping twice as badly
if there’s romantic involvement with any of the married characters, it’s a poly arrangement, even if it is only implied
i’m not too big on angst, and i might argue a far-out non-canon complaint
i'll do smut, but asks of the kind from anon and underage users will be ignored

I find it hilarious how the Madrigal triplets have a dynamic based on birth order. Like, they were literally all born on the same day only a few minutes apart, but damn if they didn’t decide those minutes mattered. Julieta made it out of the womb first and decided that meant she had to be the Oldest And Most Responsible and took the mantle of Mom Sibling without batting an eye. And she and Pepa both looked at their younger-by-a-matter-of-minutes brother and went ‘Baby. You are baby.’
Meanwhile you’ve got Julieta’s kids, where the oldest acts like she’s an only child and the middle is the one who took on the Big Sister role and the baby is a Mom Sibling herself. And then you have Pepa’s kids, who don’t have a grain of responsibility between them, are all walking forces of chaos, and would have probably managed to accidentally burn the house down by now if the house wasn’t sentient.

May I request headcanons for Bruno crushing on someone for the first time after the ending of Encanto? Normal and NSFW please if possible? I thirst for my Rat King.
No NSFW Content in this one, unfortunately, but I may write that later.

He is so incredibly nervous.
Bruno knows he isn't very good with people and he tends to weird people out. He really doesn't want you to not like him.
So he ends up being extra awkward around you because he's trying so hard not to be.
It's endearing to watch him fall all over himself, but if he gets too embarrassed he will avoid you until he regains some dignity.
He does not plan to confess. His self-esteem is nonexistent and he doesn't think it's even a possibility that you would like him.
Fortunately, he's not very subtle about his crush.
If you're oblivious to it or too shy to make a move, Mirabel and Camilo will take it upon themselves to bully their uncle into confessing.
Initially, they try just convincing him to do it!
This does not work. He does not believe that A) You won't reject him or that B) You won't hate him afterward
So plan B is chaos. They threaten to tell you themselves.
This works much better.
His confession is awkward and nervous and he makes an attempt to disappear immediately afterward, but Camilo and Mirabel are blocking the door.
How about Encanto preferences with a shy fem S/O who has a crush but would leave flowers with notes of admiration.
Bruno
Seeing Bruno again after casita was rebuilt brought back a ton of memories. Specifically of the notes you use to leave for him, you’d always leave little notes and flowers for him especially if one of the villagers was being mean to him. He never found out it was you and you kept bringing flowers up to his room whenever you missed him. His whole cave was filled with flowers because you were heartbroken when he left, you spent every day thinking of how you’d tell him how you felt the second you saw him again. But now that he was standing in front of you,you fell speechless as if your voice disappeared. So you just ran up and hugged him instead,he hesitated for a moment before hugging you back. You wanted to be alone with him when you told him,not wanting to confess in front of everyone. You were about to ask him if you could speak to him alone, but he leaned down and simply whispered.
“I know it was you”
“What?”
“I saw you bringing flowers to my room” You didn’t say anything, not knowing how to respond. “I missed you too”
Camilo
“I’m gonna find out who’s sending the flowers and notes”
“And how do you plan on doing that, detective Camilo?” You teased,he handed you a piece of paper.
“I already have a list of suspects”
“Camilo, that’s almost every girl in town” Of course he’d think like that, but you were slightly offended that your name wasn’t there. Did he not want it to be you? Still you helped him with his investigation, you went through half the list on the first day. He tried to see if their handwriting was the same as the notes, but they weren’t even close. The next day you came back.
“Y/N there you are, let’s go” He immediately tried to pull you out of the house.
“Wait I need to use the bathroom” You lied but he let you go. You snuck into his room, leaving a new note for him that simply said ‘Good luck, detective’ You made your way down the stairs and nearly bumped into Camilo.
“I just need to grab something from my room,I’ll meet you at the door” Seconds later he ran down the stairs with the new note. “Y/N! They know!”
***
Another unsuccessful day,Camilo had gone through the whole list. You kept sending notes,he didn’t even seem to suspect you. You tried to be a bit more obvious but he still didn’t get it.
“I’m never gonna find them!”
“Camilo, you’re a terrible detective. A good one is suspicious of everyone, and you of all people should know that the best place to hide is in plain sight”
“You’re right,Y/N! It’s probably one of my family members playing a prank on me”
“What if it’s not?” You kept trying to hint that it’s you but he still didn’t get it.
“How do you know that?” You were completely done at this point. “It’s definitely one of them,Y/N. If it’s not, then who?”
“Me!” He finally realized, but only after you shouted. “I’m the one leaving the notes and flowers! And you didn’t even think that it could be me? Maybe you didn’t want it to be me”
“Y/N!” You were already on your way out with Camilo running behind you,and Casita trying to block your way. “Y/N,Please wait”
“Why? So you can tell me how much you wish it was anyone but me”
“Y/N” He ran up and stopped in front of you. “I always wanted it to be you!” He yelled out. “I just didn’t wanna lose you,I was scared you’d think I’m weird for wanting it to be my best friend”
“Camilo, you’re still a terrible detective” You both laughed as he pulled you into a hug.
Isabela
The whole town loved Isabela,so when she found the notes she didn’t think much of it. In fact she threw them all away, probably thinking it was from multiple people. It broke your heart but you understood her point of view, she didn’t know who sent them and she probably didn’t like the mystery,or care enough to solve it. You decided to write one final note, more of a letter actually telling her about your feelings. You left it in her room while she was out, later that night you were in your room reading when your mom called you.
“Y/N there’s someone here to see you” You knew immediately who it was,you led her up to your room.
“Why didn’t you say anything? Instead of leaving notes”
“I couldn’t,I tried so many times but it was way easier to just write. Whenever I spoke I just couldn’t find the right words, but about the letter I left you. It’s all true every single word"
"Y/N I love you too,but I didn’t say anything because I was scared that it wasn’t you”
“You wanted it to be me?”
“I got a lot of notes, but they never sounded so genuine as yours. I could feel your emotions while I was reading them” She pulled out a stack of notes, tied together with a purple ribbon.
“You kept them?"
"Of course I did,and I plan on keeping the new ones too”
“New ones?”
“You’re gonna keep writing them, right? You’re not gonna stop just because you’re dating me now”
“You really want to be with me?” She kissed you before you could say anything else. “I’m going to need a lot more paper”
Luisa
You always left little notes for Luisa, telling her to take care of herself and not push herself too far. Sometimes you’d tell her how good she looks, how her eyes seemed to sparkle in the sun. Once in a while you’d leave flowers and she’d wear them in her hair for that day. You were just sitting in the living room writing a couple of new notes, when there was a knock at the door. You quickly got up to answer it since your parents were out. Opening the door, you were face to face with Luisa.
“Hi,” You said,very awkwardly.
“Hey Y/N,I’m just here to drop off the flower pots that your mother asked for” She did tell you about them but you completely forgot.
“Sure, you can just put them in the backyard” Opening the door more, you gesture to the back door. Thankfully there were only three flower pots, she set down the third one as you remember the notes and rushed back in to hide them. When you stepped out again you found Luisa looking at some of the flowers, she had one in her hair that you didn’t notice before. She picked up a new one, comparing it to the one in her hair. Standing up,she turned to face you.
“It’s you, you’re the one leaving the notes” You just nodded and immediately she hugged you. “Thank you” She kissed your cheek before finally letting you down. “I have more chores, but I’ll be waiting for a new note tomorrow” You both laughed.
“Luisa, wait” You grabbed a new flower and walked over to her,she knelt down to let you put the flower in her hair. Putting your hands on her cheeks you pulled her into a kiss.
Mirabel
You always tried to make her feel a bit better with your notes, since she was the only one without a gift. But you focused on the good in that, telling her that people see her for who she really is and not just how they can use her. She constantly said that she’s fine but you could tell that she was lying. The day before Antonio’s gift ceremony you wrote her a letter, trying to comfort her since that night would bring a lot of emotions. You left the letter in her room and she found it almost immediately, you wanted to wait a bit before going up to talk to her.
“Y/N,could you please go get Mirabel. It’s dinner time, you’re free to join us if you want”
“Thank you” You quickly went up to get Mirabel, gently knocking before you opened the door. You saw her sitting on the floor of her room with your letter in her hand as she cried, she didn’t bother to pretend that she wasn’t. You sat down beside her and she immediately moved closer to you, letting you wrap your arms around her. It took some time before she completely calmed down, you kept rubbing her back as she put her head on your shoulder.
“Y/N” You responded with a hmm “thank you for the notes”
“You knew it was me?”
“Nope,but I just found out”
“You sneaky little fox” She laughed “but I really did mean all of it,you’re still special in a different way. Also we should get downstairs it’s time for dinner”

prompt; you and isabela have been rivals the second you two met and have been obsessively hating on each other since
pairing/s; isabela x fem!reader
warning/s; language (like just one word lol)
wordcount; 1.17k
a/n; the amount of times i had to re-write this bc my dumb butt kept accidentally posting this (six times!). anyway, i'll write the second part on my free time. 1k is my limit
You and Isabela have hated each other for as long as you could remember, and no matter how much you two avoided seeing each other, you'd still end up being face to face with Señorita Perfecta—what was left of the perfect girl you once knew at least.
I mean, your houses were facing each other and your bedroom window was directly across from her balcony! Seeing each other was unavoidable at that point.
It was like the stars aligned to make both of your lives miserable.
But you being spiteful of each other wasn't without reason either.
You still remembered, clear as day, being bitter about not winning an art contest for the children in the Encanto just because Isabela could pull flowers out of her ass.
You, of course, being the six year old kid that you were who was quite the sore loser, told Isabela to her face that she was a fake who only won because she was a Madrigal and of course, she didn't take kindly to that and demanded you apologize.
You didn't and instead tore her artwork to pieces. Fists went flying everywhere after that.
Needless to say, you've hated each other since then and have even brought your rivalry to adulthood, fighting over the pettiest of things.
Nothing changed either even after Casita was rebuilt.
“Ugh, look at her,” you said as you looked up from your sketches, a spiteful gaze specially directed at the bright blue figure of Isabela Madrigal who was busy trying to make crops sprout in front of her family's casa.
“You're still playing that game?” Mirabel asked as she lounged next to you in front of your house.
“What game, Mira?” you snapped. There was no game in hating Isabela Madrigal, no matter which form she took.
“Oh, I don't know,” Mirabel gave you an innocent look before her eyes landed on the dress you were supposed to be working on.
And that's right, you were the town's dressmaker, having taken the mantle of your papa's legacy, which was the main reason why Mirabel could be seen hanging around you.
Aside from the fact that both of you used to share mutual hatred for her sister.
Your eyes followed hers and the moment you realized that you've been absentmindedly scribbling the eldest Madrigal with the angriest chicken scratches you've seen in existence, you closed your sketchbook.
At least she didn't see Isabela's name scribbled over and over again on one of the other pages.
“She was in my line of sight, I couldn't focus on anything else!” you reasoned.
“Riiiight, right, so, um, you still hate Isa even if she's changed?” she asked you.
“Of course, I do!”
Isabela might have retired from being a Columbian Barbie but it wasn't like she ever faked hating your guts. What would she gain from that anyway? As far as you were aware, she wanted the village to look at her as if she was Mother Teresa.
“Yeah, but don't you think that maybe you're too...I don't know, invested in her?”
That...you have nothing to counter with.
Everyday, you wake up and the first thing that would pop up in your head was Isabela. You'd spend hours planning out how to make her day worse without actually doing most of them. From dedicating most of your life into hating her, you've noticed small bits and pieces about the perfect daughter that most people would have otherwise overlooked.
You've noticed how her eyes would light up whenever they'd land on the most bizarre objects or how she'd steal an extra serving of cake when she thought nobody else was looking, or that one time when—
You narrowed your eyes at Mirabel.
“Well?” she pressed on.
However, instead of answering her, you stood up with a huff and gathered your belongings before leaving Mirabel to her own devices.
You were not going to admit anything. You hated Isabela Madrigal with every fiber of your being.
So much so that you felt like drowning every time you looked into her eyes.
Isabela watched as you disappeared from her line of sight, yet the bitterness brought by your distant presence still lingered like some sort of evil miasma.
And you hated it.
“You should talk to her,” came the voice of her cousin Dolores.
“There's nothing to talk about,” Isabela scoffed as she went on to proceed with her task.
But instead of vegetables, she sprouted red roses.
An annoyed frown formed on Isabela's face. You totally just jinxed her.
“So we're just going to ignore that you still made a flower statue of Y/N in your room?” Dolores gave her a side glance as she bent down to pick up a vibrant red rose.
“It's only there because insulting her always makes me feel better,” Isabela defended, earning herself a raised brow from her cousin.
Okay, that was a half-truth. It wasn't only just one and she made them because Isabela hated you so much that you were practically living rent-free inside her head 24/7 that she just had to make several floral statues of you out of frustration, all with different facial expressions. Again.
The last batch have been destroyed along with the old casa.
Every morning since then, you were the first thing she'd see and the first words she'd say were of course nothing but insults hurled at you and your stupid, beautiful face.
You were also the last thing she'd see before she'd close her eyes, and you'd be there in her dreams, haunting every single one of them.
She thought about getting rid of your statues, and she did at one point but that only ended up making her even more agitated for whatever reason.
“Don't you think it's time that you two finally mend your relationship?” Dolores said. “It's been fifteen years.”
“There’s nothing to mend, Dolores,” Isabela scoffed, removing the roses from her vegetable patch, hissing when a thorn pricked her finger.
Her cousin sighed in exasperation behind her, feeling Dolores’s judging gaze burning holes through the back of her skull as she placed the rose she picked behind Isabela’s ear. “Just admit it.”
Isabela’s eyes landed briefly on her sister who suddenly stood up on her seat to follow you inside your house.
“Admit what?” she knew what her cousin wanted to say, knew that Dolores knew she was playing dumb, but the mere thought of it had her…feeling things that absolutely disgusted her.
Or at least that was what she wanted to convince herself.
“That you’re in love with Y/–”
But before she could complete her sentence, a flurry of colorful flowers went flying Dolores’s way although Isabela spared her from accidentally swallowing a stray petal, unlike with Camilo.
“Isabela–”
“No, I’m not going to admit anything and you weren’t just going to say what you were going to say!” Isabela said, dumping a pile of roses on her feet before stomping away.
She hated you. That was the only thing she had been sure of before and after her phase of perfection.
She hated how you can only smile around other people, hated how she could only hear your laughter from afar, hated how she could never be the reason for both—and that scared her.
So no, Isabela Madrigal will never admit that she was in love. With you, of all people.
"boohoo our s*xyman is voiced by the Iceage sloth"— well I for one appreciate all the hard work John Leguizamo put into single handedly wrestling Lin Manuel Miranda out of that recording booth to prevent him from voicing Bruno.
In all the posts and fics I’ve seen which include Julieta’s gift, they all seem to have the same basic interpretation: That the food Julieta cooks has magical healing properties. However, based on the way her gift is presented in the movie, I don’t think that’s quite right.
Let’s start with her first scene in the movie.
Julieta is the one distributing the food. Not only that, but she’s the only one distributing the food. There’s a whole table of food anyone could easily nab a bite from, a whole line of people with what appear to be some rather painful injuries, and yet they all wait to receive their healing directly from Julieta.
See, if the power of Julieta’s healing came through the act of cooking, would it not make more sense for her to be, y’know, cooking. Any can hand out arepas, or even just watch the table to make sure that no one takes more than they need. Mirabel could be doing that and feeling far more useful. But instead it’s Julieta.
Next scene.
Of the three, arguably 4 people in this scene who could have gotten that bite into Agustín’s mouth, look who does it. Mirabel doesn’t try to get something for her dad, she tells her mom. Casita doesn’t try to help him either. Even Agustín himself doesn’t take the initiative to try to get himself something. Again, you would think that if it only mattered that Julieta cooked the food, she would just leave a plate somewhere for her accident prone husband (or anyone else in the family for that matter) to grab something as they needed it. But again, Julieta has to be the one to give him the food.
And finally, Mirabel’s hand, 3 screenshots this time to really showcase my point (and because I don’t know how to make a gif).
Look at Casita being helpful and sliding a fresh arepa over to
Julieta?
And then Mirabel begrudgingly holding out her other hand waiting for her Mamá to put the arepa in it. Once again, the focus is not in cooking the food (though we do see her cooking the arepas moments before), in the moment of healing the focus is on Julieta giving the food to Mirabel.
All in all this leads me to surmise that the power of Julieta’s gift comes through, not in the cooking, but in the giving. Although we do see her cook the arepa that heals Mirabel’s hand, it is still possible that who cooks the food is entirely irrelevant, and it is the giving that matters. Perhaps even specifically, the giving with intent to heal an injury. After all, back to that first scene
Julieta is not just blindly shoving food into people’s mouths. They are specifically coming up, showing her their ailment, and then she gives them food. It is entirely possible that Julieta needs to know what she is trying to heal so she can push that intent into the food as she gives it away.
And as one final note, because I am incapable of thinking about Encanto without considering Bruno and potential angst: This interpretation would mean that throughout his 10 year stint in the walls, Bruno would have been entirely without Julieta’s healing. He would have had to suffer through any sickness, any injury, and the effects of malnutrition without his hermana’s magical help; and perhaps without any kind of medicine at all, or at the least very minimal medicine. Perhaps some basic herbal remedies of he knows them and can get the ingredients, but he’s not exactly able to go down to the corner drug store for cough syrup or pain killers should he develop a cold or injury himself in his acrobatic acts through the walls.
