Boys in Space, We're Space Boys

It is totally within Maul's character to set Daki up to die, but I wish they didn't frame it that way, because he didn't actually have much of a choice. He pretty quickly clocked Vader's identity and was very earnest in telling Daki that Vader would know exactly how to defeat a Jedi, just as earnest as he was in warning Ahsoka about Anakin (Maul kinda has a self-induced Cassandra thing going for him). Maul was injured, knew Vader was stronger, and Devon was in grave danger, so leaving the Vader fight in order to assist Devon was just practical. Did Daki dying at the hands of Vader work out for Maul? Sure. However, continuing to fight Vader would have been futile, and lead to all three of their deaths.

Maul isn't exactly a "morally gray" character, but he also isn't pure evil for evil's sake. I wish we had seen a slight nod of sympathy from him, returning the sympathy Devon gave him after losing his crew members.

This doesn't really change the plot at all, it's just what I personally would have liked to see. Maybe I've just had too much late night espresso and I'll wake up to a bunch of people disagreeing with me.
