I often have bright and saturated colors in my work, but once in a while I like to tone it down. This piece is a custom commission I did for a collector from my "Open Wounds" collection. Studying art history, I was a big fan of calligraphy and scroll painting. As someone who typically likes control, I find something very beautiful about being able to let go and capture a story with minimal brushstrokes. It's more challenging than many might think.
Join me for "The Business Of Art Symposium" at Sparks Gallery in San Diego on June 13th. I'll be speaking at 5pm on how to build a sustainable dream with your passion, sharing both the successes and failures I have seen thus far on my journey. I always give it straight.
For those that can't make it, as well as those that can, this month will also kick off my Mastrius small group mentoring for artists. It's completely remote, meets once a month, and will open up a number of other resources for you so you can reach your goals for your art business.
You can learn more about both on my site π§βπ¨
"Patrichorus" is the very last painting available from a 49 piece mega project I did called "Reign Upon Sonrise." The project took 5 years to complete, and was released in the Spring at the age of 33. The project was a meditative reflection and spiritual installation with infinite configurations and possibilities for presentation. The "Reignbough" surrounded the most deeply personal piece I have ever created, "Michael's Note," which I shared yesterday. "Michael's Note," a painfully vulnerable stream of consciousness, was the note my father never left, and at the same time, my goodbye letter to the world π
For those that would like to read "Michael's Note" or see some of the installation views of "Reign Upon Sonrise," you can find it on my blog π
I have always put pieces of my soul into my art, but I can't imagine ever putting more into a piece than this. Mental health plays a key role in my art and my life. I lost my father to his struggles with it and I almost lost myself to the same struggles several times. In fact, I probably did lose a few pieces of myself along the way. The interesting thing is, I didn't know about my father's struggles until I was reconnected with that side of my biological family at the age of 28. When I learned of our shared path, that's when I decided mine needed to deviate. That's when I created "Michael's Note." My father an I shared a name, but will not share the same fate. This is the note he never left...and also my own note at the same time.
You can find the close up and full transcript of this note on my blog. You can find it under "Michael's Note" or "Reign Upon Sonrise."

Art can truly save lives π
A little experimental abstraction in preparation for a new series I will debut this upcoming week. I call this one "Inside The Outside (Breakthrough Of the Broken)." I have a ton of art you can take home today...and I'm in a generous mood β€οΈ
I am going to be a guest speaker for "The Business Of Being An Artist" symposium at Sparks Gallery on June 13-14. I will be speaking on Saturday, June 13th, at 5pm. Join me for "From Studio to Sustainability: Sales, Engagement, and Growth."
I'll be diving into:
β How to turn your studio practice into sales and growth
β How to build a career that supports your work across multiple exhibitions and markets
β How business techniques work both offline and online for working artists
You can learn more on my site, and I also have a brand new small mentoring group kicking off this month with Mastrius. It's time to take your art to the next level!
A little fluid abstraction from my "Open Wounds" collection. Sometimes you need to tear yourself open and expose your wounds so they can breathe and heal πβ€οΈ

This is a smaller acrylic painting from many years ago. I have always loved architecture, and I often play with it in my work. I have some great geometric works you can take home and put on your walls today. I also have a brand new collection coming your way very soon.
"When You Lose Your Hope, Let Me Give You Mine." This acrylic on canvas painting is 36in x 36in. I have a ton of art spanning decades of creation and multiple bodies of work. If you're looking to take something home, I'm happy to help.
Some stories may be ugly, but that ugliness can have its own beauty π
Here's a little flashback to a painting from around 2009. This is "Transition." At the moment, I am transitioning to a new body of work that goes back to some of my geometric roots with a new twist. The first painting from my new series will be debuting soon.
Iβm starting to do some small group mentoring for artists trying to learn about the business of art. My upcoming mentorship group with Mastrius is built around you, your questions, your work, and your goals.
My initial mentor group will meet once a month, and it will focus on:
βͺ How to find yourself as an artist
βͺ How you can pragmatically take your passion as far as you would like
βͺ How you may be holding yourself back
βͺ How to find the unique path that will work for you
βͺ The business side of art that others donβt speak about
This is more than just a once month meeting. You will also received access to some incredible resources and opportunities for artists. I welcome you to join me on this journey so we can grow together π§βπ¨β€οΈ
