I think I'm going to remember this phrase every time I cook for the next five years
sad reality of the fanfic-to-published work economy is that the weirdest people are willing to do it. that's why there's now hundreds of shitty no plot cishet hate-to-love enemies-to-lovers books that are ex reylo fanfic. and it's not even good. that's because the people who wrote book-quality steve/bucky and kirk/spock fic are too normal to think to themselves "i should get this porn published". they're too busy working in local government offices

this is one of my favorite videos on the internet, and it kills me that the source has been silenced by youtube’s copyright system, so I’m putting it here!
I have seen a version of this on tumblr before, but the audio in that one is just a little bit off because that person edited it back in themselves
but today, I am proud to present the original video, sent to me by Crispy Crungy, who gave me permission to upload it here and share it with you all!
enjoy!
I love this description. It reads like a dedication speech for an art museum. Like we’re all witnesses to this video being interred in the Met. Preserving these things is important, and they really captured that.
LARRY She was worried that there would be errors, or mistakes or something… that you’d judge her writing abilities. LADY BIRD I wouldn’t do that. LARRY I thought you should have them. LARRY I want you to know how much she loves you but also don’t tell her I salvaged them, okay? LADY BIRD Ok... She touches all these letters her mother couldn’t send. And she can never tell her that she has them.

Ornithologist Jerry McGahan is pictured with a 6 month old Andean Condor, the largest flying bird on earth. Photographed by the Helen and Franck Schreider. Another version of this photo made it to the cover of National Geographic.
[Additional description: The condor is landing on McGahan’s glove as he leans back for balance. The bird is massive; their body is maybe three times the size of a person’s head, and their wings are outstretched, showing that their length and McGahan’s height are about the same.]
What’s it going to do, really?

“I think women like to read about murderous mothers and lost little girls because it’s our only mainstream outlet to even begin discussing female violence on a personal level. Female violence is a specific brand of ferocity. It’s invasive. A girlfight is all teeth and hair, spit and nails — a much more fearsome thing to watch than two dudes clobbering each other. And the mental violence is positively gory. Women entwine. Some of the most disturbing, sick relationships I’ve witnessed are between long-time friends, and especially mothers and daughters. Innuendo, backspin, false encouragement, punishing withdrawal, sexual jealousy, garden-variety jealousy — watching women go to work on each other is a horrific bit of pageantry that can stretch on for years. Libraries are filled with stories on generations of brutal men, trapped in a cycle of aggression. I wanted to write about the violence of women. […] I particularly mourn the lack of female villains — good, potent female villains…I’m talking violent, wicked women. Scary women. Don’t tell me you don’t know some. The point is, women have spent so many years girl-powering ourselves — to the point of almost parodic encouragement — we’ve left no room to acknowledge our dark side. Dark sides are important. They should be nurtured like nasty black orchids.”
— Gillian Flynn, “I Was Not a Nice Little Girl”
