ultrakill fandom's second reminder that gabriel is not a sadboy twink

i said this on old main but it drives me up the FUCKING wall every time someone purposely mischaracterizes gabriel in favour of sexualising him. like yes i do understand the concept of satire but i dont think people who say "its js satire" realise how bad it is in the community

i say this partially because we have a gabriel fictive who loves using tumblr but has to stop sometimes because all hy sees is suggestive art of himself.

now look i love gabriel too. hes a very interesting character. hes hot. but some people need to be bonked on the head with the frying pan of clarity and reminded that:

gabriel was an archangel

gabriel was so powerful he slaughtered the biggest recorded husk by himself

he beat sisyphus and his army

he is so influential that he has fucking disciples

he was GOD'S WILL. think about that title for a moment. like actually think about it.

heaven needs him back so quickly that they sent providences and didn't bother removing their eyes, which is very important in ultrakill

before anyone reads my tags i just wanna say my opinion isn’t worded as well as i’d like it to be. there is of course a chance i could be wrong like there is in all aspects in life. and if i seem preachy about portraying bdsm properly im sorry. i know its not that deep people just wanna read violent sex between an archangel and a robot. but the way you write things does reveal (even if only to a small degree, obviously not everything you write reflects your own views and values) even to a small degree your own personal opinions and biases, such as ones even well-meaning people (which is a majority of people) may subconsciously have as a result of the society we live in pigeonholing us into it.

also sorry if it seems mean spirited i just see this shit everywhere anytime a character is portrayed as a trans man and its terrible. honestly fandoms collectively need to treat every kind of genderqueer character (ex: trans women, nonbinary people) far better than they do (we STILL have people not accepting Kris is nonbinary) but this in particular has grated my nerves.

also, if you disagree, please don’t be mean to me personally about this. you can say something like “wow this take is incredibly fucking dumb. has he even read anything?” but please attack the argument and not the person.

honestly while shy and meek artsy-type ferryman pining over gabriel is cute i like fanworks that depict the ferryman as a no-nonsense, cares about his job, tired and moody kind of person. we dont usually get to see that side of them.

like with characters like gabriel theres more serious art of him and art thats not just about shipping but i feel like the ferryman gets reduced to being shipped a lot more often. which makes sense since theyre a more minor character.. but still.

i keep thinking about v1 again. a v1 that is beweildered and confused by gabriel's sudden infatuation with it. a v1 that doesnt feel like it can return gabriel's feelings for it. a v1 that thought gabriel was arrogant but ultimately didnt care for him viewing it as an object.

and was he wrong, really? it is merely a machine meant for killing. it is unfortunate that gabriel caught feelings for something that cannot feel. or at least thats what it tells to itself.

maybe it isnt just an all-devouring nothing purging hell unthinkingly. maybe it is something, something thinking capable of wants and desires, something with unrealized potential. and that's scary, isnt it? being assentially unmolded clay. being able to be affected by the world around you. being ruthless not by nature but by neccesity, because your wants are constantly being denied.

its just so much easier to be nothing when you could die at any moment. its so much easier to just not die than to try to live, when you dont know how to.

#i could write very long paragraphs about v1 despite the fact it barely has any dialogue. so why not play with it being an allegedly blank #-canvas? i think its interesting..#v1 ultrakill #thinking

genuinely sisyphus is too good of a character to be boiled down to traits that don't even apply to him?? sisyphus is NOT an angry character. he didn't form the insurrection out of rage and he never killed or lied or did anything out of anger, he did it out of passion and loyalty for his cause and his allies. and this might be a hot take but he is NOT an aggressive character either. yes he led the insurrection but that was a KNOWING act of futility as a form of rebellion, not really aggression. yes he picked a fight with v1 but that was because it had already killed minos and he just wanted a quick fight with an opponent he knew was of equal strength or stronger than him. he is not inherently violent all the time. its honestly so cool how he has a zero regrets attitude and he is canonically a very smart character and a good planner so please focus on those aspects

let's maybe not interpret the only canon black character with "angry" traits and instead focus on the ACTUAL characteristics he has
