surely treating suicide as the most horrible forbidden thing possible and making it difficult to discuss candidly not only through social stigma but also the threat of kidnapping and forced drugging will prevent people from doing something that makes me personally uncomfortable

It's not overly dramatic they literally WILL shackle you and throw you in an armored car to take you to a hospital where you're not allowed to leave and if they feel you're misbehaving they WILL pin you down and forcibly inject sedatives. If you're labeled high risk you get no privacy to the point that you're not allowed to close the door when you shower or use the bathroom and someone literally waits outside WATCHING you. And if for some reason none of that makes you feel better they will keep you indefinitely until they decide you're safe to leave all while charging you $2k A DAY. It is genuinely kidnapping and forced drugging. Don't pretend like institutionalizing isn't completely barbaric and traumatizing
