iseris can use blood magic for various effects and while blood magic can be used for other things like to summon demons, these are the things that iseris does and they are as follows;

the most obvious use is to provide an extra pool of power to draw from when she runs out of mana. so long as she has life force, her own or someone else’s (typically her own but sometimes the blood of enemies), she can keep going in a fight. there comes that risk of using up too much and suffering significant blood loss.

in dragon age, it also allows one to casts spell that usually a mage would need the aid of lyrium for, such as directly entering the fade.

powering up existing spells. however, in dragon age she is also an arcane warrior so she has that alternative to augment physical attacks as well as blood magic for powering up spells.

attacks that damage over time; boiling an enemy’s blood leaving them immobile and in pain for a time

corrupt other people’s blood in order to control their actions.

blood magic healing - iseris can do this for wounds in battle but it’s not as effective on herself. it’s better used on others. there is also the potential to use blood magic to cure disease but that requires sacrifice. use it to help reattach recently severed limbs. filtering poisons from blood.

also... literal blood manipulation? heck. physically manipulate it on the field of battle, sharpen it into points not so unlike water/ice manipulation. considering she does use ice magic considerably as well, she could combine the two. freezing one's blood. clotting. slowing the flow. speeding it up.

blood magic in dragon age Has been used to control or bind dragons before. iseris *can* do that but she can also do something a bit different which is to straight up summon and control a dragon. somewhat similar to a ranger's connection with their animal companions.

in asoiaf, magic works differently. she has been studying old valyrian blood magic which was what allowed targaryens and valyrians their connection to dragons. i won't say control because it's clear they can't control them fully. iseris *does* have valyrian ancestry but not necessarily dragon lord. however her dabbling with valyrian blood magic? and specifically looking into the dragon connection? i don't think she'd be able to claim a dragon herself... yet. there's definitely some Vibes going on though. would probably be able to calm a dragon down, like the dragon tamers in the pit or on dragonstone.

blood magic comes with a great deal of cons and side effects, however.

it makes one more susceptible to possession by spirits or demons in dragon age.

in veilguard that probably makes her quite sensitive to elgar'nan and ghilan'nain and solas. she can likely sense them and maybe even connect with their minds... but it also means they'd be able to connect and sense her. she has to keep up the mental shields and probably exhaust herself.

it can make it harder for a mage to connect to the fade naturally, leading to them relying more on blood magic for power.

insomnia.

anaemia-like symptoms such as getting cold easily/being cold all the time, dizziness, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, tiredness.

extensive and painful nerve damage in both hands. sometimes her hands can go numb, other times there’s a sharp prickling pain, often made worse by the cold. as a result of the cold and her pains, iseris is rarely seen without wearing gloves.

slower healing. magical healing is less effective on iseris and even her natural healing processes are slow. often, she'll have to use either blood magic to heal herself (usually to stop bleeding or remove toxins) and/or use traditional healing methods rather than usual magical healing.
