The live-TV interpreter who said "Sag mal, wie lange wollt ihr bei dem Scheiß bleiben?!" has made a statement. I admire him hugely for not apologizing for what he said, or even technically retracting it, at any point in this statement. Instead, he takes the opportunity to make a jab at Trump's inability to put a reasonable sentence together:

I didn't think I'd have the energy to make a translation, but what the heck, I guess I will.
Background for the non-Germans: a German professional interpreter was live-interpreting the TV broadcast of the Trump inauguration when he suddenly broke off in the middle of his interpreting and said loudly, "Tell me, how long do we have to watch this shit?!"
Of course they immediately cut his mic after that, but it was too late :D
Anyway here's my rough translation of the article excerpt above:
Interpreter Frank Deja, who committed this faux pas, has now made a statement. "I could have sworn I'd muted myself. However, in the heat of the moment, it appears I pressed the wrong button. We interpreters have what's known as a 'cough cut' button on the interpreter console, which we can use to briefly mute ourselves. Then, whatever we say next doesn't get broadcasted – and obviously that sentence wasn't supposed to be broadcasted," he explained to n-tv. His exclamation is not intended to be understood as a political statement. "No, that's not it at all. The political content is not the problem," says Deja, adding, "I often interpret for people whose politics I don't agree with. The problem with Trump was that he suddenly started free-associating or saying the same thing three times in a row. Following these incoherent mental leaps is quite a challenge for an interpreter." He explains: "When a speaker presents their thoughts in an organized way, the interpreter can more or less guess where each new sentence is going as soon as it's begun. You can surf that wave. But with Trump, this is impossible."
What a sad news.
Zelenogorsk, the viral Pallas’s cat famous for sitting on his tail to keep his paws warm, has passed away on 5 feb. 2026.
He lived more than twice the average lifespan of a Pallas's cat and fathered 35 kittens.
Fluffy legend, thanks for everything. May the heavenly steppe welcome you.
RIP Zelenogorsk ❤️🩹

Close up
What helped me write trauma better is remembering that the nervous system learns predictions. If danger used to come after quiet, calm can feel threatening. If kindness used to come with a price, kindness can feel suspicious. So healing is not just “they know they’re safe now.” Healing is the slow, annoying, deeply unfair process of teaching the body that the old prediction is not always the present truth.
gf got me new posca markers for christmas, so i drew her brother’s cat. her name’s engine bc they found her in a car engine.

big fan of characters who have it all under control when theyre put in situations but no idea how to be like a regular guy doing regular stuff when all is said and done.

this is the funniest thing I’ve seen in weeks
The “Thunk” will always kill me.

I love the combination of Salon!Kakania and Jazz!Isolde
Doesn’t "proshipper" just mean "ships character from media"? How is there a derogatory term for that? What where the circumstances under which it came up and gained popularity?
proship is usually used irt ships that are deemed "problematic" usually stuff like incest (canon or implied), big age gaps, unbalanced power dynamics, abuser/victim pairings and stuff like that
God forbit someone enjoy fiction!
Seriously, the difference between fiction and reality has been lost in some parts of english speaking fandom culture. I get that some forms of fiction make you uncomfortable, because some forms of fiction make me very uncomfortable, but that doesn't mean they are immoral to produce or consume.
Proshipper actually just means "anti censorship and anti harassment" actually. But yeah.
Honestly the definition just depends on who you're talking too because anti's (as they call themselves) adore spouting deluded nonsense about what their opponents believe.
You are watching a puppet show
For actual clarity proship is pro as in opposition to anti. Like pro choice or pro gun (random common examples don’t bring irl politics here).
the anti shipping community says it’s short for problematic but if you go back to the origins in the X-files fandom it’s: “proship want main characters together” “antiship want main characters to remain friends and coworkers and not be romantic.”
The MODERN antishipping community originates from the Sheith vs Klance ship war.
Fans assumed all the paladins of Voltron were teens as the original Netflix description described them as a group of teens.
At a con during the after the first season Shiro’s voice actor said Shiro was 25. That wasn’t a writer or show runner but a voice actor. Later made canon if I remember right.
Klance shippers used that as ammunition against Sheith shippers. Saying Keith was 16 so it was illegal. So obviously Klance is morally superior because they’re both minors 🙄. Baby’s first fandom activity.
Later its revealed that Keith was 18 in the first season and Lance is 17. The Klance shippers don’t care and still say Shieth is still illegal. Which yeah irl that’s hella suspect but again they’re fictional characters.
They did that with other ships too: “Pidge is 14 you can’t ship her with a 17 year old!” Pidge is established as 15 in season 1. A 2 year age gap isn’t that bad and again fiction.
So on and so forth until The Klance shippers basically ran any ship that got in the way of Klance off of tumblr and Voltron fandom spaces. After Voltron ended and the fans moved on they dispersed into new fandoms spreading the same thing about ages and being “gross and toxic” to “ship sibling” coded characters, and the characters are just best friends. Except now a majority of them don’t even realize it steamed as a way to win a ship war.
So of course a lot of newer and younger fans are taking everything at face value and act like liking fictional crimes means you support it happening in real life. But only sex related ones. Even if they’re not actually a crime like “pseudo incest because they’re found family”.
Basically, the reason modern fandom sucks is we’re still stuck in the Voltron fandom.
Hard round brush is fun
