absolutely cutting all my negative self talk for 2022
A Facebook post by Carmen Mojica that reads: āI cannot underscore enough how important it is to have people in your life who are delighted by you. Yes, delighted. It actually is foundational to the self esteem of a child to have their adults be delighted by their existence. You are worthy of having your full essence enjoyed. I donāt mean just sexually. Surround yourself with people who enjoy you. Who find pleasure in being around you and witnessing you. None of that lukewarm āthey cool peoplesā shit. Be around people who fuck with you heavily and joyfully.ā End ID]

types of healthy coping skills
1. self-soothing
comforting yourself through the 5 senses
Touch: stuffed animals, stress balls, taking a bath, a soft blanket
Hear: music, audio book, guided relaxation
See: snow globe, glitter, calming images, art, anything that pleases you visuallyĀ
Taste: tea, mints, gum
Smell: lotion, candles, incenseĀ
2. distraction
removing your focus from the stressor for a period of time
puzzles, art, crafting, reading, movies, gaming, exercise, being social
3. opposite action
doing the opposite of the impulse that aligns with a positive emotion
affirmations, inspiration, lighthearted and encouraging focus
4. emotional awareness
identifying and constructively expressing what youāre feeling
journaling, listing emotions, using a emotional identification chart, drawing, therapy
5. mindfulness
centering and anchoring yourself to the present moment
meditation, guided relaxation, yoga, breathing exercises, candle gazing, going for a walk
6. ask for help
this is important to do when you feel like your coping skills are not enough or they are too negative and detrimental Ā
therapy is ideal for helping a person create a healthy coping strategy and incorporate it into their lifeĀ
*a coping skill is considered healthy if it helps you to deal with stress more positively, does not hinder your progress, and isnāt harmful physically or mentally. A coping skill can become negative when it is used to completely avoid dealing with the stressor.Ā
this is important
ok this is important to me. gaslighting is not a synonym for lying. itās a type of lying. if someone says to you āthe sky is green,ā thatās a lie. if you say āthe sky is blueā and they respond āno, itās green, youāre wrong, your eyes are playing tricks on youā THATāS gaslighting. the crucial requirement is that they try to convince you not only that you are wrong but that you shouldnāt trust your own senses. that youāre imagining something/hallucinating/dreaming. the abuser is trying to make themselves more of an authority on reality than your own mind, often with the goal of making you reliant on them to tell you ātruthā from āfiction.ā
i hate feeling like im forcing someone to talk to me. makes. me. sick.

stop fucking using the word psychotic to describe bad behaviour and violence already god fucking damn it
oh my god i'm so tired psychotic does not mean violent it does not mean angry or erratic. it refers to a person suffering from psychosis, a loss of touch with reality that includes hallucinations and/or delusions. psychotic people are not inherently violent and y'all need to understand how much stigma you create when you again and again incorrectly use the word psychotic without even thinking about it
would appreciate if non-psychotic people could reblog this
friends that understand your anti-social phases and donāt take it personally are important.
