“Since I was young, I have always known this: Life damages us, every one. We can’t escape that damage. But now, I am also learning this: We can be mended. We mend each other.”
— Veronica Roth
it's really interesting that some people live in a world where "therapy" isn't a whole host of various treatments with either positive or negative outcomes and which often doesn't work or requires significant outside support to make any meaningful difference, but instead a sort of magical amulet against being mentally ill that works automatically just by going there
it's strange that there's talk about disabled people as if we are either diagnosed or undiagnosed when both groups and indeed all disabled people are on the whole underdiagnosed. like yay you spent 6+ years fighting for an answer. they gave you one that doesn't cover even half the problems you have, was poorly explained to you (if they explained it at all) and with no followup treatment. you're close to right where you started but now there's a little word on your medical files that you can bring out to fail at getting people to take you seriously or other people can bring out to dismiss and mock you.
there's that one friend who is always going through relentless bullshit but man when you're the disabled friend it's you. the relentless bullshit is onto you

we can't even be like "let's stop pandering to ableds and just start killing" because that's a luxury most disabled people can't afford when their access to basic care is entirely dependent on how nice or likable or grateful they seem
trans survivors of sexual assault by trans perpetrators are not “hurting the community” by talking about it and they are not a threat to you by surviving

“psych ward patients aren’t prisoners! don’t let them treat you like one!!”
quick, define incarceration for me
If I wasn’t a prisoner, why did I have to beg a judge for my freedom? why was the judge able to deny me that freedom?
if I can’t leave it by order of a judge isn’t it definitionally a prison? a medicalized prison but still a prison nonetheless
(voice of a person spiralling) its embarrassing but i still havent figured out if its ok for me to be alive
does anyone like me and want to understand me
if you can't handle me at my worst then stop dragging me there fucker
I have a headache because I'm a bad person
