does some senior director at Walt Disney Studios have a uvula fetish or what
@glumshoe uhhh can you elaborate please?
it seems like almost every Disney movie from the 50âs to the 90âs has a âzoom in on the open mouth and focus on the uvula swinging aroundâ scene and itâs incredibly unsettling
other studios do it too⌠thereâs a whole scene in Fievel Goes West where heâs hugging and dangling from one, but thatâs Don Bluth and heâs just Like That, most of movies have awkward âthis definitely seems like your hyper-specific fetishâ scenes
It has to deal with guidelines for art. If I wasnât lazy Iâd post them, but; lucky for me, because Iâm lazy; that effort wonât be used here. Based on some of these guidelines, with out the uvela, it would be a large space of filled color. No interest, no composition, symmetry, just plain boring to look at. So what do you do? Add a uvela. When inside like Tweety, it helps tell the viewer where Tweety is located.
Itâs crap like this that makes people think the avenger and other crap movies are good. Itâs super easy to read the screen.
I mean. Iâm not questioning why uvulas are part of their anatomyâuvulas are real and it makes sense that they are there. I am questioning the choice to constantly have the camera dive into their mouths for an up-close view of the thing as the focus of a shot, and for small characters to touch, climb on, or otherwise interact with it. It is a lot of attention to pay to a tiny and relatively obscure part of the body and itâs basically universal in mainstream animation.
As an animator, I say:
1. Uvula at this point of history is a shorthand, an instantly recognizable symbol for the inside of someoneâs mouth. If you donât put it in, the inside of the mouth would look weird. There are TONS of those in animation, since in animation you have to âdumb nature downâ to a few instantly recognizable shapes. A weird shape in the back of your throat? Pretty recognizable.
2. Itâs just a weird silly part of anatomy and itâs kind of funny?
3. The amount of humans working on each cartoon is in the hundreds. To have an scene of a character interacting with an uvula, you need a LOT of people involved. Starting from a script writer a team of board artists, a team of animators. That shot of tweety punching an uvula (done by Warner Brothers not Disney) has just the people who are doing the actual work of drawing a character move, you have a posing artist, a key animator, an inbetweener, a clean up artist, and an person colouring each frame by hand, not to mention the background was first drawn by a layout artist and then painted by a background painting team. Those drybrush speedlines? Were probably done by an FX artist. Thatâs a fucktonne of people bringing this to life. All of them getting off on an uvula? Unlikely
My point is, itâs really hard to bring in your weird specific fetish into an animation scene. Like you can sneak it in, like a dust cloud that reads sex in lion king, was done by just one FX artist, and it went past the sensors, but having a whole SCENE be your weird fetish is real difficult unless it is actually ..a visual gag, done on purpose, as a joke. Because having a weird anatomy part that a character can interact with is weird and funny. You can for sure think itâs not funny, and some jokes land flat, but YOU CAN NOT HAVE A TEAM OF HUNDREDS OF ARTIST WORK ON YOUR VERY SPECIFIC KINK.
Accuse the animators of having a bad sense of humor, but I can 100% say itâs not a weird sex thing for anyone.
âhaving a whole scene be your weird fetish is real difficultâ oh man say that to Done Bluth and The Real Ludmilla:

"Y'all notice a sharp decline in protest videos and content in the last couple of weeks?"
Joshua Potash @JoshuaPotash
"I don't think people understand.
This is NYC right now. Day 30. In a row.
The #BlackLivesMatter movement is just getting started."
[Video Description: a very large parade of masked protesters changing and cheering. One of the more distinguishable chants from the crowd is "I believe that we are one!" End ID]
The dwindling amount of videos and media coverage of protests is honestly worrying to me. In my opinion, protesters, especially Black protesters, are more at risk because of this. Cops tend to act up and hurt people less if they know they're being filmed and especially if they know that a lot of people are filiming. But I worry that as soon as they feel no one is looking/not enough people are looking, they'll start shooting us, and this time, it won't be with """rubber""" bullets and tear gas.
Document everything, y'all. Don't let them think we aren't watching. Don't let them feel safe enough to kill us.
As of today (7/7/2020) PromotePositivityMovement in Atlanta has been protesting for 40 straight days at the Olympic Rings in Centennial Park.
On Saturday alone I attended 4 protests in a row. And that was 4 out of many.
Protests are still happening, daily, but unless they're "exciting," they're not on the news.
Hello all! I donât think I actually made this post even thought Iâve orginally meant to. (And if I did hereâs a 4 month use update!)
So I live with chronic pain and other chronic illness concerns so while most binders look super cool flat wise, they are a nightmare to me because you canât get them off quickly.
*taps the photos of this bad boy right here*
Zipper!! Now if Iâm feeling bad suddenly and either in pain, canât breathe, or whatever my body wants to throw at me. Zip. Gone.
Its not super tight and wonât flatten a ton especially if you donât position those puppies. But because it isnât super tight I can do more in it for longer. (Remember always listen to your bodyâs limits). Now I do have a large set but it still gives me a more of a Dorito shapeďżź which is my fav and allows me to not even need a level of flatness other binders can get.
Some others pros, cheap! 18 bucks. I like the design of this for being shirt-like, sometimes Iâll just wear it around the house when I want to just âbe in my underwearâ. (A concept that eluded me pre-gender ďżźeuphoria days.)
My only complaint is that is rides up on my hips which can be annoying. I joked I wanted those sexy like belt garters to hold it down but it hasnât been that big of a deal tbh
Now I totally know this isnât the standard choice, maybe not even the best choice for most trans people. But it is the best choice for me. So if you were thinking you canât bind at all because of disability maybe try this out! ďżźďżź

I used a new brush set on most of this, and Iâm really pleased with how it turned out!

So in the light of the ridiculous "Titan Dolphin" from the TFIW remake I decided to make "aerocetes" and turn the flish and birds into flying dolphins.
âŚI hadnât heard about a new Future Is Wild project, and now Iâve looked it up Iâm so so disappointed.
Because the âtitan dolphinâ makes no anatomical sense.
[source: The Future Is Wild VR]
It appears to have been designed purely for looks, with no real regard for how either dolphins work or just animal anatomy in general. (Or, worse, it looks like somebody drew an âalien dinosaurâ concept and then just slapped the âdolphinâ ancestry onto it after the fact to try to make it more interesting.)
Why is its vestigial tail fluke vertical instead of horizontal? Why do its teeth seem to go right around the corners of its weird-looking lips? What possible use are such long thin fragile fangs? Why does it have lizard scales? Why is it so lumpy?
And where are its organs? If its legs are derived from forelimbs, then the âbodyâ around them has to be pretty much entirely its ribcage. This thing is literally just the front half of an animal with no space for a digestive system!
No wonder its mouth is stuck open in a perpetual scream.
This infuriated me more than it should have, so I gave the titan dolfin my own try at a hopefully more reasonable redesign:
At first I focussed on its bipedality, trying to figure out if it was at all possible. As you stated, the GUTS would prevent it from a dinosaurlike stance. It would constantly fall over backwards, no matter how string the arms where. But What if it didnt turn its tail into a thin useless rope of scales and instead developed its strong muscles further and use it as a third âlegâ to stand on. Its fluke growing thicker and more stable, providing additional stabilities to the sides. Thats how I could see it walk bipedaly. Or rather bimanaly. It couldnt run fast. It could throw itself into water real quick, but a cheetahlike chasescene wouldnt be possible. So I guessed it returned to its very early roots and became a herbivore once more, living in water but feasting on land plants like a hippo nowadays. After all, whippomorpha (dolfins and whales) are very closely related to hippos and a little less closely with pigs and even cattle and it wouldnt be the first time a carnovorous lineage became herbivorous again ( looking at you therizinosaurus). I dont know how well a melon would work outside of water. I assume it wouldnt, in wich case I guess the echochamber would become more hollow and turn into a trumpet for the dolfin to create booming calls towards its brethren. As for the dorsal finâŚ. I have no reason for it. Its purely eastetical, I admit. So anyway. thats my take on the creature. Im still sad they trash this series with such shitty designs, but working on this calmed me down a bit.
Oh, thatâs a really neat take on it!
Iâve been thinking about how Iâd do my own version of a âland dolphinâ, too, and I actually ended up taking it in a pretty similar initial direction, using the tail for weight-bearing.
(I just⌠might have gone a bit weirder with it.)
Their ancestors are dolphins who develop the behavior of driving their prey up onto the shore to catch it, beaching themselves in the process and then wriggling back into the water â similar to the way some modern dolphins beach themselves while hunting fish, along with how orcas hunt sea lions.
They gradually get better and better at maneuvering themselves on the shore, going from flopping to a more sea lion-like bounding motion using strengthened and more flexible flippers and their powerful tails. Instead of just beaching fish they start outright preying on terrestrial animals on the shore, too, in a sort of ambush predator niche.
Eventually they start using their tail as a tripod pseudo-leg, curling it beneath themselves so they can use it to propel themselves forwards. They donât really run, instead leaping along in an almost frog-like motion to chase terrestrial prey.
Theyâre still semi-aquatic at this point, spending most of their time lurking in the water, but from here they can become more and more terrestrial.
Their melons reduce because echolocation doesnât work as well for hunting in air, but they keep the dorsal fins for now as visual display structures. Instead of regaining separate digits their limbs develop tough hoof-like keratinized pads, and they take the vestigial hairs they still develop as embryos and fully grow some sensory whiskers.
They grow some big tusks, too, because theyâre bad-tempered pig-like things that like to fight each other.
Then some of them reactivate the genes for body fur, and get kinda hairy, too. They develop elaborate bony crests on their snouts (like a more ridiculous version of some extinct beaked whales), and so their dorsal fins start to become less prominent.
With longer limbs and stronger hooves, they end up as big carnivores somewhat convergent with entelodonts.
âŚAnd thatâs how I accidentally turned a dolphin into a unicorn. ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
@alphynix @cheetahtrout It would be interesting though what circumstances exactly would be favorable for the evolution of land cetaceans. They did screw around with mammalian anatomy quite a lot, so there should be a minimal number of competitors that could more easily fill âland mammalâ niches?
Though if all goes well, and theyâre able to re-specialize to a terrestrial lifestyle, there could be a fair amount of diversity that they could attain. Perhaps wallowing hippo-like herbivores or unicorn-like predators as mentionedâŚor perhaps even a small, omnivorous âraccolphinââŚ
@frodos-bizarre-adventure
I love that raccolphin! I can imagine them being obnoxious little troublemakers, and making up for their lack of grabby hands with some corvid-like tool use.
And, yeah, land dolphins would definitely need a lack of terrestrial competition in their ecosystem, so I figure theyâd probably happen in an isolated island ecosystem without any other land mammals.
(That could be a nice parallel to their ancestors, too, since cetaceans are thought to have originated on the Indian subcontinent during a time when it was an âislandâ, before it had collided with Eurasia.)
@alphynix
#Spectember is still very far away, but I couldnât resist going nuts with this concept.
So without further ado:
The Delphinus Archipelago.
An isolated archipelago that arises in the Pacific Ocean an undetermined millions of years in the distant future, the Delphinus Archipelago is soon teeming with life, filled with expanses of grassland, dense forested areas and rich coral reefs around its coastal shallows. An abundance of crustaceans swarm on its beaches, flocks of unique endemic birds settle in its forests and shores, and insects, other arthropods and even small reptiles that rafted onto the archipelago eons ago have now made home in the islandsâs rich ecosystem.
However, there were no mammals on the Delphinus ArchipelagoâŚsave for one VERY unlikely one that had conquered the islands in the lack of competition.
@alphynix just an updated cladogram.
Wow! These are all great, and I love how you managed to fit the basic concepts into such a big and diverse family tree.
So you know how elves are pretty much just weird humans that live in the Deep Woods and commune with the trees and have extra magic?
We donât have those in Farewenden. Instead, we have weird bears that live in the Deep Woods and commune with the trees and have extra magic, and they are called Langbere. Theyâre wise and long-lived, but also very secretive and not much is known about them.
I might colour this fellow and add more detail at some point, but for now, heâs done. If you want to colour him in the meantime, please be my guest! ( b ._.)b

Hi Tumblr
Just wanted to say that the president of Poland Andrzej Duda just signed smthg called âKarta Rodzinyâ, which basically states that the only true family and marriage is that of heterosexual people, further doubling down on refusing marriage equality and adoption. It will âsave children from alien and harmful LGBT ideologyâ by baning public institutions of mentioning the âLGBT ideologyâ.
The things happening over in america are horrendous, but also making way for changes for the better. Theyâre making the whole world have a discussion about racism still woven into our societies.
But please. Itâs pride month. My country, my people need this to be on the lips of the world.
Spread the news
the current government of Poland is very fond of the expression âLGBT ideologyâ, which sets up queer people as a bogeyman to scare up support for far-right parties. Duda is up for reelection this year and heâs clearly following the playbook to the letter. the insidious thing about Karta Rodziny is that it contains some positive ideas, like state protections for single parents and higher penalties for domestic violence⌠as well as âa ban on promoting LGBT ideology by public institutionsâ[1]. so if you protest Karta Rodziny, the govât and state-controlled media will absolutely claim you ~just want single parents to die~ and ~love domestic abusers~.
[1]: no queer-inclusive sex education at schools, for one. thereâs been a push for better sex ed and a counter-push by far-right, anti-choice groups for NO sex ed.

Pass laws that would protect LGBT people in Poland and abolish current anti-LGBT laws
I heard a very similar story from a 19-year-old white trans guy. He and 700 other peaceful protesters were surrounded and tear-gassed by police while walking away from the main protest area. Some of the cops laughed at and took video of some of the protesters who were crying. When the 19-year-old was detained, the officers debated amongst themselves about whether he was a man or woman. They said âYou never know these days. Maybe heâs an alien.â He was then searched by a female officer and placed on the bus for women. His zip ties were so tight his had turned blue. He spent 2 hours with them on and asked 5 officers to help him before a 6th officer took the zip ties off and got him medical attention. His hand was numb until the next morning.
There was no reason for this to happen. Heâs lucky he is white.
Believe black people when they tell you the abuse they have suffered at the hands of police. And then take action to make sure it never happens again.
[id: Twitter thread by @ juliacdupuis on June 4 2020. It reads: âI was arrested on June 2nd, 2020 with around 100 other protesters in Los Angeles. While I was ziptied and facing the wall, two male officers joked behind me about my gender presentation: âDo you think itâs a female? Are you sure?â
They then proceeded to start patting me down - touching my breasts and my front/ back pockets, still laughing. Finally, one of them admitted,â We shouldnât be doing this.â Then they called over a female officer to search me. Their names are Officer Cho and Codilla of the LAPD.
I was not the only gender non conforming protestor to be called âit.â There were trans/non-binary protestors divided into the âmaleâ and âfemaleâ buses and deliberately misgendered. I was also not the only protestor to be sexually harassed or made uncomfortable.
After being held for over 4 hours - with protestors vomiting, fainting, forced to pee in their seats, losing circulation in their bruised wrists/arms - many began to advocate. We demanded access to bathrooms, water, and medical attention. We held them accountable to the law.
The only response was an officer telling us to âstop acting like high school girls.â We were held even longer, watching other buses with prisoners being processed and released. When I got off the bus, an officer said, âNow that youâre acting reasonable, we let you off the bus.â
We spoke up about LAPD abuse and were punished for it. They heard us begging and screaming for medical attention and chose to keep us there for 5 ½ hours to silence us.
After the zip ties were cut off, I was threatened by an officer who said: âStop it with the attitude. This is us being nice - I can make this much worse for you.â In response to us advocating for our rights, they told us: âYou have no rights here.â
This is what protestors are facing. This is the violence and harassment police have been using to silence us, wear us down, and force us off the streets. Even without rubber bullets, tear gas, and batons, they have other means of physical and emotional violence.
This is just a taste of the brutality that black and brown people experience with police. It is a privilege to be shocked by this. It is a privilege to be violated and humiliated for the first time. And Iâm sure that my whiteness protected me in custody as it did on the street.â End id.]

UNMUTE THIS đđ

hereâs a damn fine example of why comedy doesnât have to be offensive to be fucking hilarious
