When me, AA, and alluringCatastrophe were making the CDs for Broadwaystuck’s table the day before All The Things You Can Dream, we were listening to old Broadway Karkat tracks and being nostalgic. And this one came on and me and AA lost our minds. We started riffing about what would this song look like in the lords year 2026 now that the comic is over, Beyond Canon/the Epilogues exist, the fandom’s changed a lot in the almost 15 years since Broadway Karkat’s parody was originally released (yeah. 2012 was 14 years ago. Psychic damage!), and also… what if the parts that talk about about running Broadwaystuck was about stuff we do at Broadwaystuck Remixed? What if the style was the exact same where it’s a little rough around the edges but total full throttle sincerity like how everything was back in the day?

He was like “You HAVE to do this and post it when I leave the project at the end of the month.” It’s giving…. when the HR meeting is getting too lit. It makes us laugh, which is the only thing that matters!!! Homestuck song parodies are a fandom tradition, you know.

hey guys, i wanted to break character for a second to talk about what an incredible journey these past four years have been. i'm gonna give y'all a little glimpse into my background w/ homestuck singing: i had my mom buy me a $30 usb karaoke microphone from walmart when i was 14 so that i could record an audition for broadwaystuck way back in 2012. auditions weren't even open back then! i sent the email anyway, never heard anything back, but i decided then that if i had that microphone, i was gonna do something with it. i started punkstuck, a singing group in 2013, met some amazing people (one of which i'm dating today!), and decided that singing in the homestuck community was something i wanted to do for a long time. singing in general always brought me so much joy and i loved meeting people. it was such a great community, a balance of both worlds, i couldn't get enough. in 2014 i joined homestrukk as a writer. i faced a lot of rejection whenever i'd audition for groups back then, but i was having fun! i didn't let it stop me. in 2015, i started experimenting with harmonies, bought a better microphone with birthday money, and delved further into voice acting. in 2016, the comic ended, and with it, a lot of the community died as well. i also graduated that year, and had to shift myself into the real world one way or another since i wasn't going to college-- got a part-time job that quickly turned full time, and kind of lost my spark for recording, especially with the death of the comic. i would lay low for years thinking the homestuck voice acting/singing years were behind me. between 2017 and 2021, i was actually at my lowest mentally, and it took most of the latter half of 2021 and most of 2022 to claw my way out.

in late 2022, i got a message from an old friend of mine from homestrukk. he asked me to help him revive broadwaystuck-- a name i hadn't heard in Years, but i agreed. he brought me on as a head admin so he had someone to help him judge auditions.

a LOT of shit happened. it started with sahcon panels and group songs, then quickly evolved into merch drops to help fundraise for our live performances. people came and went. i clung to the project like it was my baby. it was my baby! seeing the revival of the homestuck music scene wasn't something i thought i'd ever see. that alone brought me so much joy-- imagine the pure GLEE i felt when i received news that we were invited to promstuck 2025? and the ELATION when the announcement hit that i (ME??) was selected as one of the performers? me, the guy who got rejected at least 50 times in high school for singing groups? the guy who didn't even make an ensemble part the one time he auditioned for a school musical? still reeling from this. literally one of the biggest highlights of my life and also i now get to directly credit homestuck as the source of my first ever live performance which is both awesome AND hilarious.

everything was happening bigger than i ever could have imagined it. i travelled across the country by myself to meet the mods i had grown incredibly close to. we had so much fun that weekend, but it begged the question: what's next?

well, what's next would be a beautiful jane audition that would bring us our NEXT live performance opportunity in 2026. again, i would get to meet a couple of my best friends in person and watch one of the most (if not the Single most) positive crowds i've ever seen dance and chant along to broadwaystuck and all of the other wonderful performers at pan ranger's 'all the things you can dream' 5 year anniversary event.

i didn't think about it until now, but what a fitting name for that show. it encompasses everything i'm saying now: all the things you can dream will lead you to joy if you let them.

saying yes to that dm in 2022 literally changed my life. i picked up a guitar and started to write music, started performing regularly (karaoke bars, sure, but it still counts!), but above anything, i found my spark again.

okay, emerie, if everything is so awesome, why part ways with the project? you love it so much!

yeah, i do, that's true, but you know what they say about loving something and letting it go. i think this chapter of my life is over now. i've received amazing opportunities and forged so many amazing connections through running this project, but to be honest with y'all, i just don't have the time and the emotional bandwidth anymore. it's time to pass the torch to someone with drive, with passion, with incredible ideas and plans and experience running big groups (yeah, ALL of this was new to me 0_0).

this is a new chapter for both of us; me and the project as a whole, and i want everyone reading this (if you still are, jesus christ, i wrote a fucking novel, hii! ty for sticking around!) to get excited! get involved! buy a shitty walmart microphone and start recording, pick up a pencil or a pen to write a silly parody for a character you like, draw some fanart-- anything you want to do to be creative in a community. that's what all of this is about-- community.
