couple things about this: i like the idea of something that is such a trademark of male dathomirians not even being due to their choice. they are not privy to the ritual that leaves their brothers this way. maybe it is so rare for them to receive a son without the tattoos that most of them don’t even know they’re not born with them.

trying to find a less sexist/more sexist in the opposite direction way to develop this tho bc as is we’re perpetuating the “the kid’s gender is the woman’s fault” thing again and i mean that is an interesting thing to play with in a matriarchal society but i 100% believe the nightsisters could figure out how to curse the men without blaming it on themselves.

maybe it’s to manifest only girl sperm in the kid so when he grows up and he’ll only produce female kids or something lol. obviously any way this goes this requires it not being a 100% effective anti-man method because unless the nightsisters can figure out f/f fertilization they’d be driving themselves to extinction. the force knows this so it doesn’t let them just do that completely reliably.

also consider a trans woman in this scenario. like you literally have the “disgusting man” mark and looking at these beautiful ephemeral non-tattooed (or rather tattooed in the dathomirian feminine way) women and you just have to live with having such a huge dysphoria source just on display. forever. and you have no way to change it because they don’t teach you the magicks and what little force ability you have cannot undo it. that being said are the nightsisters transphobic? how do they feel about trans men? i feel like in such a heavily gender-segregated society there would be all sorts of stigma going either way.
