I love the “captain’s log” mechanism in Star Trek as a method for time skips and exposition.
I am, however, devastated that we never got an episode where any captain’s voiceover is strained and slow. very precise about the events they’re describing. While the screen itself is showing the most batshit insane events and making it clear that the captain is trying VERY HARD to keep everyone involved out of a court martial.

rwby makes me want to cry so bad. imagine being created with the budget of a nickel and two toothpicks. the map of the region was a stain on a napkin. the creator wrote out to the ninth volume but died before the last of the third volume. but his friends kept the show going, kept true to what he wrote. the show survived the shutdown of the parent company. had crossover movies with wb and was dropped by them as well. got picked up by yet another studio. has been in hiatus hell for 3 years but is confirmed to continue. this is insane and unheard of for this type of show. also the core message of the show is to not give up, to keep going even when the going gets tough, never give up. rwby is not giving up. rwby, monty, you will always be famous <3

Blake comes to the RWBY dorm really late, covered in dirt and leaves and twigs, and with a wild look in her eyes. She stares at RWY, then walks slowly to the bathroom. Takes a shower. Exits. All is well again. They still have no idea wtf she was doing out there.
Someone startles Blake and instead of flinching, or screaming, she just turns her head and gives them the single most deer-in-headlights stare known to man. She is known as one of the most unsettling students at Beacon. There are theories on some of the student forums that Blake is actually a werewolf or wendigo or something.
Blake makes random goblin noises at random times. V1, Blake and Yang are chilling, Blake makes a weird little "wah" noise and Yang looks genuinely concerned. V7, Blake and Yang are chilling, Blake makes a weird little "bleh" noise and Yang responds with her own "wee". They keep going until Weiss tells them to stfu.

Well, history has shown over and over again that when you try to appease an evil dictator by obeying their every command in hopes that they'll spare you, it only emboldens them and you suffer along with the rest of the undesirables. If an evil dictator sees you as lesser than them, they'll still see you as lesser no matter how much you try to win their approval and no matter how much you do their dirty work for them.
Instead of imagining an evil dictator who likes torturing people, guessing at how to lick his boots, and hoping you're one of the people he spares when all the evidence in the world shows that he's going to torture you anyway, wouldn't it be better to just enjoy life and allow others to enjoy theirs? Then, if there actually is an evil dictator who tortures you for not obeying him, you can just join whatever uprising there is. When a very large number of people are being tortured by the evilest dictator imaginable and they have nothing to lose, surely there'd have to be an uprising.
