First Week As LP
The things Iāve learned. Too fucking extensive guys. LP is a whole new WORLD.
Let me share with you some of the more lesser known things since taking this job.
1.) Companies ARE aware of the lifting side of the internet, they DO read our posts for clues.
2.) Lifters are usually on their game when they think they can identify LP. Those posts about like āyou know itās LP when ______such and such happens_____ā theyāre DEADON
3.) Know at TĆ¢rget, cameras are always watched by one or two people and they communicate with at least one or two plainclothes by texting.
4.) SO, if you notice someone near you twice in a store and they are texting and not really shoppingā¦.BIG CLUE.
5.) LP make bets on how many lifters they can catch. It is a boring job, we mostly watch the cameras and find honest people.
6.) Catching a lifter gives us an adrenaline rush. Itās a cat and mouse game. Making yourself obvious only fuels us to hunt down others.
7.) Acting SUS will get our attention immediately. Distraction may work to divert our attention.
8.) BIGGEST RED FLAGS:
ā> Drag queens, transvestites, people who seem like they are in wonky clothes or dressed beyond their gender. If you look weird, we will watch you whether or not we think youāre lifting. Itās simple human curiosity and entertainment.
ā> Minorities. Especially minorities in large groups.
ā> Large groups of pre teen girls
ā> Anyone with a big bag
ā> People with baby bags and strollers
ā> People who wear beanies, hoods, hats, or other accessories making their face hard to see.
ā> People who avoid sale sections
9.) Internal theft is investigated a lot more than shoplifters sometimes.
10.) Itās a lot harder for us to see you conceal when youāre walking in a straight line and using your hands discreetly. Walking will make us have to zoom and adjust to your movements, itās a pain in the ass.
11.) We have to follow protocol to make a lawful stop. If we donāt see you conceal, but pick up on the other 3 warning signs, we canāt do shit.
*again copied from a thread*
OLD SCHOOL RULES OF CONDUCT
A ⦠IF YOU CANT DO THE TIME - DONāT DO THE CRIME. There are a lot of risk when you shoplift and unfortunately getting caught is the end result of a poorly executed shoplifting attempt. Even if you donāt go to jail, and you probably will not on your 1st offence, you will still end up with a considerable fine. You may be able to have your first charge expunged with some luck, but your actual arrest will remain on your record and may easily be found on any background search. It will be hard to try and explain in your job or college interview why you were stealing. B ⦠KNOW BEFORE YOU GO Always plan ahead of time and know your store. It is a good idea to check out the store before you ever take anything. Look for cameras, security, find where desirable targets are located, locate where all the exits are, and where employees go into back rooms. Locate where the best blind spots are, and when theyāre busiest - for most shops this will be Saturdays. Donāt ever assume that a camera dome is empty, always assume that every dome has a camera in it and that itās watching you. Once you have a good idea of the layout of the store and the layout of the merchandise, leave. Come back another day to do your lifting. Proper planning will help you avoid being at risk for being apprehended. C ⦠BODY LANGUAGE. From the time you enter the parking lot, to the time you leave, you should act as if someone is watching your every move (because they probably are). The biggest mistake a shoplifter can make is to act like a shoplifter. Nervousness, constantly looking around, looking at security cameras and suspicious behave are what the Store Security (Loss Prevention) are looking for. This is what they were trained for and you will make their job much easer. Employees know that if you are acting nervous, then you are usually up to something no good. You want to remain calm and look as normal as possible. Shoplifters get caught because they get sloppy, and donāt pay attention. Keep in mind what you are doing and focus on the task at hand and maintain your appearance, both physical and mental. You should have already done your research and studied the layout of the store beforehand. You want to look like an everyday shopper who has no worries in the world. D ⦠DRESS FOR THE JOB. Loss Prevention are trained to watch everyone, regardless of race or age. If you walk into a store wearing the latest baggie hip hop cloths, a jacket when its warm out, or leave your sunglasses on to hide your eyes, then yes you will be watched. You want to blend in. Notice what the average shopper is wearing and dress like them. Being professional, well dress, groomed, speaking clear understandable English, with a friendly outgoing attitude is the best illusion you could give. The object here is not to draw any attention to yourself. You want Loss Prevention to be watching the other guy. Every store and every area will be different. A āhigh endā department store will have better dressed shoppers then a discount or home improvement store. No matter what, always wear clean cloths, bath, comb your hair, and have a clean respectable look. E ⦠DO NOT TRUST ANYONE YOU DONāT KNOW. You should never trust another person while you are shoplifting. The majority of Loss Prevention Associates will be dressed in street cloths and will try and blend in with the everyday shoppers. Donāt be fooled by the person who is shopping next to you or is in the dressing room next to you. He might look like a teen age punk, but in reality he is an under cover Loss Prevention Associate watching your every move. Also just because she looks like a sweet old lady doesnāt mean that she wont alert the staff to your wrong doings. Do not stereo type Loss Prevention personnel. They could be either male or female and any age. Some will even work in teams as a couple just to blend in. F ⦠NEVER LOOK AT CAMERAS One of the biggest ways to get caught is to look directly at the cameras. You would be surprised how many nervous amateurs will glance repeatedly, or just boldly stare at the camera dome, giving security a clear view of what you are doing and the perfect chance to capture a picture of your face. Trust me - you cannot see through the domes to tell if itās pointed at you. They are double-layered to prevent this. Observe cameras from afar, use your peripherals vision, and never tilt your head or eyes up. An upturned face is very easy to see, and will instantly attract attention. G ⦠AVOID ROUTINES Keep track of how often you visit stores and shoplift. Avoid routine. Cashers, stock boys, and even Security will forget about you and your actions for a little while, but if they suspect you of causing merchandises to walk out of the store, they will notice patterns in your routines. Make sure you have a feel of the security, and have an understanding as to how many times it is safe to remove items from any one store in a period of time. The busier the store, the more times you can go into it without raising suspicion. Keep in mind that major retailers have installed computer systems that share records, and CCTV footage between stores specifically to keep tabs on repeat shoplifters. If you were noticed doing something suspicious in one store they may send a picture of you to any of the surrounding stores so that they can keep an eye on you. H ⦠IF IT DONāT FEEL RIGHT - ABORT! Stop what your doing, drop what you have and leave - come back another time. If it donāt look or feel right always go with your instincts, they could be right. It doesnāt matter how insignificant it is, it is better to leave behind your goods and come back another day, then to slip in some way and be apprehended. I ⦠HOME COURT DISADVANTAGEĀ Never do a lot of your shoplifting at a store you frequently shop at. If you really want something bad enough, then spend a little gas money and go across town. The reason you want to do this is because if, for some reason you slip up and get busted, you will not be able to go back into that store again. You will then have to travel across town to do any legitimate shopping. Imagine your embarrassment if your neighbors just happen to be there as they haul you out of the store in handcuffs. Also the employees will recognize you quicker if they are use to seeing your face. J ⦠NEVER STEAL FROM A MOM & POP STORE. This goes to the belief of sticking it to āThe Manā. You will find this written many times throughout the anti-establishment community. Whether it be the government or the large multi national mega store, hurting them is more enjoyable and less personal then the small shop owner down the street who is more then likely already having a hard time making money because of these mega stores. These stores are smaller and have fewer employees who may recognize you as a returning thief. There have been many instances where a shop owner has attacked a shoplifter with a bat or some other instrument of pain because they take the theft more personal. If caught the judicial system will also be a lot harder on individuals who committed personal crimes against small shop owners as appose to large companies and your jail time could be lengthier. K ⦠DO NOT GET GREEDY.Ā The number one reason shoplifters get caught is because they become greedy. You can shoplift your whole life and never get caught, but it takes a lot of skill and even more importantly, patience. Most people will get away with something and instead of being satisfied with that one time they have to press their luck and try it again and again in the same store. Eventually you develop a pattern that the Loss Prevention or Police can easy discover and then apprehend you. L ⦠GO DOWN WITH RESPECT. You walked out of the store and you hear that dreaded āSecurity - may I speak with youā behind you. You take off running as fast as you could, but on this day the Loss Prevention just happened to be a marathon sprinter, and he tackles you. At this point realize that they have won and you have lost - deal with it! Fighting back or using a weapon will only guaranty you a long visit to prison. A simple shoplifting charge means just that - simple. Most cases you will be free in a couple of hours. Be as polite and remorseful as you can be under the circumstances. The Loss Prevention person is only doing a job. The more you are a Dick - the bigger Dick they can be. Sure it sucks but just play it out cool & calm and it will work out for the better. M ⦠SILENCE IS GOLDEN. If you are caught, donāt give them any more evidence then they already have. The best evidence they will have against you is your big mouth. NEVER give any more info then you have too. Answer the basic questions. Loss prevention will tell you that if you talk it will be easier on you and you will receive fewer charges - not true. They already have enough evidence against you or you wouldnāt be there. All they want is a confession so they have a stronger case against you. Do not admit to anything, just sit there and remain quiet. You will not gain anything by incriminating yourself or your friends. Remember this is a game of opportunity and luck as much as it is skill. All it takes is one slip too ruin a perfectly good day. Always think, plan, then think again before you do any shoplifting. If you spend a little time doing research, you might not end up doing any time in jail.
THIS IS IMPORTANT. Like, seriously, if youāre only going to read one thing on lifting, read this.

Tips that could keep you from getting caught
Just a few pieces of advice about being aware of your surroundings
- When you enter a store, is there a person standing at the entrance? Is it a greeter, LP or just some random person who happens to stand there? If thereās someone, I personally always remember their face for when I exit the store, and I always try to exit when theyāre walking or looking away for a bit.
- When youāre browsing, is someone watching you? Not just people in uniform, is anyone watching you, or seemingly following you around? Could be nothing, could be plain-clothed LP.
- Trust your gut. If you feel like youāre being watched, you probably are. If youāre in a store where you lift frequently and you feel like youāre being watched, ditch it. SAs arenāt stupid, theyāll remember someone who comes in all the time but never buys anything.
- When youāre done and on your way towards the exit, take a moment to see, VERY DISCRETELY, if someone is following you. DO NOT keep looking behind you, that is super sus. Just maybe stop by a shelf near the exit and act likeĀ āoh I hadnāt seen this shirt here, better take a quick look before I leaveā, or glance in a mirror, pretend to check your hair, if there are any. Donāt linger, just take a moment to see if someoneās following you or pointing at you.
- If there was no one standing at the entrance when you came in, but thereās someone standing there now, I would ditch it. Especially if youāre in a store you lift from a lot. Since LP are not allowed to stop you inside the store (you could still be on your way to pay) and often not allowed to stop you too far outside the store, theyāll try to stop you in the doorway just as youāre leaving. If this person is staring at you, donāt even try, they know.Ā
Hopefully this was a bit useful. Happy lifting ^^
that last tip ESPECIALLY saw that at an ulta me and my lift partner would frequent and that plus csing, we dropped our shit immediately
THE LAST TIP SERIOUSLY. I got caught at the Dollar Store of all places bc I didnāt trust my gut and the bitch SA was waiting at the doors. Also at the grocery store they were hella sus of me and my sister and were waiting, that time I listened and we dropped our stuff.
Get a purse like this, with the fabric around the inside of it, and cut a hole into the side of the purse. It creates like a secret hole in your purse to carry so much shit! If anyone sus you, you can just open your purse and empty your pockets and theyāll see nothing at all! Works better for smaller items like foundations and concealers. Using this purse in s e p h o r a today.
Thanks for this b! Iām def going to be using this
i donāt think anyoneās done a video like this before but!! this is a good method!! basically you take a jacket that either already had a layer inside or you put a hoodie inside of a jacket and rubber-band an arm on the inside layer shut and then use that arm to conceal!! I CONCEALED VERY OBVIOUSLY IN THIS TO DEMONSTRATE HOW YOUD DO IT!! the more things you put in the more full it could look/more noise it will make so move carefully!! if you want to conceal something larger (a soda can, etc.) put it in first so it slides in noiselessly. i got the idea from someone but i forgot who, iāll tag them though!!
She really concealed that whole ass monster can
Canāt wait to use this method with my new denim jacket thatās perfect for it šš I actually think I like this more than my most used method (scarf/purse method)
what are ur tips on lifting? i want to start but have no idea how lmao
for beginners i suggest:
⢠learn all you can before you lift! scroll through liftblr, research certain stores on difficulty level, ask questions! i read about lifting for about a year or more before trying it at all, though i suppose you wonāt want to wait that longš
⢠when you do start, start small! pick the easiest store you can possibly choose and keep your hauls initially small too. work your way up in difficulty slowly, both in stores, items, and haul sizes
⢠scope out all stores before you lift from them - this means looking them up on liftblr and reading tips, and going to the store itself without lifting to memorise blind spots, how the SAd interact with people, fitting room policies, which items are tagged and how, etc.
⢠learn all the methods you can. you donāt necessarily need to use all of them, and some wonāt be your cup of tea. i personally donāt like the cup method! but itās useful to learn about them just in case one turns out to be a favourite, or can be useful in getting you out of a bind. learning sleight of hand is a by-product of this, which is also very useful and important
⢠i know it can be tempting, but never get greedy! if you start taking things for sake of it rather than legitimately wanting/needing it, if you take so many things your bag begins to bulge in THE most sus way, if you find yourself getting careless or cocky, then you need to wrap that haul up and leave the store immediately. getting greedy is a sure fire way of getting caught
⢠if youāre sussed, leave two weeks to a month before returning to the store at the very least. by sussed i mean being followed around by an SA, or being customer-services heavily. anything more than that - someone stopping you at the door, asking to see your bag - give it two months or more
⢠try to walk out of a store alongside other customers. this is so that if you beep you can sow confusion over who set off the security towers. if you are to beep, i suggest not stopping for anyone who might search your bags or person to find lifted items - thatās as good as giving yourself up as a thief. instead, glance back in a vague way but donāt break stride, like youāre a busy customer who hasnāt the time for something as insignificant as a door alarm
okay, thatās all i have rn! if you want more beginner tips, my tag for newbie lifters is #b šā¤ļø
So Iāve noticed basically all of the old lifting masterposts have broken links, so I wanted to make a newer, updated one :)
PLEASE if you go to view a link and it ends up being broken, donāt be afraid to message me and let me know. All posts creds go to post creators/source. Some sections are kind of dry, but Iāll be updating this. If I donāt update please yell at me in my inbox lmao.

i think iām going to b*rn3s tomorrow!! hopefully i can lift at least one book. iām going to bring my tote bag for sure.
my friends and i always go to the horoscope+spiritual book section and iāve had my eye on a paperback book for the last few months!!
iām planning on grabbing a few and going back to a table in starbucks. iāll read the main book for a little than start on my homework. ill take out my own book from my bag and put it on top of the book i want to lift. when we leave, iāll grab the two books and put them both in my bag at the same time. i really hope this works!! i already have a disadvantage because iām a minor, and they always keep an eye on teenagers.
**updates coming soon!!
Tell me how it goes!!! I might try this
i went today and one of the workers was watching me for sure !! i walked in and he said good morning to me and i smiled and said it back. i got a few books and brought it back to a table where my friend was. literally for the next few hours we were there he kept glancing at me!! i for sure never acted nervous or looked around too much or acted in a way that was suspicious at all... he then started talking to another worker and worker #2 looked over at me like worker #1 told him to look out for me. so i couldnāt do it !! itās for sure much easier lifting from thrift stores... thatās my specialty as a novice.
hey everyone!
I work at a B&Å and tonight I saw this in receiving! This basically explains the standards for placing RFID tags in books. As you can see, itās only certain books that will be tagged, but itās always good to check!
Also, be aware of the 20% off, 30% off stickers on the front of the books. In my location, these are almost always RFID stickers so remove everything you see! It wonāt hurt to take off anything that could possibly make you beep at the door.
Thank you for reading! *mwah*
Sometimes I wonder if I might actually be good at shoplifting or if I'm just incredibly lucky, and that thought is keeping me up at night.
GUYS IM SO FUCKING SHOOK ok so I donāt have any detachers, and I have no chance of getting them past my parents either so I donāt bother with tagsā¦HOWEVER I watched this dude on YouTube take off tags with 2 metal forks..AND IT FUCKING WORKS!! It does lowkey make a loud noise but cough loudly or drop your bag of somthing BUT IT SERIOUSLY WORKS IM SCREMAJNG KSKCLDOSOF
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IHGHH194GUĀ is the link.
Hmm thatās really cool! Itās hard to make an excuse to have forks in your bag, so bringing other utensils would help.Ā
yep thats the vid i learned it from! tysm for linking it, couldnāt find it again lol. An excuse you could make up is you had a picnic or brought your own lunch I guess? And having spoons and stuff too would alleviate suspicion <3 <3 :D
Holy hell, this is impressive! *jawdrops*
ok, how cute is that family tho!?
Reblog!
Hello everyone So Iāve been thinking, in my normal everyday life I canāt really talk to anyone about my second life on Tumblr. I mean I can but talking to likeminded lifters isnāt easy. I passed by a post recently about wanting to make a community of people who can support and help each other. A community that can grow, teach, learn and understand each other. Letās be real this sounds amazing. So I thought Iād give it a try?
So if you want to be part of the community and you:
- are 15 to 19
- have a love for creating things
- lift but also have a life without lifting
- are active on social media
- enjoy lifting šš
If you are any of the above please reblog this post. I will pick some of you to be part of this community. Iām gonna start it small and see what happens from there.
So again reblog this because likes donāt count and I wonāt take you into consideration for this group āļøāļø
Stay safe guys ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
This sounds amazing š

LIFTING 101: How to Look, How to Act
Sorry guys, this is a long one!
BIGGEST TIP: Act as if you have the full intention of buying something: Convince yourself that you are in fact about to spend your hard earned money. Look at prices, look at sizes. Do you see a sale rack? Gravitate towards it as if you are keen on getting the best deal. Just picture how you act when you are actually planning on buying things and mimic that.
Smile!! Act friendly!: This is another big one. Store associates usually donāt suspect the ones who look as if they didnāt have it in them to steal anything, and on the off chance that you do get caught, always act nice, innocent and apologetic. If you display to the SAs that you are a clean cut, nice, rich person that they are much less likely to follow or suspect you, and are more likely to be more lenient if you get caught.
Light, clean makeup (unless going to Sephora or Ulta): This also relates to the tip mentioned above. You donāt want to draw any attention to yourself. You do not want to have dark, gothic make up or bright colored eyeshadow or anything like that when you are lifting. You want to keep your look as clean and boring as possible.
Wear hair away from face: This seems counterintuitive but Iāve personally noticed a difference regarding this. SAs will be more wary of someone who has heavy bangs or hair in their face. By pulling your hair back into a high ponytail or plain headband you are silently saying āHey, I have no problem showing my face. Iām confident.ā Remember, the goal is not to exit the store without being apprehended. The goal is to leave without anyone even knowing something has been taken. Therefore, if you have done your job, there should be no risk if your face is fully exposed.
No statement accessories: Again, you do not want to bring any unnecessary attention to yourself. No cat earrings, no chunky necklaces, NO LOUD BRACELETS, no patterned tights. Outfits that I usually wear to go lifting (in the warmer months) are a pair of skinny jeans (rolled up to right above the ankle), black leather flip flops, a cream blouse, and a thin gold necklace. You want to look put together, but not flashy.
Wear clothing that is in season and tight!: This will help keep you from standing out or being suspected. If youāre carrying a small bag and wearing fitted clothes, where could you possibly be hiding anything? If you go into a Walmart wearing a huge sweatshirt in the middle of the summer, the employees will already have a reason to suspect that you may be a shoplifter so make sure you donāt give them a reason to pay attention to you.
Donāt carry a large bag (tote can be fine, try and invest in a bag that is much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside): Get a cute bag that looks small. I have this purple Kate Spade purse that looks very small from the outside but Iāve fitted 3 books, 4 pairs of leggings, a t shirt, and 3 bras inside all while having it still look normal from the outside. Huge bags draw attention, but you can probably get away with carrying a large tote bag so long as it looks expensive and/or has a brand name prominently displayed.
Wear accessories on only one hand to draw attention to it, use the other hand to take and conceal (works best for concealing small items): The eye is drawn to sparkly things! Wear rings and paint the nails a bright color on only one hand. Use this hand to pick up and put back items that you arenāt going to lift; use the other boring hand to discreetly take items and slip them into your bag. If all goes well, even if someone is watching you, their eyes will be drawn to the flashier hand.
Donāt take quick glances around at people and/or cameras: This makes you look very VERY SUS. This has been said a million times and I canāt stress this enough but look for cameras ONLY with your eyes! Donāt move your head, donāt quickly whip around if you hear a sound. Movement draws attention, which is exactly what we donāt want. If you hear someone walking behind you as youāre concealing, stay calm and act as if you are doing nothing out of the ordinary. You must convince yourself that you arenāt doing anything wrong so as to convince others watching you of the same.
Act calmly, donāt fidget, consciously slow your movements: If you are a person who acts strangely when nervous, YOU SHOULD NOT BE LIFTING. I cannot stress this enough; the most important defense you have against being sus is your demeanor! Radiate tranquility babes, if that means taking a bubble bath right before lifting do it! Donāt walk too quickly, donāt jump, donāt fidget with your hands.
Donāt spend too much time handling the item youāre planning on lifting:Ā This just gives LP more time to see you with that piece of merchandise and more time for them to become suspicious of what youāre planning on doing with it, especially if they see you leave the store without buying it!! Take the item, and conceal as soon as you possibly can.
And thatās all for now! Hopefully something here helped someone, these are all pretty general but theyāre good especially for people who are just starting out! Shoot me a message if you have any questions and Iāll try to answer them as best I can!
i think iām going to b*rn3s tomorrow!! hopefully i can lift at least one book. iām going to bring my tote bag for sure.
